With the MAYHEM era coming to a close and probably all songs having been released, do you have your own version of MAYHEM? Explain what you removed, what you added, and what you switched!
I started with the Deluxe. I don't like The Dead Dance. I don't consider it a part of MAYHEM either, though sonically it fits, it's bit too much of the same thing after the vastly superior Zombieboy. So TDD was out.
I think Happy Mistake is truly a masterpiece and fits so neatly into MAYHEM, with metaphors like "my head is filled with broken mirrors" reflecting the album cover. I had initially added Happy Mistake between The Beast and Blade of Grass, removing Die With A Smile. That worked fine until...
...The new version of Die With A Smile. It's just an excellent closer. So so so powerful.
And to be honest, I am not a fan of Blade of Grass, so now that there's another credible closer, for me, it didn't make the final cut.
That intro, the strong structure, the instrumental, the acronym and title itself, the lyrical themes, THAT bridge and outro. It has a lot of different elements it! Fun to listen too as well!
Fake Gaga fan alert, but I only recently decided to give Mayhem a spin from start to finish - I was never super crazy about Abracadabra (!!!) so I thought the album wouldn't be for me, but holy moly I am so glad I gave it a chance. It may be her best album as a whole (well, that or Born This Way), but the song that stood out to me the most was How Bad Do U Want Me - I fell in love with it the moment I heard it. I love the melody, the production, the lyrics, just everything about it
I was super excited to read people's thoughts about it, but all I could find were people calling it mid or a Taylor Swift knockoff. Now granted I have never been a huge TS fan, but...are we hearing the same song? I feel like HBDUWM has so much depth and subversion behind it. To me, it's a beautifully executed, elevated take on radio pop and a critique of society's expectations of both Gaga as an artist and against women as a whole (down to the double entendre in the song's title). Also, not to be a shady bitch, but just play a track on 1989 and this back to back and tell me they are even in the same LEAGUE when it comes to production...sorry not sorry 💅
People love her other poppy tracks like Summerboy, but seem to really not click with this song. I feel like I'm starting to lose it. It's SO GOOD 😭😭😭 please tell me some of y'all are willing to gush with me here
14 of Gaga’s songs have been used across multiple seasons, including 3 times in the Lip Sync for the crown (The Edge of Glory in season 11; Stupid Love in All Stars 6; Abracadabra in season 17).
The latest song used for a lipsync was Zombieboy in episode 3 of All Stars 11.

Unfortunately I don't have any way to play it except my car. Fortunately (not really) I go back to my 80 mile round trip commute to work June 1. DWYW isn't the same with CA, hence this purchase. Sigh. Great decisions weren't her thing back in the Artpop writing days, because it should've just been her and her alone. And I'll never understand allowing/paying someone to throw up on you, either.
