Can these “skirts” be worn on waist instead of chest?

Hello everyone,
I’m interested in buying this type of hanfu but wearing it above chest as intended would make it too short for me (I’m 184 cm tall so you can imagine how difficult it is to find a hanfu long enough). Would it be possible to wear it under chest as a high waisted skirt and wear some other hanfu style top tucked in? How would I secure since it would probably be a bit loose? I think length would be perfect for me that way. Thanks in advance for your help.

My Hanfu Haul!

So, whenever someone asks on this sub, where to buy quality Hanfu, I always recommend a store called New Hanfu.

I have a membership, but I don't order very often.

The Shoes

This is the first time I ordered shoes from them and the quality is amazing! I'll put some closeup photos in the comments.

There are strings that you add to keep them attached nicely but I was too excited to show them off.

The Outfit

I ordered an Outlet Lucky Pack and was a bit surprised with the short skirt. Just because my previous Lucky Packs all had long Hanfu Skirts but the store has an amazing selection of summer Hanfu as well so I shouldn't be surprised.

I styled it with some of my other pieces from the store but the top is beautiful as well and I'll show that in the comments too!

The Music

My favourite song from the Cdrama Fangs of Fortune

Disclaimer

I promise I'm not repping the store, I just appreciate them and this post would make no sense if I didn't explain.

1930s/20s dancing outfit?

I am going to a 20s/30 gatsby inspired social dancing. So waltz, tangos and swing dancing. I would love to do a Shanghai qipao look. Did women typically wear qipao out to dancing? Or do they were something less fitted and more similar to an Ao dai?

A 26-second visual timeline of polished clothing looks across five Chinese eras

This edited timeline compares clothing associated with different periods of Chinese history. The changes in silhouette, layering, collars, sleeves, color combinations, hair, and accessories are especially easy to see when the eras are presented in sequence.

It is a visual overview rather than a complete academic reconstruction. Clothing within every dynasty also varied by region, status, gender, occupation, and occasion. Surviving garments, tomb figures, murals, paintings, and period texts provide the deeper historical context behind these modern visual interpretations.

Help with this hairstyle

Hi there! I hope you're all doing well. I'm currently working on a wig for a Maomao cosplay (redesigned by SunsetDragon), but I've decided that instead of just "blocking it out" in simple shapes, I'd really love to do something inspired by more traditional styles since I think they're beautiful, and would compliment this cosplay best.

I've been searching for about an hour and a half, but I'm really struggling to find resources for this style. I've attached the one reference I was able to find below, but unfortunately it's not super helpful as there aren't any back angles, and I can't quite tell what's going on.

If anyone has any better references, or even better - could show in any format how they would bring this style into reality, it would be hugely appreciated!

I hope you have a lovely day!

The "Wuxia Hat" - How historical are these?

https://preview.redd.it/1enz9d4bh2ih1.png?width=690&format=png&auto=webp&s=3b9d5a7cd4b85d8ed8ef70233e8ed5e8e92201db

The cone-shaped straw hat seems endemic to all of east asia, but I've seen this particular style where there's a hole or an indent for the topknot only in a handful wuxia and historical dramas. Is this an actual historical style of hat, or something that tv producers made up? if so, why - was the cone-shaped hat not actually worn in dynastic china? were there not many wide-brimmed hats worn at all? I'm super interested in practical / ordinary historical clothing, so this has been bothering me for a while.
