General thoughts on the art in my friend and I's anime style fighter?

This is my first time animating in general and also first time animating for a fighting game so feedback on the art specifically would be appreciated.

It's been about a year since we've started and this project was really only for fun so we haven't been working very hard so its been on and off and because of that it's still quite early into development.

The character currently being shown is mostly a place holder for now just so I can throw out more animations quicker without worrying about the details

[PC Browser] [2010’s] Old Y8 2D fighting game (MUGEN style) with white-haired character and purple crystal powers

Hi everyone, I’ve been trying to find an old fighting game I used to play years ago on Y8 during the Flash era and I just can’t seem to remember the name of it. I’ve already searched a lot of similar games like MUGEN compilations, Anime Battle, and Comic Stars Fighting, but none of them seem to be the exact one I’m thinking of.
The game was a 2D fighting game with a strong Street Fighter or MUGEN style feel to it. It was fully focused on 1v1 fights only, so there were no extra modes like story mode, team battles, or anything like that. You would just pick a character and go straight into a fight. The graphics were pixelated but still fairly detailed, something like a 16-bit or 32-bit anime style rather than simple 8-bit sprites. It looked like one of those older Flash fighting games that Y8 used to host a lot back in the day.
I remember that the game had multiple versions or sequels, and they all had a similar roster of characters. It felt like each version was an updated or slightly improved version of the same game rather than completely different entries.
The character I remember most clearly was a male fighter with white messy spiky hair. His hair wasn’t super short but not long either, kind of medium length and very messy, similar to characters like Dante from Devil May Cry or Toji Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen. He was shirtless and had a very noticeable purple star-like symbol or seal on his chest. It almost looked like some kind of magical or cursed mark rather than a normal tattoo.
His abilities were based around purple crystal powers. He could shoot crystal-like projectiles and also summon crystal spikes from the ground that would erupt upward. The effects were very flashy and stood out compared to other characters in the game. I remember him feeling like either a boss character or at least a very special unlockable type of fighter.
The game itself felt like it was built in a MUGEN style engine or something very similar, where characters had exaggerated special effects and very anime-inspired designs. The overall vibe was similar to games like Anime Battle or Comic Stars Fighting, but I’m fairly sure it was not those exact games. I’ve already checked them and the roster and gameplay don’t match what I remember.
It was definitely something I played on Y8 during the Flash game era, probably somewhere between the late 2000s and early 2010s. I don’t remember any platforming or exploration elements, just straight fighting matches in a single arena.
If anyone recognizes this character or the game from this description, I would really appreciate the help. I’ve been trying to find it for a long time and it’s one of those childhood games that randomly comes back to my memory but I can never fully identify it.

The Future of Rule #3? The Joust - New Physics-Based Fighting Game - Semi-Public Playtest

Dear r/Fighters,

Hello! I'm here today to introduce a fun new fighting game to this subreddit! This subreddit has a bunch of great people that enjoy fighting games, so it seems like a great place to invite some folks to play!

I'm the lead architect, primary engineer, game designer, and one of two sound producers for The Joust.

The Joust is currently in a semipublic playtest on Steam and we're hoping to get feedback from the internet at large about how the game plays and how it might perform on their various hardwares around the world!

We believe The Joust is a great game over which redditors can settle Rule #3 disputes around here.

Attached is the first public press-kit document for The Joust and it's semi-public playtest!

Also attached is a list of Steam Keys that can be redeemed via:

Games > Activate a Product on Steam > {enter code}

Note: they're annoyingly in image format because a bunch of bots ate all of the last ones!

The Joust Community Discord is rapidly expanding as well:

https://discord.gg/Mk7EhzwEuC

Questions welcome and encouraged!

Most gratefully,

The Joust

p.s. we have playable quadrupeds!

I'm looking for a game with raw, street-style brawling—something similar to *007 First Light* or visually like *Samson*

I'm looking for a game that features that kind of interaction with the environment, with combat that doesn't feel too much like martial arts but still has style. *007* sparked that interest in me with the ability to grab an enemy and throw them against a wall

It’s fine if it’s complex, and it’s fine if it’s simple, but I want it to be enjoyable.
