I built a real-time K-beauty ranking tracker because I wanted to see what's actually trending in Korea vs Globally.

Hey everyone!

As a software engineer living in Seoul and a huge K-Beauty fan, I’ve always noticed a fascinating gap: the products that are super hyped among global fans (like Beauty of Joseon or Anua) are often totally different from what locals are actually queuing up to buy at Olive Young here in Korea.

To satisfy my own curiosity and help fellow K-beauty lovers who want to see the real local trends, I spent my weekends building a clean, automated dashboard that tracks and translates Olive Young’s Top 100 rankings in real-time.

What the tool does right now:

* Automatically fetches the official Olive Young rankings and updates them continuously.

* Fully translated into English.

* Features a 'Global' tab so you can filter products specifically popular for international shipping, alongside the domestic local charts.

Since I am running and developing this project all by myself, I would absolutely love to get your honest feedback!

* What features should I add next? (e.g., specific ingredient filters, price trackers?)

* Does the English translation look natural to you guys?

Hope this helps with your next K-beauty haul! I'll leave the access info down in the comments since I want to respect the community's submission rules regarding external links. Let me know what you think!

When did you first start taking anti-aging skincare seriously?

Lately I've started noticing a few really fine lines around my eyes, and I know they're probably just normal expression lines, but they've made me think more about anti-aging skincare. Up until now I've mostly just focused on keeping my skin hydrated and wearing sunscreen, but I'm wondering if this is the point where I should start using something specifically for anti-aging.

My skin is pretty sensitive, so I'm a little hesitant to jump straight into a strong retinol. Are there moisturizers that are a good introduction to anti-aging, or products with gentler retinoids or lower-strength retinol that are better for beginners? For those of you who started noticing the first signs of aging, what did you end up using? I'd love to hear what worked for you.

When my skin isn't doing well, I usually find myself looking for a new product.

But lately I've been wondering if the problem isn't always the product itself. Maybe we just give up on products too quickly.

We'll try something for a few days, decide it's not working, switch to something else, and then repeat the cycle. Sometimes I wonder if we never give a product enough time to actually know whether it works for us.

Of course, if a product is causing irritation or making things worse, stopping makes sense. But for everything else, how long do you usually stick with a new product before deciding it's not for you?

I love this CYoung Hana cream!

CYoung made it and I tried! Please try this one.

eyeshadow recommendation

hi everyone! I’m pretty new to Korean skin care. I started about a year ago and I’ve had a really good results with switching my skin care over. I’m used to American beauty eyeshadows as far as pigmentation. Are there any K or J beauty recommendations that are pigmented and easy to blend? Thank you so much for your help and God bless.

Any tips for hyperpigmentation? 😩

I've been trying to fade some stubborn hyperpigmentation, and I feel like I've reached the point where I've tried almost everything people recommend online.

For context, my hyperpigmentation is mostly from old acne marks, and while some spots eventually fade, others seem to stick around forever. I've been consistent with sunscreen, but progress feels so slow.

3 month progress on stubborn dark spots after laser toning

i took these photos 3 months apart because i honestly thought my cheek pigmentation was never going to budge. the first pic is from march, and the second one is from last week. same side of my face, similar lighting, and no heavy base makeup. i just wanted to see if anything was actually changing or if i was just convincing myself.

my main issue was stubborn brown spots and sun damage around my cheeks. no active acne, no texture bumps. just those flat marks that make your skin look uneven and muddy no matter how calm the rest of your face feels.

i tried so many over-the-counter brightening products before this, but nothing gave me enough of a visible change. so i stopped pretending and ended up doing mild laser toning at a local clinic because the pigment was clearly sitting deeper than my skincare could reach.

the laser sessions were quick, but my skin felt so dry and reactive afterward. it didn't look destroyed, but it felt tight, sensitive, and way easier to irritate than usual. the clinic told me to drop all aggressive acids and exfoliants, so i had to focus entirely on keeping my barrier calm. boring, but necessary.

around that time, i started using the dr.percent dark spot correcting pink glow cream at night as my main moisturizer. i was skeptical at first because the pink color seemed kind of odd to me, but the texture was surprisingly light and it didn't feel greasy on my cheeks.

the laser definitely did the heavy lifting. but the cream made it easier to stay consistent without my skin feeling stripped or angry after each session. after about a month, the edges of the darker patches started looking less sharp. by the 3-month mark, my overall tone was way more even and the cheek area didn't look as muddy.

the biggest difference came from combining the clinic treatment with a simple recovery routine instead of throwing five different brightening actives at my face. if you're dealing with stubborn pigment that's plateaued, honestly look at your whole routine instead of expecting one product to do everything. the laser helped. consistency helped. and keeping my barrier calm helped way more than i expected.

Stop gatekeeping, what's the best K-beauty hydrogel mask you've ever used?

Some people LOVE by Biodance, others say VT gives better results, and I've seen a lot of love for COSRX and Be Wants lately too.

If you could only buy one hydrogel mask from now on, which would it be and why?

Did you notice a real difference in hydration, glow, redness, skin texture, or was it mostly just a nice self-care moment?

I'm looking for honest opinions, especially from people who've tried multiple brands. 👀

Which hydrogel mask is worth the hype, and which one isn't? ✨🫧

Which eye patches have been a total game changer for you?

I’ve heard so many good things about the eye patches from abib with retinal on Tiktok, but I’d love to hear your recommendations. Which ones made the biggest difference for you guys?:)

First impression review on my new hair volumizing products!

Wanna share my first impression review on a new Kundal haircare line that I got during prime. I was looking for some volumizing products specifically since I do blowouts almost every day, but I was waiting for a sale so if the product isn't good at least I won't regret it too much haha. Overall I loved the smell, it's pistachio vanilla which is giving exotic, tropical and quirky. Definitely a perfect scent for summer in my opinion and I feel like pistachio is having a moment lately

Now about the products:

  1. Texture Hair Spray - I liked the spray a lot. It says you can apply it on dry or wet hair but I recommend using it on wet hair before drying, that's when it holds the volume the best. A really great thing about this spray is that it doesn't make my hair greasy like a lot of other texturizing sprays do. It also doesn't overdry the hair which is a huge advantage for me since I expose my hair to heat almost every day, definitely don't need any additional frying lol

  2. Volumizing Hair Powder - ngl guys, I don't like powder textures in general, especially for hair. I tried a similar product once and my hair got so stiff and the texture was so uncomfortable that I had to wash it off right away. But this powder actually surprised me, it feels like nothing on the roots, doesn't give that squeaky feeling and in combination with the spray gives pretty solid volume! The volume stayed for about 4-5 hours considering I was out the whole time and my hair is quite heavy

So yeah, overall, very satisfied with this purchase and plan to continue using it! If anyone tried these products or any similar ones, feel free to share!

My perfect everyday combo! It suits my warm undertone really well and it's giving very lightweight effect! (Please ignore my ugly purse tho...)
The tint is in the shade 14 Teddy Mocca and the lip pencil is in 17 Taupe Beige

K-beauty wishlist vs Prime Day reality did it actually deliver this year?

How did everyone’s Prime Day go this year 👀

Did you find really good deals, or was it kind of underwhelming? Especially for the K-beauty goodies...did your wishlist actually go on sale?

What did you end up buying? Or what were you hoping would go on sale but never did? And for those who actually bought something, was it actually worth it, or are you already feeling some buyer’s remorse?
