I reached my breaking point and I no longer want them

I got the Meta Gen 1s a month after they came out, and they were fantastic. I was already big on wearing sunglasses with a particular gusto for Ray-Bans and with these, I had all that plus the ability to record POV video, listen to music, and take calls. I got the gen 2 aswell as soon as they launched.

But right now, I don't feel as excited. There's an increasing stigma around them, and it seems like a few bad actors have ruined the fun for everyone. Now that people recognize them, I get all sorts of weird looks, and I can't help thinking people act differently around me because they assume I might be recording them. I've had some less-than-positive comments at work, too: one coworker shared a story about a yard duty worker at his son's school who wore them until people made a big deal out of it and she was banned. Last weekend, I wore them to a festival, but I couldn't help feeling self-conscious most of the time. The main reason I brought them was to record the bands without staring at my phone screen, but the results were disappointing anyway: the footage had a slight fisheye effect, and the audio quality wasn't great.

It doesn't help that Meta as a company has a bad reputation for past privacy breaches. Seeing news about these glasses getting banned left and right makes them feel like they're just not worth it for me anymore.

I've browsed this sub and seen people saying they don't care what others think, which is fine, but let's not pretend we don't live in a society. As for me, I guess I'll try to find a few last practical uses for them while they make their way straight to Marketplace. :(

So long, it was fun while it lasted I guess.

To all people that still find them useful> Kudos! I still remember the good times I got and I hope you could be having fun with them too.

P.S. English is not my native language, I used gemini to preserve structure.

I really want meta glasses!

I would love to get the meta ai glasses, I think they’re a great idea, but I have a small face. All of the designs seem very dark and bulky (I know that’s probably for a reason). I wear blue light glasses being on my computer all day for work and they’re very light I forget I even have them on.

Have any women or people with petite faces been able to find a style that works?! Lmk!!

meta kylie glasses sucks!

i got it for a DAY only, and the case already failed on me.

i did everything right, tried force restart, rebooted multiple times, different USB C cables, but the case wont light up and the glasses cant charge.

contacted meta support and they said they cant help me cos im outside US, and warranty only applies to US. for context, i live in singapore and paid an extra $100+ to ship it here, only to receive a broken product….

i am very disappointed considering i paid over $600 and the glasses dont even work…. sigh

Meta's Glasses are recording videos of anyone, anywhere, without consent, & people don't even know. It should be ban till any solution is found for it. What is your opinion?

Meta Adventurers just quit...

First no answers to voice prompt then the buttons quit working. Less than a month old. I was hoping I'd get lucky and avoid any issues... charging them to full power now and see if that does anything. They were at 82% when they quit responding.

GitHub - rayl15/OpenVision: Open-source iOS app connecting Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses to AI — 5 backends (on-device MLX models, Apple Intelligence, OpenAI, Gemini Live, OpenClaw), on-device neural voice, face recognition & live web search. Private and offline-capable.

Anyone know a step by step guide or has anyone tried this?

Can I change the glass myself?

I have ordered Gen 1 sunglasses. However, I feel like I can use it more if I have transition glasses in it, but I don't want to pay extra. Can I just get the glasses changed myself at a local shop with my own prescription?

Which Meta glass should I buy?

Hey there,
I’ve been thinking about buying meta glasses for sometime now, primarily for when I’m driving instead of a dash cam, and I don’t really know which model/type I should pick.
I tried taking the test on Meta’s website, but didn’t really find that very helpful)

My eyesight is fine so I don’t need lenses for that, so either just some lenses that are primarily made as a sunglass or has the darkening effect.

And finally is it stupid buying the glasses now, with all the fuss about banning them

Explain Meta Glasses to me like I'm 5

I'm a life long glasses wearer and although I'm not a big tech guy, the meta glasses seem kinda interesting. I had a few questions about them, specifically prescription models.

1: How obvious are they? I've seen the creep stigma about them but in a day to day setting, how obvious are they that they have a camera? (Not asking about how obvious they are when recording, I know they have a light, just don't want to be yelled at while I'm at Walmart or something).

2: I've seen that the sound quality is good for the built in speakers, but how loud is it for other people? Like would I be an ass if I used them to listen to music on the plane?

3: Can they connect to my phone like Bluetooth headphones or are they more integrated than that? Like i just want sound, not connected to 30 apps.

4: Simplify how the AI works. I know they can translate and answer questions, and do maps. Does it just tell you or does it show something on your lens?

4.5: How does the translation thing work? Do you have to activate it before hand or does it just pick up a different language and go to work?

5: I see that the battery life is like 8 hours. Is that 8 hours of standby or listening to music constantly?

6: How durable are they? Obviously not gonna head butt someone while wearing them, but will they shatter if you knock them off your end table mess up if you have to run through the rain?

My Oakley glasses got fried

So I have the Oakley recording glasses, the clear ones with transitional lenses and a couple of days ago. I was in a little trip and they fell into water. I talked about it in my previous post here and after 2 1/2 days of putting them in rice, I tried turning them on and they don’t turn on and they do have batteries because when they fell, they had around 70% battery and I immediately turned them off. I know I shouldn’t have put them in rice, but I did not know at that time when I put it in rice.

My Oakley glasses accidentally fell into water. Are they salvageable?

So I was washing my feet in this little lake water place that I have in my grandparents farm place and I had thr glasses hanging from my collar shirt and they fell and fully submerged.

Impossible to remove meta glasses tag/product link from my Instagram stories!!

Has anyone found a way of remove the “meta raybans” tag that appears top left if you post a video made with the glasses?!

I’ve tried everything:

  1. Screen recording the original video and posting the screen recording. Tag still there.
  2. Editing in CapCut. Tag still there.
  3. Removing metadata from the video. Tag still there.
  4. With a second phone - actually filming the original video on the 1st phone, then posting the 2nd phone film of the original 1st phone video. Tag still there!! I have no idea how Instagram knows?!

😵‍💫

  1. Unpairing the glasses and setting up a burner meta account (separate from my Instagram linked meta acct) to upload videos to phone. Tag still there.
  2. I had some success adjusting the speed of the film in cap cut, but the speed adjustment has to be fairly significant or … you guessed it …. Tag still there.

Meta REALLY want meta glasses content tagged. What a sh\*tty way to treat your customers - as a free billboard for your product.

I do not want to be doing product placement for meta ray bans, every time I post to my stories, especially with the growing stigma associated with these glasses. I’m at the point where if I can’t find a workaround I will try and return these.

Any suggestions most welcome.

So I added few augmentations to my meta glasses, whatcha think? 👓

A charging cable that charges metas by taking power from my phone by USB-C, anti slip temples pads and sound boosters that makes sound more louder from the speaker and it directly goes into your ear. Everything here works surprisingly well

Ordered Meta Fury Glasses on July 24th — Delivery silently pushed from Aug 11 to Aug 24 with zero notification. Have an event and Meta Support is completely useless. What do I do?

Hey everyone, long-time lurker here but this situation is genuinely frustrating me enough to post. I need some help or at least to know if anyone else has gone through something similar.

Here's the full story:

On July 24th, I ordered a pair of Meta Fury Glasses with prescription lenses. During the checkout process, Meta clearly showed me an estimated delivery date of August 11th. That's a roughly 2.5-week window, which seemed reasonable for a prescription lens order, so I went ahead and completed the purchase without any hesitation.

Now here's where things get really annoying. After placing the order, I received the standard order confirmation email, fine, totally normal. But after that? Complete radio silence. No shipping confirmation. No processing update. No "your lenses are being made" email. Nothing. Not a single follow-up communication from Meta's side.

I wasn't panicking because August 11th hadn't passed yet, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. But today — out of sheer curiosity — I decided to log into my account and check the order status myself. And that's when I found the gut punch: they had quietly changed my estimated delivery date from August 11th to August 24th.

13-day delay — with absolutely no email, no push notification, no text message, nothing. I only found out because I went digging myself. If I hadn't checked, I would have been sitting there on August 11th wondering where my glasses were.

Why does this matter so much to me right now?

I specifically timed this order because I have an event coming up that I was planning to attend wearing these glasses. The original August 11th date gave me a comfortable window before the event. The new August 24th date completely blows that up. Had I known at the time of ordering that the actual delivery would be late August, I either would have planned differently or reconsidered the order altogether. The original estimated date was a key part of my decision to buy.

What happened when I reached out to Meta Support?

I went to their support page hoping to get some clarity — maybe a real explanation for the delay, maybe a way to expedite, or at least a proper acknowledgment that they dropped the ball on communication. Instead, I was greeted by their AI assistant chatbot, which was honestly one of the most frustrating support experiences I've had in a while. It had absolutely no clue what was going on with my specific order. I tried rephrasing my issue multiple times, gave it my order details, explained the situation clearly — and it kept spinning its wheels or giving me generic responses that had nothing to do with what I was actually asking. After several attempts I gave up.

I couldn't easily find a path to reach an actual human agent, and the bot was going in circles. It felt like the support system is designed to exhaust you into giving up rather than actually solve your problem.

What I'm looking for:

Has anyone else experienced a silent delivery date change like this on a prescription lens order? Is this common with Meta Glasses? And more importantly — how do I actually get a human at Meta support to talk to me? Is there a direct number, a chat escalation path, or a better contact method I'm not seeing? Any tips on getting this resolved quickly, especially given the event timing, would be massively appreciated.

I love the concept of these glasses and was genuinely excited for the order, which is what makes this whole experience so disappointing. Just communicate with your customers, Meta. That's all I'm asking.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has gone through this or has advice. Really hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. 🙏
