Is the upgrade to a Swiss movement worth it?
Not sure if this belongs here but I have had my eye on IXDAO since the E came out and I was amazed at the finishing from the reviews I saw, never bought one.
I already have a watch with a PT5000 in it and it's good but it was also half the cost the Warrior is with the same movement and I have a hard time spending nearly $400 on a Chinese/microbrand watch that has a $50 movement even though my PT in my other watch so far has been good.
I'm thinking a nicer watch of this caliber should have a proper movement though. And I've since been rationalizing the $500 price tag on an SW200 powered version since it still seems like a great deal. Most watches of this quality with this movement are north of $1k. What I'm asking though is will I really notice a difference? Is it worth it if I plan on keeping the watch for a long time?
I was going to go black enamel dial so I can wear it whenever I want with anything I want so I'd want to get good use out of it, hence why I think the Swiss upgrade could be worth it. My hangup is that the 9015 version was about 1/3rd less than the SW200 will be now and I'm wondering if that markup is worth it, not that I can even buy a Miyota one anyways now.
I also feel like changing the time and date on my watch with the PT5000 just doesn't feel refined, not sure if that is a flaw inherent to the general 2824 design or if it's the cheaper movement showing its flaws. If anyone has experienced both and has opinions let me know what your experience is.
