Found a hidden gem Ryokan in Nishi-Izu, Japan! "Banjou-ya" offers amazing seafood and authentic hot springs. ♨️🐟

Hello everyone! I recently stayed at a traditional guesthouse (Minshuku) called "Banjou-ya" in Kumomi Onsen, Nishi-Izu, and it was absolutely fantastic. To my surprise, a massive boat-wrap of fresh sashimi and a whole simmered splendid alfonsino (Kinmedai) were included as standard! The natural hot spring (Onsen) was super authentic and rejuvenating. If you're exploring the Izu Peninsula and want a truly local, warm experience with incredible food, I highly recommend booking directly with them. Check out my full review with photos on my blog! It's been exactly one year since my first solo trip to Japan. My second trip to Japan, I decided to brave summer holidays (which is usually not recommended in that period). The high temperature and humidity were a daily challenge, but it was an amazing experience. I'd like to share here some pictures I took that capture what this trip meant to me!

Next generation in training! Kids watching and dancing along at Ikeda Awa Odori Festival

While the adults performed their traditional dance in full costume, local kids in the crowd couldn't resist dancing along while watching them. It was so heart-warming to see how this centuries-old tradition gets passed down to the next generation naturally.
Location: Miyoshi City, Tokushima Prefecture
Event: Ikeda Awa Odori Festival (いけだ阿波踊り)

Trip to Yugawara Onsen - One of my favourite hot spring gateway near Tokyo

When I want some calm and relaxation time, one of my favourite destination is Yugawara Onsen. It's not too far from Tokyo and you can rest peacefully here in a cool retro vibe.

Manazuru port is close so make sure to go there and enjoy the fresh fish and seafood!

I listed here some of the best places to visit while you are in Yugawara Onsen.

Nachi Falls during pandemic, January 2022.

English / 日本語 / Français

January 2022, Japan. 🇯🇵
In the middle of the COVID period, I visited Nachi Falls — and the place was completely deserted.
I found myself alone in front of this immense waterfall, surrounded by nature and silence. Literally no other visitors. Just me, the shrine staff, and the sound of the water.
Standing there, facing one of Japan’s most beautiful waterfalls with absolutely nobody around, felt almost unreal.
A magical moment that I’ll never forget.

20221****月、日本。🇯🇵

Janvier 2022, Japon. 🇯🇵
