Confirmed: The truth about the future of MAFS UK after false claims the show has been ‘axed’

I went to the link earlier and saw the 'article' was was \"axed\" - loving the irony.

Yesterday, it was falsely claimed that MAFS UK had been axed

Yesterday, The Sun reported that the next series of MAFS UK had been “axed” amid the allegations and review. The article claimed the series was set to air in September, but “Married at First Sight UK bosses have sensationally axed the show’s next series.”

It went on to say filming had completely wrapped, but just weeks later, the show was “canned”.

Channel 4 has confirmed the future of the show

Channel 4 has since told The Tab these claims aren’t true. In fact, no decision has been made about series six of the show, and a decision will not be made until the review into the show has been completed. For now, the show has been filmed, and that’s all.

A MAFS spokesperson told The Tab: “No decision has been made on the broadcast of MAFS UK series six. We have just announced an external review into contributor welfare on MAFS UK and we need to see what that finds before deciding what happens next.”

Dave on Perfect Match

Okay I don’t know if anyone here has watched the new season of Perfect Match.. but Dave is on it and I am absolutely appalled by his behaviour. I really loved him and Jamie on MAFS until he had a complete personality change and left Jamie in the dust. He really broke the nice image I had of him being an emotionally mature and caring partner.. but now that I see his behaviour on Perfect Match it really reinforces my inclining that he was faking shit with Jamie the whole time!!!! Not only that but I feel like he’s crossing the line of being kind of creepy being 37 making out with 24 year olds … there’s a fine line there and the way he’s enjoying it way to much is so off putting!!

New Viewer Season Recommendations?

Hey everyone,

Just heard about this show and have been seeing that people really like Australia’s version.

Curious if y’all can recommend me specific seasons to watch?

For me personally, I tend to prefer wholesomeness over drama. Of course any dating show will have drama but if there certain seasons that have some solid couples and aren’t just straight up drama that would be what I’d be looking for.

Thanks in advance!

Should MAFS call it a day?

I never thought I’d be saying this, but… is it time for MAFS to just call it a day?

I’m only up to the second dinner party, and I’m already kind of over it. It just feels really toxic this season. I get that drama is part of the show, but this doesn’t even feel entertaining — it’s more just uncomfortable to watch.

What I used to like about MAFS was that, even with all the chaos, there were moments where you could see genuine effort or actual feelings. Now it just feels a bit forced and negative.

Also, it really doesn’t feel the same knowing Mel is not with us anymore. She brought some balance and actually called things out in a way that made sense.

Maybe I’m judging it too early, and it gets better, but right now it’s not looking great. Anyone else feeling like this, or just me?

I honestly think the MAFS UK sexual assault allegations could permanently change reality TV in both the UK and Australia.

Not even just because of the allegations themselves, which are obviously incredibly serious - but because they’re forcing people to question whether shows like MAFS are fundamentally unsafe by design.

For years, viewers have joked that MAFS stopped being a “social experiment” and became psychological warfare with wine glasses. But now the conversation feels very different.

The allegations coming out around MAFS UK aren’t just tabloid drama or contestants complaining about bad edits. We’re talking about accusations of sexual assault and serious failures around participant welfare during production. That moves the conversation into an entirely different category.

And the timing is terrible for the franchise because audiences were already becoming uneasy with how exploitative the format had become.

Bec’s a Twat!

Seriously why lie about purchasing a dress above getting it for free for promotions? It’s a win win on the latter and both parties win, why lie? Why pretend you purchased the awesome designs when you didn’t? It’s so embarrassing which has pretty much been Bec’s behaviour from the get go from day dot.

Bec lying about buying her outfits is such a pitiful move… as if she’s better than the other wives. What a tosser! She got the dresses for free for the designer to get free promotion and rightfully so! The designer deserved the attention. Bec… did not.

The Bec drama

I’m sorry did Bec unalive someone? Because the way some of y’all are acting on social media platforms it’s like she did!
So she didn’t tag a dress big deal!! Most won’t remember this business in a week or give it a few months when Bec isn’t as infamous/notorious and see if you remember this tag lol it’s not that deep. Didn’t Bec tag her on her burner account anyway? I’m sure Bec has been sidetracked with other stuff (like all the hate she’s getting) that this was the furthest thing from her mind. And I get it, being in her position I’d forget too.
I think the owner handled it poorly. She wanted 5 minutes of fame for her business. She could have reached out to Bec privately, reminding her of their arrangement and Bec probably would have rectified it immediately. Even if she did reach out, she could have made it clear she would take it further by posting on social media. That business owner is taking this for all it’s worth and continuing to drag Bec on other platforms. The fact she has aligned herself with Gia, tells me all I need to know
Also Gia is a hypocritical beetch she just couldn’t wait to grab this with both hands acting like she’s a saint, she couldn’t give a flying fluff about the business.
Those celebrating in becs misery are no better. This dress situation is so trivial, there are worse things happening than an untagged dress.
Oh btw I found a post on becs burner where she tagged the dress. The business owner, to my knowledge didn’t mention it

MAFS Australia's Julia Vogl: ‘My sexuality was weaponised consistently through the series’

The biphobia Julia received is unreal. Everyone is assuming she isn't into men because it didn't work out with one man. It's honestly quite sad.

Why was this year's cast so unhinged?

Obviously I get that producers want to pick people that will stir up drama and interest (who wants to watch happy couples, right?) but this year's cast was especially volatile and often downright unpleasant to each other, especially in comparison to last year which seemed more tame.

That's not even touching on a lot of the overt misogyny we saw this year from people like Chris, Tyson, Steven (the one with Rebecca), and Danny in the later stages. I also think the experts should have gone harder on Gia for how truly terrified Scott was of her, that doesn't happen by accident and if she was a man then people would be outraged. Same for Juliette and how she treated Joel imo. I would even say Juliette and Gia make Jessika Power look like the girl next door. Bec and Brooke too.

Is this producers just looking for the most volatile contestants they can find, or is this indicative of a worrying cultural shift?

mid-S9 thoughts (ik i'm several years too late)

preface: i've just finished episode 25, carolina and whatshisname just walked in and the rest of the cast walked out.

  1. domenica is so annoying, why is everyone up her arse? oh boo hoo you were triggered because people tell you your voice is too loud and the trauma made you smash a glass and now everyone is coddling you. like what? her voice IS loud and grating. that's a fact! why does everyone excuse her..

  2. carolina "cheating" on dion....... this was sooo over the top dramatic. she didn't deserve to be harangued like that over a guy she knew less than 2 weeks and told from day 1 she wasn't attracted to. my girl got scapegoated!

(ps. i'm from the uk and don't know anything about any of these people apart from what i see on the show and what i've skimmed on this subreddit)

The token sanes

I have nothing to really add I just finished my rewatch of season 13 (yes! I liked it so much I needed a rewatch to fully appreciate the delicious mess it was! ) and now that I'm watching S10 of the UK version gotta say I really appreciate that the mfas format for apparently all the versions is take a bunch of mentally unstable people and throw in approximately one (maybe two if we are unlucky) couple that is relatively normal. Hilarious. 10/10 reality TV. No notes.
