Original pressings of art pop, and the value.

I first wanna say that this is the album that made me a die hard Lady Gaga fan once and for all. Of all albums through the history of billboard, this is my 4th favorite album of all time.

I have a factory sealed, original, pressing of art pop on CD with the barcode and everything. As soon as I heard a friend copy in the car, I went to the store and bought three of the records and two of the CDs, leaving one CD sealed and opened all 3 LPs like a fool. I kept my sealed CD and sealed in the closet all these years. I see a mint copy floating around for $50, my sealed CD doesn’t even have cracks in the case. I have played my open CD and one of my same pressings for years.

Now the big topic I wanna open up is the desecration of the mastering and tracklist that we had on the original 2014 vinyl. I have put the original vinyl record to high-quality chrome cassettes when I don’t feel like playing from the record. I acquired a USA 2019… I know it’s the same digital mastering but because they had to create new stampers something changed along the way and yes, it sounds very good but it’s just not the same. I put the 2019 pressing onto Cassette using the same new (10 hours broken in) record stylus and recorded the 2014 to another sealed Cassette to do comparisons.

I’m sorry I can’t play this 2019 pressing. Another elephant in the room, removing “do what you want”. I don’t focus outside drama when enjoying a piece of art recorded in our history. I’m a rape victim that was held at gunpoint as a child. It happened to me several times by the same guy and I was traumatized. I understand why people felt the need to chastise R. Kelly. But it was one of the best songs on the album and it was THE song that made me go to the store and buy all those copies. It is the very song that made me a Lady Gaga fan. It was fun and naughty and has a really cool sound. The Christina version is just not the same for me and it’s irritating.

I tried the EU 2019 pressing on 180 g, and while it doesn’t have the inner groove distortion that’s on the US pressing from 2019, the details aren’t punchy and “in my face. ”

Had they used the same track list they just could’ve used the same stampers and we would have new pressings for everyone with the original sound mastering and quality.

And also, I don’t understand why people are hating on the original song. It’s OK to hate the person. To play devils advocate to people, I want you to think about how more than half the country voted for a president that represents everything that’s wrong with a predator and an awful person. i’m not talking about Einstein. I’m talking about him being found guilty for raping Jean Carroll before the election. There are people who knew very well who he was and still chose for him to be our commander in chief. There are people who claim they love Trump, especially women who don’t care that this man raped a woman in a department store. When it comes to rape, you listen to the victim. Let every voice be heard. But because he was raped by the person you happen to like, you turn the other way despite the fact that a woman suffered because of that man. She has to live with the rape trauma.

So let me enjoy do what you want with R. Kelly. I’m sick and tired of hypocrisy in our society. Many of you claim that you like our president’s policies. Well, maybe I like certain things about this song with R Kelly. The reason I made this argument was people chastising anybody who likes this song.

Thanks for listening to an autistic person.

What is Lady Gaga's most timeless song and most dated song?

From the top of my head I would say Bad Romance which I know is probably an overrated answer but the fact that a song that came out 16 years ago but still gives us chills only from listening the opening note really says a lot. At a time where electropop was the thing everyone was doing, this operatic sounding song came along and could not have been done by anyone else but Gaga and still be listened to over again to this day.

For dated song I would go with Starstruck. I know some of you love it and it holds a special place in my heart but even I have to admit that the production, melody and feature makes it sound very of its time, it definitely doesn't mean it's a bad song but sometimes I feel like her record label wanted her to have this specific song.

Folie A Deux was so heartbreaking

I've only watched the first half but I just found it so far to be so heartbreaking....a little intriguing. I once went to lock up for a crime I never committed but the blame was pinned on me at first because of my brother. It just felt real, and dreamlike. Like even though theyre bad people and the movie is a little dry its so....intruging and I want to root for both of them because they just instantly love each other. Their love is seriously messed up. But they are beautiful. The old songs make it feel like a dream where its not about comedy, camp, but emotional realism. I love the direction the movie took and how real gaga feels. It doesn't feel just like its her, but it also doesn't feel like shes dressed in a costume and you can't see the real her.

She gave a great performance. Not a lot of scenes to chew through but she felt magnetic while not having a lot of scenes. I wanted to cry how real they felt with their love. Time to finish it!

Strange pressing of The Fame

Just bought The Fame on vinyl, great album, wanted to add to my discogs collectipn, but none of the variants have the same identification, would be happy to get some help.

This copy has a sticker "Made in Czech Republic".

Color of label ring is greenish, text on label ring is longer than on the other versions.

Identification:

Barcode: 602517854772

Matrix / Runout: (will write down all information from records)

(Side A): B001180501-A 02436754 193783E1 2418037 00602517854772-A-Tummy ... (last part is etched, hard to read, maybe Tammy or smth)

(Side B): B001180501-B 02436585 193783E2 2423354 00662517854772-B-Tummy ...

...

Is it possible this is some strange version that isn't listed on discogs or is just a version of one press, that I just haven't identificated properly?

Thanks!

Can't you help me understand all the references in this Gaga Iceberg 🧊 ?

Hello 🤗

I've been a casual Little Monster for some years, but never dug really deep into the 'Gaga Lore'

I know some of those, but the more obscure ones I got me really curious and confused ( and a bit scared 😭)

Can you explain to me? I would love to know more about Mother 🩷

Found this picture on Pinterest btw, I don't know who made it

So What Songs Are Her Worst?

Okay so after seeing the majority think Christmas Tree is one of her best on that poll, I have to ask what is a song you instantly skip/ dislike lol?

Yeah it’s a little negative but come on everyone has that one song they dislike. For me without a doubt Plastic Doll.

I couldn’t download/ stream Chromatica for nearly a whole day, so read some reviews by fans of each track and one I read said Plastic Doll was a moving, deeply emotional track about her feelings and said it made them cry.

Then I heard it and got well that! The only way it’d make anyone cry was from how bad it was tbh. It comes right after 911 too, what a drop in quality. So yeah, come on what’s a song you’d happily never listen to again?

Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga…

I am a MASSIVE Michael Jackson fan, and I’m just about as big a fan of Lady Gaga too. Gaga is preserving many of his clothes and her and Jacksons teams were planning to have her open and participate in his This Is It show. When you watch her shows you can see soooo much of his influence, but also she is so uniquely and authentically her own. Jackson often expressed admiration for her and said she was the next big thing. I really and truly think that a kinship between these two would have been incredible, and that they would have become great friends. This could be a dramatic and perhaps far fetched idealization of them both, but I truly feel like if they joined forces, theres a good chance the impact they have and had on the world would have been ten fold what it was individually.

When I think about the fact we will never get to see these two share a stage, duet, or even just feature on the same track it makes me sick. I would have loved to see what they could create together.

What do you think a This Is It show featuring Lady Gaga would have been like? What sort of collaborations do you think we would have seen?

u/mushlovescience — 1 day ago

just realized how long act 4 was?!

the show (mayhem ball) was around 2 hours and 15 minutes, and act 4 (every chessboard has two queens) was literally an hour?? it's like half the show lmao (BTW THIS IS NOT ME COMPLAINING ITS JUST SOMETHING I REALIZED❗️❗️)
