Got my Jlab Jbuds Lux Anc - Fooled by reviews here and now very dissappointed

The sound is so fkin low i need to play at full volumes to reach the sound output of my previous boat headphones.

And the delay is annoying alongwith the narrator's irritating voice at every button press.

Comfort is good , ANC okayish , good sound but needs to be tweaked to get the bass otherwise it's negligible.

JLab JBuds Lux - EQ Profile

Finally made it!

I searched for a good EQ for these, couldn't find much so I made it.

JLab JBuds Lux ANC - Custom EQ

31Hz -2

62Hz -1

125Hz +1

250Hz 0

500Hz 0

1kHz +1

2kHz +3

4kHz +1

8kHz +2

16kHz +2

Reference:

250Hz and 500Hz are left at the stock Custom EQ position and treated as 0.

Now the story:

I bought this headphone while I recommended it to my colleague for a good headphone below ₹5K (INR), where usually Soundcore Q20 is being suggested mostly.

I own a lot of gears including both high end and midranges like Bose QC Ultra, Sennheiser Momentum, Sony ULT Wear, Skullcandy Crusher Evo, and many others including IEMs, open-ear reference grades. Also my reference grade IEM is Truthear Hexa coupled with Hiby W4 dual DAC-AMP.

I said these because I know the audio, I'm both an audiophile and an enjoyer of music. And I do look for the technicalities and tonal balances, it's hard wired to my brain.

I know how things like instruments and vocals should sound.

I wanted to try these, I heard a lot about 'JLab Signature' and when I recommended this to 2 of my colleagues, I got one too in Sage colour.

Because this has USB C audio, that's convenient sometimes, and also this can be used as my quick go to pair because it's really well built (You should know my Sonys scares me, it feels so fragile even though I baby my headphones and take good care of them! 🫠).

I got these last week, we got them for 3.6K INR on sale, with card offers! I tried them on and the first impression was it does sound better than tinny sounding Soundcore Q20, but the imaging and tonal balance is way off. Nothing sounded natural and it was so bloated bass with weakest treble. Bad combination.

Even when I tried the 'Balanced' preset, it was so much processed.

Then I found that 'Custom' actually turns off the DSP processing completely - even trying the same EQ profile they gave in 'Signature' sounds so much different in custom, again without their DSP processing.

I built it from there, with A-B testing, trusting my ears more than the graphs.

Points to note:

  1. EQ in default mode (i.e., when everything '0') is not centred. They are more off-centred but that is actually a flat profile.

  2. Headphone stores the last selected EQ onboard, so when you connect through USB-C wired, it will use the onboard memory EQ.

DON'T cycle through EQ while on wired, with buttons!

In wired, you can't access the app, the only way to change EQ is holding '+ and -' buttons simultaneously to cycle through EQ, BUT it will only cycle through 3 JLab DSP profiles (Signature, Balanced, Bass boosted) and not custom. You have to connect thru bluetooth and set custom again in the app, if you do so. I would say, set custom EQ once and never touch it again!

  1. I did made sub-bass (31 band) one step below because if you are listening to a lot of electronic mixes it might feel exciting at first but will get fatigued after a long session. This one with that slight boost in 125 makes the low end not bloated, but more tight and punchy without bleed to lower mids. And that +3db on 2K improved the presence.

Now these are more enjoyable, with most details and imaging this driver can produce faithfully. Better soundstage and timbre now.

I'd suggest using this EQ on wired mode, and if you have access to Lossless or Hi-res Lossless it will be great (in wired mode, obviously!).

I hope you enjoy this, and always open to suggestions. I wished they provided an option to save profiles because I'm scared of accidental touches to that 'reset to default' button! 🤣

After sales service - Appreciation post!

Hello :)

About 18 months ago, I bought a pair of JBuds Mini in Sage Gray.
I didn’t particularly like the color, but they were the cheapest option, and since I only intended to use them as a spare pair at the gym, it didn’t really matter.

However, after about a month of using them, I realized that they actually sounded great, and that the mic was more than decent for such a tiny pair of earbuds. So I ended up really liking them! :)

After about 14 months, though, the batteries in both earbuds had deteriorated quite badly. On a full charge, I was only getting about an hour of use, perhaps even less from the right earbud, the one I had been using the most.

I was disappointed, so I contacted JLab customer service. I explained the problem, and within minutes they had agreed to replace them - and they even let me choose the color!

This is great. Really excellent customer service! I’m sure other brands offer the same level of service, but I just wanted to share my experience with JLab.

So there we are - well done, JLab 😊👍
Best way to create loyalty!

Creaking noise in Jlabs Jbuds Lux Sage color

I Bought the Headphones on 29-06-2026. I started noticing the creaking sounds 10 days after buying and it seem much more pronounced in the left cup. I read in this sub that applying WD-40 might help reduce but how do I apply it ? are there any other solutions. Other than this issue im very happy and satisfied with this product.

EDIT: I used the WD-40 specialist and the creaking is gone for now.

JLab JBuds Lux ANC — My Honest Review

This is the fourth time I’ve ordered the Jlab Jbuds Lux anc a nd this one for myself. My Jbl live 770nc ear cups are badly damaged, and since there was sale going on, I decided to geta jlab for myself One more baby in my collection 😅. If I talk about the sound, honestly, I don’t think any headphones come close to these under 5k They are slightly loud too, and 40mm drivers are more than capable of delivering good sound. The sound feels nicely separated , so vocals, instruments and bass don’t all feel like they’re mixed together, bass is little boosted, which I personally like, and the highs are good too. The mids are okay, nothing special, but overall the sound is really enjoyable for the price. The app is decent, not the best, but you do get multi band Eq to play around with according to your taste and preference, Spatial audio is also there, but honestly, I don’t find it that useful. You can notice a slight difference, but nothing crazy. I also noticed that they sound little better when connected through cable, although I’m not going to make any big hiRes audio claims coz I couldn’t find about it on the box or website. Anc is the weakest, but it’s not terrible either. It’s not the best, but it’s definitely not the worst. It’s around 30/35dB, so I’d say it’s just okayish. And be aware mode (Transparency Mode) makes everything sound slightly artificial and robotic. Coming to the build quality, they are mostly plastic, but they definitely don’t feel cheap or less premium. One small Con - issue is that you can sometimes hear a little creaking from the plastic when moving or adjusting them. I haven’t faced it with this new pair yet, but my sister’s Jlab had the same issue and it went away after using them regularly fora few days Overall, the best headphones.

...I’ve noticed that a lot of guyz, especially college students and young people, ask me for headphone recommendations, so I’d say don’t blindly trust anyone’s recommendation, including mine. Everyone has different preferences when it comes to sound, comfort, and fit, so if you have any doubt, try the headphones yourself before spending your money. And don’t buy a pair of headphones just coxz you see a lot of people wearing them or coz many are talking about them. What works for one person might not work for you, so pick something that actually suits your ears, your usage, and your budget. Hope this helps. God bless, buddies Wishing you all the best and lots of success in life.Tc

⚠️Urgent: Should I buy the JLab JBuds Lux ANC?

Guys, this is the last time I’m asking because the sale is going on🥀🥀

Should I buy the JLab JBuds Lux ANC? My main usage is going to be 7–8 hours of online lectures every day. My priorities are comfort, sound quality and durability.

Please give me honest opinions if you’ve used them. I’m really confused.

Also, my preferred color might go out of stock, so please reply fast!

Which budget ANC headphones would you choose for college lectures, studying, and music?

I’m trying to choose a pair of over-ear headphones for college. I’ll be using them for recorded/online lectures, studying for a few hours at a time, and listening to music.

These are the options I’m currently considering:

  • JLab JBuds Lux ANC
  • Soundcore Q20i
  • JBL Tune 770NC
  • JBL Live 770NC
  • Raycon Fitness Over-Ear Headphones
  • Raycon Everyday Headphones
  • Urbanista Valencia

I am open to other option as well.

My biggest priorities are:

  1. Clear voices for lectures/podcasts
  2. Good active noise cancellation for studying around background noise
  3. Comfort for 2–4+ hour study sessions
  4. Good music quality
  5. Good battery life
  6. Reliable Bluetooth/multipoint connection

Right now I’m leaning toward the JLab JBuds Lux ANC, Soundcore Q20i, or one of the JBLs.

For anyone who has actually owned or tried these, which would you recommend? I’m especially interested in real-world ANC performance, comfort after a few hours, sound quality, and durability.

I am on a budget so staying under $180 would be great!

Thanks!
