Semi-spherical bearings
New to me used wheelset. Noticed the freehub was moving a bit strangely. Dual inner bearings were exploded. All bearings split in half 😅🫠
Project bike is being painted on Friday. Bearings removal was today
This poor bike.
Cultivating a little garden on my brakes
Literally Justridingalong for hundreds of kilometers. These Maguras are toast, they're probably full of sand from the previous owner. They barely, just barely retract from the rim.
Cx had friend try to fix rim by… using pliers to turn the spokes.
Maybe time for some new friends, bud.
(Can’t edit the title of the post, cx is shorthand for customer.)
"I bought it like this and I've been riding it for 3 months"
How many scratches does a carbon seatpost need to have before it should not be ridden?
I am thinking about buying a 0mm offset, flexy seatpost and there is one on ebay.
Right-ish Bike wrong tyres
Attempted another metric century ride on a route I'd never done. Knew when I left home that I should take my mountain bike and not my gravel bike that I treat like a road bike having put slicks on it. Still took the gravel bike.
The route was from my home in Invercargill nz out to oreti beach and follow the coast along to another township of Riverton some 40kms away. Ride around and explore Riverton and some of the beaches then take the roads home.
The bike choice is debatable. Gravel and MTB are pretty much the same in some cases. Think 90s hard tail MTB with drop bars.
I knew that high tide was at 1330 so I figured I would be fine leaving home at 0900. 27kms in and I realized I was wrong.
Riding along the seaside I came to a river crossing that I decided not to do and took a trail that I prayed the slicks would cope with. They didn't. Did 28kms.
Was a hell of a walk home. I'll take the MTB next time.
Just wanted to share. And hear anyone else's stories of times they knew better but ignored it anyway.
Scratches on carbon Steerer Tube
I removed my stem for the first time, to change stack height, and noticed these scratches, one of which looks a little deep. There is no movement when pressing, no feeling of loose fibers, no cracks inside the steerer either. Does this mean it's just cosmetic?
I think it's just locked out
I bought a used bike of marketplace. I knew it was in rough shape, but I never really tested the fork. The guy said "I only use in lockout mode"
This fork does not have a lockout and I had to use a jack to get the lowers off.
