Do we actually think Rio could beat Ilia?

Pretty much what the title says.

I have seen people say that m we are setting him up for failure when he is not going to beat Ilia and others say that Ilia will have to watch out from now on.

In my opinion, at least, I think Rio won't beat him. He is just turning senior and Ilia has been winning events by a 20-30 point difference.

I have heard people debate that Rio is the whole package. Which in a way I don't disagree? Like he definitely has better step sequences than Ilia but honestly components do nothing. Rio might beat Ilia at components but Ilia wins overall due to his technical.

Even if Rio gets a 4A (easier said than done) ilia has been doing it consistently for around 3 years now and it's not even worth that many points. So from Rio's part not that worth it really, he will most likely have many/some failed attempts for a jump that is just 1 point higher than the 4Lz.

It just feels Ilia is way ahead of everyone else. (The quad-quad combos in practice. The hinted quints) And even if Rio progresses so will Ilia. It's not like Rio will get better and Ilia will stay the same.

Am I biased here? Thoughts?

is ilia going to champs camp?

As far as i’m aware, all skaters competing in the senior Grand Prix Series kinda have to be there? 😭 but it’s ilia so who knows 💔

If Ilia does not compete in any challenger events, how long could we be waiting to see a program reveal?

Twitch stream leaks aside, how long will we have to wait until either the program music is announced or his ISU/USFS bio updates to display the music? could we be waiting into october or even november?

Ilia 2026-27 Season Bingo, as promised

I recently suggested making bingo boards for Ilia's season and everyone had great ideas for squares! Here's some boards, and the link to generate your own and make changes is below. Thanks to everyone who participated. I hope most of this happens!

Throwback performance of the day #19: "Succession" at 2024 Stars on Ice Japan

That time Ilia wore an actual purple costume.

When and where: March 31, 2024 in Osaka, Japan

Jumps: 3A, 4Lz, 3Lo, 4S (the commentator says he did a 3Lz, but Ilia bamboozled her)

What's notable: Ilia only performed Succession as an exhibition skate two times - at two stops on the SOI 2024 tour. This Osaka performance is the only performance that we have video of. By extension, this is the only video we have of this purple costume. After the retirement of Succession, it was never seen again.

Shoutout to the Ina Bauer at 3:14.

Does anyone know for sure whether Kao has actually made it to Virginia?

From Ilia’s earlier stream, he mentioned Kao would come visit him on August 17th. It’s unclear if that meant Kao was departing or arriving on that date. Either way, it’s almost been a full day now😾

Of course, Ilia and Kao are entitled to their own privacy and they are under no obligation to post any snaps or photos. Still, as you can imagine, fans are really curious about Kao’s trip to Virginia. Even if they do not share anything online, I’m pretty sure Kao will get asked about this trip in interviews once he heads back home.

Alright, this thread is open. If anyone has any updates regarding Kao and Ilia, feel free to drop them here so we can know. Thanks a lot😸

Challenger Event

Since we all know Ilia can't be trusted . . .

I know he said in a live a few months ago that he wasn't doing any challenger events. But I believe I also heard him say on Sunday that Skate America might or might not be his first skate.

With the assumption that he is skipping Champs Camp, wouldn't him picking up a challenger make more sense? I'm still learning and new to all of this, but wouldn't he want to put his stuff out in front of someone to get feedback - so if he would need to change something, he would have the time to do that?

I know Skate America is still 2 months away so he has plenty of time to perfect everything, I'm just so curious about how it all works.

Jackie Wong uses Ilia as an example to discuss new rules for this season

I saw this video a few days ago and found it really interesting. Jackie breaks down how the new rules on jumping passes and changes in base values for other elements might affect different disciplines. Based on this, it seems we should expect that Ilia's scores could be lower this season. I knew losing a combo would an issue but it seems that the male singles skaters will be most affected, especially those who jump high value combos, which is a big focus for Ilia.

The whole video is interesting but the part specific to Ilia starts around 6:00 minutes in.

Throwback performance of the day #18: "Running" at 2025 U.S. Nationals

This is the second version of Running I'm posting. The first version I uploaded was Running in its unpolished form at Dreams on Ice, and now I'm sharing Running as a finished product.

When and where: January 25, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas

Jumps: 4F, 3A, 4Lz+3T

What's notable: First and most importantly, this is the one performance of Running where Ilia is wearing the top of the depressed candy cane costume, but not the pants. What happened to his pants (and his Team USA jacket) during this competition is a mystery.

Ilia's score of 114.08 was, at the time, the third highest scoring short program in U.S. Nationals history, right behind a pair of Nathan Chen programs. It would later be also beaten by Ilia's performance of The Lost Crown the following season.

Ilia bauer

After the recent twitter controversy over his Ina Bauer and whether it sucked or not, it got me to thinking. Who in the men’s field right now is doing this move? I am aware of Yuma and Jun but who else. Is this a skill that is hard to do therefore not many men are doing it or am I just missing it. Also, I think Ilia has a great baure!
