I don't know if this has already been posted, but I read this article (maybe it is old, too, and just reappeared for some reason) and wanted to link it here because honestly, I think we can all agree, David Jones was one of the nicest people ever. I met him years ago, and the story Marx tells rings absolutely true. And I remember reading in Davy's book - can't remember the tale exactly right now, but - about him going all out for a fan, I think he went the extra mile of inconvenience for him or her. You would think some of a story like that was made up, but I know it isn't. His generosity was unique. I'm sure there were times where something was happening that prevented him from being his usual self, but not only was that probably rare, one would have to remember it was simply life giving him no choice.
I love all of The Monkees, but I do have to say, the other three could not compete with his demeanor. Absolutely their right to be what they're going to be, as a certain song lyric teaches us, and not only do I not hold it against them, I respect it and encourage it...sure, when I met Micky Dolenz, wasn't exactly what one might want, but I will never not like the guy.
But Davy...he was something else entirely.

Funny thought I'd share. Happy Tuesday everyone!
My wife, my 12 year old son and I watch two episodes of The Monkees every Monday and today we finished season 1.
During the concert scene Mickey does the old James Brown cape routine so I got to explain that to my son and now he’s listening to James Brown in his room. Very fun.
'Fess up...you know you have some.
For me, it was:
I never cry, yet I'm all alone (I'll Spend My Life With You)
You once thought of me,
As a white knight honestly. (Daydream Believer)
And if you can only make it,
From your hands to your boobies,
I know you can make it to your feet! (D.W. Washburn)
On that last one, I distinctly remember being 9y/o and asking permission to sing that line BWAAAHAHAHA!
I'm sure I have others but those are the ones off the top of my head.
Your turn!
Davy Jones December 30, 1970 on Make Room for Granddaddy in the episode titled "The Teen Idol" (Season 1, Episode 13) He sings the song written by Charlie Smalls titled Opening Night .
Micky put on an incredible show here in Austin! The setlist for this tour is truly wonderful, and pairs so well with his hilarious storytelling. Was truly a dream come true to see a monkee in the flesh!
Curious if anyone has tried following Mike’s recipe for home-brewed beer as printed in the liner notes of Tantamount to Treason!
For home-brewers… is this recipe complete nonsense or is it actually viable?
Photo for reference…
Sorry, I was up in the balcony and this was the only picture I took because I was thoroughly enjoying the show and not thinking about taking pictures.
As always, Micky puts on a good show. Got to hear a couple of songs I don't remember him or any variation of the band I've seen do before.
I've been to about 10 Monkee concerts in my life; all different variations of the band but never all 4 together. This was the second Micky solo show I've been to.
Anyways, great show and if you get the opportunity, you should go see him. His band is a fantastic group of pros.

A bunch of smart guys in the know with PhDs in Music Video Theory (bet those degrees were a breeze to get) widely recognize and roundly crown our boy Nez as Godfather/Inventor of the medium. so, I think we can all agree with this little viddie for Nez’a best ditty, T’Down calls dibs on bringing it all home for this Full Circle moment. And hey? You all get to say you had front row seats. And hey again? You’re welcome.
