Monkees Soda

I was at a store the other day and the guy who worked there said he liked my tattoo (Monkees logo on my forearm. It looks like an embroidered patch). I was surprised because said guy looked REALLY young. Turned out he was only 21 but his dad was a big Monkees fan so he learned from osmosis (sort of how I learned to love Tom Jones, Harry Belafonte and Herb Alpert, back in the day - because my parents liked them LOL).

Anyway, the kid (I'm 60...he was a kid) said he worked at our local Rocket Fizz and they sold a Monkees soda.

Of course, I HAD to go and buy it the next day LOL!

I looked it up here and conversation from 3 years ago suggested the banana nut flavored Monkees soda is awful, so I got it just to "have it." ;-)

But I figured if anyone would appreciate it, it's y'all.

And yes, that really is our knife holder. I like quirky. LOLOL

Monkees Adjacent: Modern Folk Quartet - fascinating!

I was doomscrolling Facebook earlier and, because FB knows I like the Monkees, it showed me a post about Cyrus Faryar. That got me down a rabbit hole of researching the various members of the Modern Folk Quartet.

The members of MFQ has some strong attachment to the Monkees, at least some of which most of you should recognize. The members are Faryar, Henry Diltz, Chip Douglas and Jerry Yester. They did some beautiful a cappella stuff, on and off, in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and early 00s and I highly recommend giving their music a listen (I have some, but not all of their CDs).

For those of you who were there...my memory is fuzzy, but didn't they attend the 1989 convention in L.A.?

Anyway, during my rabbit hold digging, I discovered one very cool fact - although all born between 82 and 90 years ago, all 4 members are still alive and apparently kicking - a rarity for a 60s era group.

There was also some disappointing info I learned about Yester, involving child p*rn charges in the 2010s, for which he spend a coupla years in jail.

But the fact that all 4 are still here was pleasant to hear.

Y'all know about the MFQ?

HHNDiscount for UO AP?

Hi!

I bought a VIP experience back in March but not my pass to get into HHN that night. At the time, the team member I spoke to said that AP rates for HHN would be available in July.

July is 2/3 over and I'm still not seeing AP discounts on the AP page of UO's website. Am I missing something, is it on a different page, or are AP discounts still just not available yet?

Please and TY!

Liability Insurance for LLC Choir?

Hi friends! I could use from advice.

Our choir is based in the U.S. (specifically in Florida) and just became an LLC this past March (Note: we may switch to becoming a non-profit 501(c)3 in the future, but for now we're an LLC). Our goal is to offer fun, interesting and "different" performance opportunities for our singers. For example, we were invited to sing in the guest choir of Walt Disney World's Candlelight Processional this past holiday season, and we're booked to be part of a mass choir during a performance of The Prince of Egypt at Lincoln Center in early 2027. We also hope to give back to the community by singing at local nursing homes, Orlando Airport, etc., in the future.

Of course, we want to protect ourselves, so we're currently shopping around for liability insurance. Unfortunately, we're having a heck of a time finding an insurance company that will cover us. We're either too big, too small, they don't cover choirs, we're not a non-profit, and the list goes on and on.

With that, I realize this is an oddball question, but for those of you who are running a choir that's an LLC in the U.S., would you mind sharing with us what company you use for liability insurance? I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you so much!

Disney Must Be Hurting Big Time

Most of us probably know that Disney offers Florida residents discounted tickets during the slower seasons, so they can get bodies into the parks. They're doing it again this year, but they're offering it NATIONALLY.

They wouldn't be doing this if attendance was typical for these times of years.

Excerpts from https://people.com/disney-is-bringing-back-this-popular-ticket-deal-and-not-just-for-florida-residents-this-time-12000872

  • Disney World is offering a 2-Day, 2-Park ticket deal for $199, valid at Animal Kingdom and EPCOT
  • The deal is available to all guests from August 3 to October 3
  • Disney is also offering a 4-Day, 4-Park "Magic Ticket" for $109 per day through September 26

Disney World is bringing back a popular money-saving ticket option!

The theme park announced on Tuesday, June 16, that it will once again offer a 2-Day, 2-Park ticket for late summer and fall. Starting at $199, the ticket grants admission for one day at Disney World's Animal Kingdom and one day at EPCOT.

Disney has previously offered this deal exclusively to Florida residents, but this year, it is available for everyone.

The deal is available from August 3 to October 3. Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios are not included in the offer.

The deal will be available during the annual EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, which kicks off August 27 and runs through November 21.

This summer, Disney is also offering a 4-Day, 4-Park "Magic Ticket" deal. For $109 a day, the ticket includes admission to Disney World's four theme parks: Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. The offer runs from May 26 to September 26.

Tunnel System Proposed for Universal Transportation Sounds...Iffy? Sketch?

I was perusing the internet and found this. Thought it sounded familiar and yep, it's what Elon has planned for the Universal tunnel system, if they decide to go through with it (please god, no).

I especially like the "doesn't like to follow rules; it's easier to pay fines" part.Yeah that'll be fun when they hit the water table.

Anyway, happy reading.

Trader Joe's Construction? When?

So, I live in Central Florida. Nearest TJ's is about a half hour from my house.

Last December, there was a big brough-ha-ha that TJ was looking to build another location in Central FL...this one about 5 minutes from my house. Yay! And now it's apparently been confirmed.

How long do you suspect it'll be before construction starts???

Misheard Lyrics

'Fess up...you know you have some.

For me, it was:

I never cry, yet I'm all alone (I'll Spend My Life With You)

You once thought of me,
As a white knight honestly. (Daydream Believer)

And if you can only make it,
From your hands to your boobies,
I know you can make it to your feet! (D.W. Washburn)

On that last one, I distinctly remember being 9y/o and asking permission to sing that line BWAAAHAHAHA!

I'm sure I have others but those are the ones off the top of my head.

Your turn!

Ghost Unread Chats

iMac/Desktop

For the past week or so, I've had notification that I had 5 unread chats.

I don't; I checked.

When I'm in my Chat popup and "Mark all messages as read" (even though they ARE all read), the "5" goes away for that page...but still shows up as soon as I refresh, go to another Reddit page, etc.

It's annoying. Help?

Pls & TY
