2-Month Update: Verteporfin Trial on Leg Scar Excision with Dr. Bloxham (New York) Baby hairs and melanin returning

Here is my 2-month update on the Verteporfin trial for a body scar. The procedure was a scar excision (left completely unsutured) performed by Dr. Bloxham in New York, using a 3 mg/ml dose of Verteporfin.

What happened so far:

Delayed Healing: We noticed a significant slowdown in the healing process caused by the Verteporfin, which was expected.

Suboptimal Aftercare: Unfortunately, the wound care wasn't perfect. A thick scab was allowed to form, and the area was accidentally exposed to direct heat sources, which might have compromised the final result.

Current Observations (2 Months In):

Baby Hairs: We are seeing brand new baby hair growing right in the middle of the wound. This is huge, as hair follicle regeneration is impossible in normal, fibrous scar tissue.

Repigmentation: The tissue seems to be regaining melanin. It used to be completely white and featureless, but now the color is blending back in.

Our Take & Expectations:

We likely won't get a 100% "scarless" result due to the lack of sutures and the aftercare mishaps. Instead, it looks like it will be a hybrid of fibrous tissue and healthy skin. However, the hair growth is an incredibly positive and encouraging sign of regeneration.

Next Steps:

We plan to run more trials in the future using the same dose (3 mg/ml) or slightly lower on other body scars. Crucially, we will use sutures next time, as we noticed the outer edges of this wound—where the tension was lower—are healing almost completely scarless.

IF YOU ARE FROM NY AND WANT TO CONTRIBUTE DR BLOXHAM IS SEEKING NEW PATIENTS TO TREAT THEIR BODY SCARS.

3.5 months update - Dr Abhinav Kumar - Skin Center Patna - 4960 grafts FUE

Hi everyone, for those who had not seen it, the link to the beginning of my journey:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Hair_Transplants/comments/1r8866i/dr_abhinav_kumar_4960_grafts_fue/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

3.5 months post-op I can finally say that I have hair! Both myself and dr Kumar share the opinion that it looks good so far. Obviously the density is not yet there but I am hopeful given this being an early stage. Let me know should you have any questions regarding the procedure, will do my best to check reddit once in a while. For now all I can say is that I am extremely happy with the service I've received, we are in constant touch with dr Kumar and I am planning the 2nd surgery with him for the crown, most likely November 26.

Hair transplant temple revision

So I got my procedure done at In May of 2025. It’s been about a year, and I’ve not been too happy with the results. They did me for 4,500 grafts for the front and temples. I’ve pretty much had cobble stoning everywhere they implanted the graft. When I noticed the cobblestoning later they said it needs time, then when I asked again months later, they prescribed a topical that did nothing. When I asked where I could get a revision done, they said it’s not an issue and that I should use clay to stick the hair down which hasn’t worked. And for the cobblestoning they said look for a laser…

I’m not as much worried on the front because well the hair covers it if I grow it a little longer but the temples just look outlandish. I had assumed when they were going to do the temples they would match it with the side of my hair and have it lay as flat as possible. Well I’ll tell you this, it poofs out and looks ridiculous. It looks like a patch of hair that’s rises from the side. I have to strategically cover it with growing hair out and it’s a whole process.

Anyway, I was wondering if there is anyone who knows what I could do. Went from thinking if I got this procedure done I would feel free against the wind or not wearing a hat again, but now I feel 10x worse then before: Do I get the grafts punched out and have them done flatter? Also who’s the best doctor to go to for this revision? I’m not sure I can find any good one to handle this case for temple work. I’m also 23 now and got the procedure done at 22 and ran through 4500 grafts already so I want to be careful as some slight areas look sparse in my donor when I cut it short. Max I would prob look for a revision and touch up is 1,500 grafts at the max.

6-month update after my hair transplant with Dr. Bekir Bek in Ankara.

I’m honestly super happy with the result so far. I had 2,400 grafts done, and the outcome looks very natural. I get quite a lot of compliments, and a few friends have already asked me for his contact details.

Not to exaggerate, but life feels a bit like easy mode now that I simply look better and feel more confident. It has made a bigger difference than I expected.

My only real regret is not doing the temples. Looking back, I think that would have made the overall framing even better. The density is already quite good, so I’m not sure how much more it can still improve from here. I also don’t really notice month-to-month changes anymore, but maybe that’s normal at the 6-month mark.

Overall: very happy, natural result, no regrets except maybe being a bit too conservative with the temples.

What's the one thing you wish you'd known BEFORE you started researching hair transplants?

Not before surgery.

Before you even started researching.A lot of people arrive in hair transplant communities knowing almost nothing about grafts, donor areas, medications, shock loss, timelines, etc.

Looking back, what's the one thing you wish someone had told you at the very beginning?

For me, it was realizing how complicated hair loss actually is. I used to think the conversation started and ended with "hair transplant or no hair transplant."

Turns out that was the easy part.

Curious what everyone else's answer would be.

Dr. Canberk Turan - 3300 Grafts - Medblue Turkey

Hello all,

I have recently this past March hit one year post transplant from clinic Medblue located in Turkey.

Total amount of grafts - 3300

Total cost of procedure - 5500 (Canadian)

Age at surgery 30

Procedure done by - Dr. Oguz / Hairline and pre surgery and post surgery consultation done by Dr. Canberk Turan.

Previous to surgery I was on fin for about 2 years, and am continuing to take the medication for the foreseeable future.

Overall, the experience was pleasant, they provide pick up and drop off from Airport, clinic and hotel is about 30 mins drive from there. Transportation is also provided between clinic and hotel, and also post surgery hyberbaric chamber. Both drives are about 5-10 mins if I remember correctly.

The clinic experience was also very comforting and I felt immediate relief and provided my full trust into the staff and doctors. Zulal (Admin) was also quite reassuring of the process and very much controlled from leadership side, making sure you are doing well, checking in intermittently etc.

Dr Turan spent quite a bit of time working on my hairline, and also providing me clarity on why he drew it the way he did. Oguz and team handled the procedure.

I'm not sure what the cost of the procedure is now but I can say, for what I paid I'm very very satisfied. Not only did the clinic team focus on me for the entire day, the results that I have received are very good in my opinion. Often times people have a hard time believing I got any work done at all.

I can't recommend this clinic to you guys enough. If you are thinking about it, do it! It changed my entire life, from business to personal relationships. I feel like I'm living a completely different life from who I was prior to all of this. Hair does matter at least to me.

Hair transplant concern

Hi everyone,
I’m planning to get a hair transplant in Turkey this July. I have never experienced hair loss and I’m not currently losing hair either. My issue is simply that I was born with a high hairline and pronounced temples/recession, so my goal is to fill in the temple areas and lower my frontal hairline.
So far, I’ve received treatment plans and quotes from the following clinics:
Asli Tarcan
Serkan Aygin
Hermest
Smile Hair Clinic
Vera Clinic
Cosmedica
Aestepool
EsteNove
MicroFUE Turkey
Este Favor International
Hair of Istanbul
Lygos Clinic (Hair Center of Turkey)
MedHair Clinic
Dr. Cinik
Sule Clinic
Clinicana
Turkeyana
Dr. Yaman
I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had personal experience with any of these clinics. Would you recommend them or advise against them? If you have other clinics you think are worth contacting, I’d be happy to hear those recommendations as well.
Most of the quotes I’ve received are in the €2,500–€3,500 range for approximately 2,800–3,000 grafts. I have also spoken with some higher-end clinics charging €6,000–€9,000+, but that is beyond the budget I’m willing to spend.
My main concerns are achieving a natural-looking hairline and ensuring that the donor area heals well without looking overharvested or unnatural.
Any experiences, advice, recommendations, or things I should be aware of would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much!

Update: finally booked my hair transplant at Nova Medical Toronto!!

Ok so I posted here a while ago asking about Nova Medical in Toronto and didn’t really get responses lol but I went ahead anyway 😅

After talking to SO many clinics I finally decided to go with them. Procedure is booked for early July and I’m honestly freaking out haha

What sold me was how honest they were at the consultation, no crazy promises, just realistic expectations. After some other places basically promising miracles that meant a lot lol

Still super nervous but excited! Anyone who’s been through a hair transplant what were the first two weeks like?? I have no idea what to expect 😭

Any tips would be amazing!!

Best order for recovery dental, body surgery or hair transplant

“I’m scheduled for several procedures within a tight 12-day window in turkey. dental implants (full upper arch), major body surgeries (tummy tuck, 360 lipo, BBL, breast procedures), and a hair transplant. For those who’ve gone through multiple surgeries at once, what sequence did you follow, and how did it affect pain or recovery? Would you recommend doing dental first before major body surgery, or leaving dental until last? I want to understand what worked best for others in terms of overall comfort and healing. Any insights from real experience would be greatly appreciated!”

TIA

Hey guys,
I'm interested in comparing hair transplant prices around the world
Where are you from, and how much does a typical hair transplant cost there?

Do modern hair transplants actually look natural? Here's what determines the final result

We're American Mane, a hair transplant clinic in Miami, and one of the most common questions we get is: Will people be able to tell I had a hair transplant?

The short answer: a well-planned hair transplant shouldn't be the first thing people notice about you.

A lot of the unnatural-looking results people think of are usually from older procedures or cases where too many grafts were placed in the wrong areas. Modern FUE hair transplants focus on creating a hairline and density pattern that matches the person's age, facial features, and existing hair.

Some of the biggest factors that affect natural-looking results are:

• Hairline design (probably the most important part)
• Proper graft placement and angle
• Density distribution throughout the scalp
• Donor area management
• Matching the procedure to the patient's hair characteristics and future hair loss pattern

One thing we tell patients all the time is that a good hair transplant isn't about creating the lowest possible hairline. It's about creating something that looks like it naturally belongs there.

For anyone who's already had a hair transplant:

What do you think makes a result look natural vs unnatural?

And for those still researching hair restoration or FUE procedures, what questions do you have about the process?

Happy to answer anything.
