18 years old and still going strong.
I got this Dodge raider a while ago. It’s a 3 L the head gasket blow up so I rebuilt it and I’m having a terrible time getting it running right it idles a little rough but then when you step on the gas, it just falls on its face. I’m kinda at my wits end would appreciate any help.
Hello fellow Monty owners/enthusiasts! I just got a 330,000 mile Montero Limited with a ton of flaws but I want to make this my daily.
I’ve already started on a ton of cosmetic improvements and grabbed some parts from a pick-and-pull: including some map sensors, light covers, an ash tray, and a slightly better hood, both headlights, and various other tidbits. I also have a same gen 2002 (different from 2003 in many ways, I know) parts junker for other things like windows, door handles and a gas cap release. Also was able to fix the rear door handle with some trusty silicon spray and two hours of wrestling it from inside and out.
What I would love from this group are recommendations for parts supply plugs other than eBay. Some immediate parts I need is a front bumper or bumper cover, and a spare tire cover in the color above in pics.
I’m so stoked to be a part of this group and preserving this beautiful beast!
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a 2008 Mitsubishi Pajero (3.2 Di-D / Automatic Transmission) and I’m currently doing a full baseline service/catch-up maintenance.
I pulled the transmission dipstick to check the fluid condition, and it’s dark brown/black and completely opaque to light, but it does NOT smell burnt and still feels quite slippery between my fingers (not watery or gritty). I noticed a very slight graininess for a split second, which immediately disappeared when rubbed.
How the transmission behaves:
Hey guys! I saw this Montero with these massive center fog lights. It looks OEM, and very sick. I love it I would like to know more about this model. Any info of it? Or how to add something similar to my Montero 1997?
Need a new transmission for my 91 Montero. It uses a Aisin Werner 03-72L tranny paired with a 3 L V6. I’ve found a donor from a delica with a 2.5 L diesel.
It has the same AW 0372L but obviously mated with a different engine. Would I be able to swap the bell housing from my current tranny to the theoretical donor. I don’t know much about the specifics of transmissions so any help is welcome. Thanks!
Still love her everyday, just had a kid so paused all work on her! But loaded the new family up and went to the park today, many more memories to come!
Guys just a hypothetical, if I wanted to change all the internal parts such as the engine, computer, and anything that ties with the jdm oem parts and let’s say switch it with a different car internal parts, how likely would that work? For example if I wanna use a 4 runner internal part.
206,xxx miles
*Great starter or project car
*Off-road performance 4WD
*215 hp, 3.8-liter, V6 Cylinder Engine
*Automatic Transmission
*Wood grain interior with black leather seats
*Heated front seats
*Working sunroof
*7 seats (3rd row)
*New Blackhawk Ridgecrawler tires
*Air and heat works great
*Clean title
Cons:
*Driver side windows won’t roll down
*Tear in drivers seat
*Fuel gauge stuck on empty but has digital kilometer gauge
*Scratches in paint
*Service engine light and traction control light is on (likely due to wheel speed sensor)
I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero with a rough idle and hesitation issue that has improved somewhat after repairs but still isn’t fully fixed. Originally the truck had a MAP sensor code, IAT code, and a misfire code along with rough idle, low RPM sputtering, and a hesitation from a stop. The symptoms were always worst in Drive or Reverse, where the idle would sometimes drop to around 500–600 RPM, shake badly, then suddenly jump up near 1k RPM and smooth out. Under acceleration, especially from a stop or low speed, the truck feels like it hesitates or holds back before suddenly catching and accelerating normally. I replaced the MAP sensor and afterward the MAP and IAT codes disappeared. I also found one physically broken coil pack and replaced it with an OEM coil. After replacing the coil, the roughness in Drive and Reverse improved and the truck drives somewhat smoother overall, but there is still hesitation at low RPM and the misfire code remains. At this point I’m trying to figure out what the remaining issue could be, any help would be appreciated!
The temperature gauge on my 2003 Mitsubishi montero stays below center when idling but goes 3/4 of the way up when driving then back below center while idling. I’ve been working on this car as a gift to a family member.
The freeon levels are good and the mechanic checked it three times so i know it is good but this darn thing is basically functioning as a fan and in 35c weather it is becoming a real problem. Does anyone know what i can look at to fix this issue?
Hello all,
I was gifted a 3rd gen Montero 3.5L 4 speed auto. I’m kindly asking for assistance as to
Loving the car and want to get it to tiptop condition
Thanks in advance
Hi together
For the past few weeks, I've been having a problem with my 2002 Montero: it shuts off on off-road tracks or even on regular unpaved roads. Afterwards, the A/T and battery lights come on red. I can restart the Montero normally and continue driving. However, after 5-20 minutes, it shuts off again. When starting after a "shutoff", you can accelerate, nothing happens for 2-5 seconds, but then there's a real jolt. I've already taken it to a mechanic. An error code related to the airflow sensor appeared, along with two or three error codes related to the transmission. These codes were cleared. I then started the car, drove around for about 10 minutes, had it scanned again, and the error codes were gone. A day later, I was driving off-road again, and the car shut off once more. The problem is still here.
Unfortunately, I don't know what to do. The mechanic said, it could be many things...
Image which I took suddenly after the "shut off": https://postimg.cc/DWSpQ0xw You can see the red symbols and also that the 4x2 and D sign/lights are green. So I don't know if it is a completely "shut off".
Need big help🙏
2004 Montero
Hello guys I just took my Montero V43W export version 1997 for a spin at the beach I wanted to check if the 4WD was working I recently got her.
As you can tell from the video the CV joint is clicking I noticed the torn boot on the outer joint.
Can I just change the boot? Or does the clicking sound indicate that I need to change the whole joint? How can I inspect it to see if I need to change it completely?
The first 2 owners took very good care of it. It was garage kept in California for the first 25 years, but still driven regularly as it has 188k miles on the dash. So far, I'm very happy with it.
