Macy’s Reno

Is it common for the sales associate to scan each item and then proceed to tell you the price of each item? I only asked to be checked out. After that I was thinking okay, well everything is rang in, time to pay. No, she then proceeded to ring everything in and give me my total. Really, Denise in Juniors you’re really just giving major bitchy vibes. You don’t need to watch my pocketbook for me.

Calling a Macy’s Store

Hello,

I went to the West Nyack, New York store. While they didn’t have the item I wanted in stock, they printed me a list of other stores that do have it.

Apparently, the only store that has the item I’m looking for is in Northridge, California. Staff in NY advised to call that store to have them ship the item I want and pay for it over the phone or something.

I tried calling the store multiple times. Every time I call I ever receive a busy signal or a message saying “the extension is invalid”. I even tried contacting “executive offices” which just had me leave a voicemail.

TLDR: is there any way to get thru to calling a Macy’s store? Any specific options I should select?

Many thanks in advance.

Training

I currently work at Macys as an At Your Service employee. I am decently new and only been here for 4 months. I have been having to train almost every person that has come in. I asked my manager a while back to not have me train because it was a lot and I could not perform my tasks well and that I was still new. I am still training even more people even though my leadership is with me some nights but does not take initiative. I am just curious if it is my job to train or is it the leaderships because I am burning out and starting to get overwhelmed.

Tldr: Work at Ays in Macys and not sure if training is a part of my job description.

Why does Insite always seem to be down lately?

Particularly the my schedule part.
Before it was down like only once a week for routine maintenance and they would let you know ahead of time. Now it seems like every other day it’s down for maintenance.

Managers ON MY BACK

Hey guys. I’ve been working at Macy’s for about 3 years now, but I recently transferred to Beauty, specifically Fragrances.
Honestly, since I started in Beauty, it’s been literally the easiest position I’ve ever had at a job. I mostly focus on selling, there’s almost zero operational stuff compared to other departments, and I’m still making really good money because of commission, honestly more than I thought I would make.
My problem now is that ALL the managers and captains in the building are constantly on everybody’s back, including vendors. It’s like they hate seeing people happy at this point ngl 😭
I love my team, and of course it’s not perfect, but we always get our job done. Our job is basically keeping testers full, cleaning the glass, keeping cases full, doing MyClient (now StellaR, which I think is the worst tool ever created to reach customers), maintaining standards, taking care of damages, selling, etc.
And sometimes we literally get all of that done in less than 2 hours. When everything is done, we’ll promote brands, work on visuals, help customers, etc.
But me and my team are all in our early 20s, and while we work, we talk to each other. Because we’re humans. We have mouths. We can speak to each other, right? 😭
It’s so annoying because leadership acts like they hate seeing people enjoy themselves or just not be miserable at work. Like, we got alllll the job doooone. Truck is done. Glass is clean. Beauty Playground is done. Everything is filled. WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT US TO DOOOOO 😭
We make good money, our numbers are good, we’re not the best with loyalty but we always try, and at this point it’s getting stressful just going to work because management is constantly watching us. And whenever they approach us, they’re either rude or talk to us like we’re children.
I genuinely like working in Fragrances, but if Beauty/Fragrances is like this at every Macy’s, I think I’m done after the holidays.
Anyone else in Beauty/Fragrances dealing with this? Is this just my store or is this a Macy’s thing? 😭

Leave policy is a joke

I’m trying to take a weekend off to take my family on a quick trip, but I’m finding it impossible to schedule and management is being impossible. They have almost every Saturday “restricted” for PTO or unavailable days and EVERY DAY for three straight months in November, December and January. I’m trying to take this trip in October but I’ve been told no cause the system won’t let me. I’m not even asking for less hours or PTO, just not to be schedule on ONE WEEKEND. I guess I can just call out on the Saturday but it’s a joke I have to. Management should work with their employees. What happened to work/life balance? The only thing they actually care about is your credit card sale balance. What a joke!

New PTO timing change!!

Hello, How many of you out there have read or been notified by your managers of the new PTO timing change? MACYS is now going to reissue our PTO in July 2027 instead of February.. They claim that this is what the workers requested? I don’t know but, no one at my store requested this or was even asked about it because, I can guarantee we would’ve said no. It seems that the only people that this helps are the managers & upper level executives (that get way more PTO then hourly employees) & people who don’t use their PTO. Your unused PTO is supposed to roll over every year until you cap out.. So hey use your PTO!!!
I don’t understand how is issuing it five months later benefits any of the workers but the company? And if they were gonna make such a crucial change, they should’ve told us in February when we got our PTO for this year and not now in August when we just have a few months left until all of the blackout dates start and don’t end until February of next year.!!
This really chaps me.. if anyone has any further knowledge about this that they did not tell us, can you please respond thank you

Online account flagged?

Out of nowhere I can't seem to make purchases with my account. I wanted to take advantage of the Bonus Days (unfortunately the item I want isn't part of the One Day Sale 😬).

I can load my prepaid card just fine.

The strange thing is I made an in-store online order a couple weeks ago and noticed it didn't show up in my account.

Interestingly, I can't even log onto my account in the app, just my computer. Perhaps it's because I have an obnoxiously long password? Or because I use SimpleLogin to protect my identity after having been the victim of major identity theft?

I called this morning asking about the order I was trying to place last night and they just said my account was flagged and wouldn't tell me why after verifying my information.

The sick thing is I'm an employee... The fact that I need to resort to Reddit to get anywhere is ridiculous. Tech support is useless.

New PTO

Who read the email? PTO is changing, so I was confused by the email. Does that mean that we won't have any pto from February to July? Are we getting extra in July to make up for those months? Im so afraid theyre going to just give us our 10 days in July and ✌️.

Is Macy's going out of business?

From the looks of it they close stores year after year, their service in store is always sub par, and their stores are in desperate need of remodeling. When I'm in there, I hear 80s music constantly on their speakers. Are they doing ok?

Removing prices on fulfillment shipping orders

I always wondered why we removed prices. Surely the customer knows what they paid for something. It is not a gift receipt. So why? Then I realized. It's not to hide the price the customer paid. It's to hide the fact that the customer is paying $29.99 for a shirt my store had on last act for $9.99. Pretty scummy if you ask me.

My face gets so hot and blushes in this store! How to prevent? Future employee

I’m gonna be working here and I’m so happy I got this barista job at Macy’s but oh my goodness my face gets so hot and my cheeks blush every time I come in here. It’s smells strong of fragrance so I think that is the issue. But do you guys know anything I can do to maybe prevent the allergic reaction lol! There’s no way to walk into the Starbucks without cutting through the entire store since it’s in the back.

Credit card sales

I was wondering, do captains have sales goals or is it just retail sales associates? I ask because my captain keeps pushing me to sell credit cards, but she doesn’t seem to be under any pressure to sell cards.

Probably the worst customer interaction I’ve ever had

At work today, a customer was yelling in my face because the $200 suit was ringing up at $254. I was trying to explain to him that I added the pants his son was getting, and I asked if he wanted me to remove the extra pair of pants. He wouldn’t let me speak, and he and his son were yelling at me. I tried my hardest to explain to them as calmly and politely as I could.

They kept yelling and wouldn’t let me speak. Then the father stormed over to the rack, ripped the sale sign off the holder, and kept yelling, so I took it out of his hand and explained it to him. Yeah, I’m frustrated and extremely bothered because I was pushed to my limit. Then he wanted a manager, so I asked my coworker who works in fulfillment to call someone because my theatro was dead. They kept yelling at me, so I walked away and said, "I’m done. Have a good day." I’m by myself; I can’t call anyone; I haven’t eaten, and I have two grown men yelling in my face. Leadership wasn’t present on the second floor.

Every other interaction with customers was great. I can be patient and hold my tongue, which I did, but I had no way out in that situation. Afterward, I was sent home with full pay for the day. To rest and relax. You know I’ve been working there for three years. It’s been okay while I’ve been in college, and I have never had an interaction as wild as that one. The weirdest thing about it is we had just opened a credit. He went from zero to one hundred over not even a miscommunication; he wouldn’t even let me communicate.

I guess a general question for everyone here is what’s the wildest customer interaction you’ve had?

Racist captain

This horrible captain does this thing that drives me crazy. It will be 15 minutes before closing, and she will tell me to clean up last act or the shoes in backstage or something in the last few minutes before closing. At that point, I’ve been standing for eight hours, my feet are killing me and I’m literally ready to collapse. She never does this with associates who are of the same race as herself, but with me, she loves to give the last-minute work. Who does that? It is the end of the day, everybody is exhausted, but she never ever gives her “ friends” the last-minute work, it’s always me.
Should I point that out to her?
