Hello sir/ ma'am.

I am going to start my college soon and I am going to do bsc in a major which is not really that popular (Language sciences)plus it's non technical field.

Before anyone asks why I am doing this? Frankly, I don't think I'm really good and interested at traditional subjects and after seeing a fair share of failures I reached this ultimatum of pursuing what I like and hopefully will enjoy as well.

I have browsed through a lot of subs and it was mostly for tech grads. So I just need some insights and any general advice would be really helpful.

What kind of skills should I learn to survive in today's job market ?? Like the non-negotiable ones. Even if you are dying,you should be pro at them.

And how do I start building my resume. I read alot of articles here and there and ended up more confused.

It might come off as a bit annoying but I am just shit scared of ending up unemployed 😭😭even before starting this whole journey .

I'm in my final year appearing for college placements again and again. Recently i appeared for this company called NammaYatri. It's a child company of Juspay. Initially we were around 600 students

I cleared 1st OA, then 2nd OA, then a personal interview about my projects and dsa in which the interviewer praised me alot and even asked my LinkedIn to connect with me. After that a hackathon part B of 7 hours continuously trying to optimise and make the tree code thread safe.

Seriously, you are asking interns to make code thread safe that too without using locks, mutex, semaphores or any pre built functions.

How am I supposed to do what I've never been taught. Colleges and even online tutors teach os in theory and dsa seperately. Never in my dreams I ever imagined i had to prevent deadlock in a dsa code.

Some how after exhausting my mind I was able to make it threads safe without any locks , support parallelism which prevents all race conditions. Then immediately I was asked for the system design round. I had around half an hour.

In the system round again he asked about the code that I made thread safe and then some puzzle questions. Then asked how to search nearby drivers. I answered all questions with almost 80 percent correctness just not the puzzle question.

After that he asked me some question and i answered forward proxy to it.

He waited for a lil and said its correct but then asked me to code forward Proxy.???

Most students my batch wouldn't even know what forward proxy is and how's it different from api gateway etc..

I still did and after i got back and checked my code was almost 85% correct to what I explained to him. Most things i implemented are same to what gpt wrote. He then asked me to explain my projects but no cross questioning or follow ups. It was like he didn't even wanted to ask anything. I tried multiple times to drop some keywords so that he might cross question from there but he was only stuck with his questions.. sometimes I give the complete answer and then he asks " You were saying something". Like he wasn't even listening to me while I was solving the questions.

3-4 hours OA, 3 hours interview and 7 hours hackathon all went down the drain and I didn't even counted for the mental strain.

Out of 600 I went to the last 5 who gave the system round and only 1 went on to the HR round.

Is this what it takes to get an internship in 2026. I'm way ahead of most people my batch. Both my projects are dockeried and deployed on AWS while others have projects on render and hosted on my custom domain.

Even after all this it feels not enough to get an internship.
