First time trying K-beauty sunscreen, which one should I start with?

I haven’t tried Korean sunscreens before but I keep hearing they’re a lot better in terms of texture and wearability than most Western ones, so I want to finally give one a go.

If you were recommending just one to someone trying K-beauty sunscreen for the first time, which one would it be and why? I’m basically looking for something easy to wear every day that doesn’t feel heavy, greasy, or leave a white cast, and ideally works well under makeup too.

There are so many names floating around like beauty of joseon, round lab, isntree, and I’m a bit overwhelmed, so I’d love to hear what actually worked best for you in real life.

Anyone using spatulas to apply makeup, can you convince me? Like what's the benefit?

Seriously I don't understand spatulas especially since I still need to go in and blend it out normally after.

If you only had $30 to build a K-beauty routine, what would you skip first?

With a budget like that, I think I’d focus less on squeezing in as many products as possible and more on figuring out which steps I could realistically leave out depending on skin type.

For sensitive or dry skin, I’d probably keep the basics: cleanse with something from K-beauty Brand R, moisturize with a product from Brand E, and finish with sunscreen from Brand S. In that case, toner, essence, and serum would probably be the first things I’d cut.

For combination or oily skin, though, I think there’s another way to do it.

You could cleanse with Brand C, use a light soothing toner from Brand A, and then finish with a hydrating sunscreen from Brand B.

Instead of adding a separate moisturizer, I’d let the sunscreen do more.

If the sunscreen already gives you enough hydration, it can handle part of that moisturizing role while still giving you sun protection. With a $30 budget, that kind of multitasking can make a lot of sense.

Of course, I wouldn’t suggest skipping moisturizer for someone with very dry skin. What you can leave out really depends on your skin type and the formulas you’re using.

So I’m curious:

If you only had $30, what would you skip first?

Toner? Serum? Moisturizer? Or something else?

Talk me off the ledge... 🤣

Do I need these? 🙅🏻‍♀️

Do I want to try these? 🙋🏻‍♀️

Am I still waiting on my most recent order to arrive? 🙇🏻‍♀️

In this economy, should I be spending ANY money? Not unless I can drive it, eat it, or sleep in it. 🧏🏻‍♀️

So, tell me why these products suck! 🤦🏻‍♀️

Is Smooche worth the hype?

I recently came across the ad for Smooche Korean skincare + color match foundation. I’m really interested in trying it but is it really worth the hype? I’m older so I have fine lines and aging skin and stopped wearing makeup about 10 years ago because it just makes me look older. What are the thoughts here?

Convince me toners are worth it, I'm skeptical

Okay I have to ask because this has been on my mind for a while, are toners actually doing anything or are we all just putting fancy water on our faces?

I've been trying to build a solid kbeauty routine and toner always comes up as a must-have step but honestly I'm not convinced.

I want to believe but I need someone to change my mind, or confirm my suspicions. Has toner actually made a noticeable difference in your routine? And if so, which one?

What’s one K-beauty product you will defend with your LIFE?

Not just “it’s good.” I mean a product you would immediately repurchase if it disappeared tomorrow.

The kind of product that made you understand the hype instantly.

Mine would probably be Korean sunscreens in general because they completely ruined Western sunscreens for me texture and scent-wise 😭

How do you guys usually decide what K-beauty products to buy in the US?

I’ve been getting more into Korean skincare lately, but sometimes I honestly have no idea where to start.
If I see a product on TikTok, I’m not sure if it’s actually good for my skin, or even where I can buy it in the US.

How do you usually figure out what to buy and where to buy it?
