It makes total sense that the glasses don’t have built-in GPS, but my Gen 2s are a bit hit-or-miss with location tags. At first I blamed cellular coverage, but I can take two photos in the same spot—one gets tagged and the other doesn’t. I’m just looking for a smooth workaround.  

I mostly use the Gen 2s while traveling. Lately I’ve been using an app called ARC Timeline to log my location on iOS, then exporting the Meta photos, matching them up, and adding tags from ARC’s GPX file.  

Before I dive into coding, does anyone have other ideas?  

My main goal is full automation since I usually travel with an iPhone and maybe an iPad. I’ve got a Mac mini running 24/7 that can handle scripts, but I still need to figure out how to send everything back into Apple Photos afterward.

Thoughts or ideas?

A few thoughts…

I am torn between Clubmaster and Burbank. I wear Clubmaster Classics today, and they feel ever so slightly small for my face, so I will need to consider that. I am disappointed they do not offer the Shiny Black Clubmaster Classic with transition lenses. I enjoy transition lenses, but perhaps third-party options are better. Should I choose those and wait for third-party lenses? Are they identical to the current Clubmaster? The Burbank provides clear to Amethyst, which looked impressive.

• Is recording available on day one or “coming later”?  
• Any insight on Muse’s release?

 

Finally, I also have Gen 2. I reviewed it and watched some event clips. Is there an ETA for Muse on Gen 2, or will it require Gen 3?

I know Muse is a little "controversial" at the moment, but the reality is they likely aren't going anywhere.

Any thoughts om adding a connection?

I started using POKE last November, thought it was the best ever. Well, here we are and it's fallen off a cliff. Terrible reliability, terrible support and the discord is full of nonsense.

Has anyone found an alternative? ideally iMessage or WhatsApp? Really would prefer to not install an app.

My use case is travel tracking, package tracking, meeting reminders, birthday reminders, stock market alerts. Not huge on needing MCP.

I used to get a daily message with 3 location weather, in C and F.. poke would get it right about 20% of the time, others it would forget the formatting or send it in 20+ individual bubbles, same for the stock market.

Currently using CharGPT for those two, scheduling isn't the most fluid there.

I’ve been building a custom Weather Report in Apple Shortcuts that generates a visual dashboard in Quick Look instead of opening Safari. It gives me a quick snapshot of my current location plus two comparison locations in England and southern France.

Each weather card includes:

• 🇺🇸/🇬🇧/🇫🇷 Flag and city
• Current conditions
• Current temperature in °F and °C
• Today’s high and low
• Tomorrow’s forecast
• Local time and time zone
• Time offset from my current location
• ☀️/🌙 day or night indicator
• 🟢🟡🔴 weather quality indicator (good, marginal, or poor conditions)

The top card already follows my current GPS location automatically. I’m now working on the next feature, which will intelligently reorder the comparison cards based on where I am. For example, when I’m in England, California will automatically become a comparison card instead of appearing twice. That logic is still a work in progress. (Would love any suggestions this piece)

I also spent far more time than expected polishing the details: rounding API temperatures to whole numbers, formatting time zones as BST and CEST instead of generic GMT offsets, handling daylight saving time correctly, and making everything readable on an iPhone with a clean glass-inspired interface.

The entire workflow is:

Fetch weather → Format data → Build HTML dashboard → Display in Quick Look

It’s been a fun reminder that Apple Shortcuts can build interfaces that feel surprisingly close to a native app when you treat the output as a UI instead of just formatted text. 🌦️📱

Hello all..

Moving overseas.. buying a very traditional home, over 200 years old. With that said, I will need t doorbell camera, but I would rather not have the high tech eyesore.

I've seen covers for Ring and Aqara. Are there any "pre made" or am I buying a blank shell and having a faux finish applied? TBH, aestheticallly, the matte finish may work as is?

Any help, feedback or pointers would be greatly appreciated

But... I can take one Pic with the glasses (RB M2) and the location data will be there, picture taken 5 minute later, no location data. Same phone, same app, same processes, just 5 minutes apart, excellent cell coverage as well. Just no data. (Mac or iPhone)

Any ideas?

Pretty short list...

• Dark mode setting in app, override system,. I think Tripsy looks great with a black background... though, others may think light...
• Friends trips available via MCP. (building out a personal dashboard)
• Travel doc needs by location ->UK = ETA, EU = ETIAS (later this yr)
• Passport Expiration tracking, just date don't need to store #
• Location/Time based Reminder - Display Parking QR code. I frequent LA Hilton, they require QR but have no app)
• Live Activities (may handle the previous item)

I was able to request and receive a JSON export from TripIt. Opened it and copied/pasted the contents into the Tineo web import area no go, error

I see my wife's name there? Must she be a Flighty user to have that linked?

Would be real nice to track, by name, without them being an app user.

Edit" Just found the attached. Apparently they must use Flighty.. FFS... not making this a "trip planning app" but at least allow us to name them here. My 86yr old mother isn't going to use Flighty.

So basically, my wife's flights will be there, and I need to deduce that the others are whoever else may be traveling at that moment.

I came across a pair of Maui Jims I had in a drawer... turns out they work GREAT with FaceID!

Now I'm wanting to replace my wayfarers with a pair of the KĀPI, but I see they are polarized only? I see they use what they call "PolarizedPlus2" does that matter? Does FaceID work with PolarizedPlus?

I really want Tripsy to work. So much so that I bought an annual subscription a week ago because I genuinely thought it was going to replace TripIt for me.

After spending more time with it, though, I’ve run into a few limitations that have been frustrating.

The biggest one is conflict resolution. TripIt has handled itinerary changes really well for years. With Tripsy (and Tineo), the answer seems to be, “Delete the old reservation and forward the new one.” That works, but it feels like a step backward.

I tried giving one trip a completely fresh start. I deleted it, forwarded a confirmation email, and expected a new trip to be created. Nothing. So I manually created the trip outline and forwarded the email again. Still nothing. I then dragged the email into the trip hoping it would generate an itinerary item. It just became an attached email.

Since I’ve kept TripIt current, I figured I’d wipe Tripsy clean and let it import everything from TripIt. I deleted all my trips, connected TripIt, and… nothing. Tried again on iOS with the same result.

The strange part is that earlier that day I received an iOS notification saying, “TripIt information imported: 1 activity.” I have a shared trip, so apparently something was imported. What was it? No clue.

Attachments are a weak spot for Tripsy today. Tineo absolutely nails this. Forward in a reservation with a QR code and it gets attached directly to the corresponding itinerary item. That’s exactly where I need it when I’m standing at the airport or parking garage. It’s a small feature, but it makes a big difference, and I’d love to see Tripsy close that gap.

I also took another look at TripIt on the Mac. It prompted me to upgrade, downloaded what turned out to be a second application, and the replacement feels more like a half-baked iPad app running on macOS than a native Mac app. It’s a good reminder that while TripIt still gets the basics right, it also feels like a product that’s no longer getting the attention it once did.

Support has also been a mixed experience.

Tineo has been excellent. I’ve opened several cases, they’ve followed up, and I always feel like someone is engaged.

Tripsy’s support has been polite, but many of the responses leave me feeling like I’m being pointed toward the FAQ or told that’s simply how it works. It doesn’t always feel like the underlying issue is being acknowledged.

Community engagement has been similar. TripIt’s subreddit is basically dormant these days. Tineo’s team is very active and engaged, although today they took a pretty big hit when I couldn’t access my account for a while. Tripsy’s developers do pop into discussions from time to time, but I’d love to see more interaction with the community.

In a few weeks I’ll be traveling for about seven straight weeks, including several back-to-back trips. At that point I need my travel app to be dependable. Reliability matters more than shiny features.

TripIt is definitely showing its age, and I don’t think its future is particularly bright. It doesn’t have MCP integration, POKE workflows, or many of the newer ideas that excite me. But after using it for roughly 15 years and more than 100 trips, it has earned a lot of trust.

I’m genuinely rooting for one of the newer apps to become the clear successor. I honestly thought Tripsy was going to be it. I’m not giving up yet, but I think I’m going to pause for a bit and revisit it after it’s had some more time to mature.

A small shoutout to Tripwaffle as well. It’s surprisingly capable already, and with a handful of additional features it could become a serious contender. Get those attachments sorted, MCP isn't a huge priority, co, at first, but elegant itineraries is what I am after.

I’m rooting for you, Tripsy.

One final thought. Before claiming to be a complete TripIt replacement, make sure you can truly replace TripIt. For me, conflict resolution is the biggest missing piece, and TripIt was solving that problem five years ago.

For now, I’ve already paid for Tripsy, renewed TripIt earlier this year, and Tineo has generously given me a couple of months of Ultra. I’ll keep using all three because I genuinely hope one of them becomes the obvious choice. Right now, I’m still looking for that winner.

Travel docs with templates for Passports, UK ETA's, EU EES...

Have expiration dates, reminders to renew, trips to countries that have special doc requirements should auto flag if these docs are missing on a trip that requires them,

Same for expiration dates..

Have a business trip to Austin coming up.. would love to book an appointment at Trafford.

Really love so many of their watches, would love to pick one up. Any chance there is anything available there?
