Fellow riders what do you drink on the road /tours

Hello all , as an avid motorcyclist I noticed only beverages available on road or to carry is water ,red bull (alternative energy drink) , coffee.

And maybe you guys go for cold drinks to drink fast Vs hot ? So less time wasted?

What are people having on either day trips ,commute or long tours?

And for the non alcoholic , once maybe staying over night on tour , I guess you go for tea ,and for the drinkers a beer?

I noticed my diet goes out the window when motorcycling especially when it comes to sugar /drinks

I'm asking because I'm thinking about creating an alternative

Edit update : are you guys health conscious about what you are drinking ?

Big aluminum box as topbox?

Looking for something around 600X400X400mm to haul large stuff. Side cases see a lot of use, but they just dont always have anough capacity. Also tie stuff down on the luggage rack/back seat all the time, but thats not allways a possibility. Thought something like this would work well since top cases are a bit on the small side.

Already have a solid base to mount it too. Would only occasionally use it, should be easy to mount quickly with some wing nuts. Would stick out behind the bike and onto the passanger seat, but not block the side cases.

Does anyone have experience with aluminum boxes as above? Reasons to maybe not use it or better alternatives? Seems like the best option to me since plastic boxes were either flimsy, not waterproof or the wrong size.

Passenger pickup 🧰

The protein shake is so I can carry this heavy ahhh tool/tackle box.

The 50 year old bottles of Excedrin and Aspirin are so I can relax.

Side of the road for free :3 so heavy that just one rox strap through the handle, and sandwiched between the driver seat and the milk crate was enough to hold it in place.

Eventually went back and picked up the home made welded angle caddy for it too. Thanks old man previous owner, where ever you are.

For all you Mountain Bikers…

I started as a car guy, eventually got into mountain biking. Figured I’d combine the 2 and get a motorcycle. Now I want to ride my motorcycle to the MTB trail and then go for a ride. I went down a rabbit hole and ended up finding the Kuat Dirtbag(only mount made of steel I could find) and ended up just welding that directly to the custom rear rack the previous owner put on it. Actually did quite well on the road and hit 60mph and barely noticed it was there with no issues. The mountain bike will hit some pretty weird angles and is odd to look at through the mirrors while going through really tight turns but does just fine. No issues with the bearings at all. Hub wasn’t even warm after a 15ish mile ride. Not sure how the tires will wear over a long period or a much longer ride/tour. I ended up just mounting the front wheel to the fork and bars. Sold both the bike and the mtb shortly after for a new emtb. Currently figuring how I’m gonna mount it to new new bike I just got(‘99 BMW enduro 650)

Little cargo mule :-)

I need to refill my water supply at my workplace, so 6x1,5L water bottles (>9kg) have to come with me. The topbox is already full, so the frunk is the one to be used. Obviously a a little visibly it doesn't close, but for my 20 Km highway commute this is not a problem at all. I've done it several times now and can say that works great as water transportation mule :-D

LPG bottles transporting?

Rental has LPG bottles for the cooktop (9kg, why I don't know!) and just ran out. It's a 3min/2.2kg ride one-way and is a generous slope down to the local servo to do a bottle swap.

I know I have a milk crate it fits into and secures to the rack with its own metal plate and have tie downs to secure the bottle in there firmly, but what are your thoughts?

I know we have some sketchy ways of making do on this sub but it's really a question of if this is downright stupidity?

Thinking of upgrading from a 125cc commuter bike for occasional cargo runs

I’ve been using a 125cc commuter bike (step-through style, similar to a small Honda commuter) for daily city riding in the US. Mostly for work commutes n quick errands. It’s been cheap to run, easy to filter through traffic n generally reliable so I haven’t really had a reason to upgrade until recently. A few days ago I tried a proper motorcycle pickup for a small office chair and monitor stand. The load wasn’t extreme but I noticed how much more sensitive the bike became under braking and cornering. Even though everything was strapped down securely. It still felt safe, just noticeably less predictable than normal riding. Now I’m wondering if moving up to something like a 250–300cc commuter or light dual-sport would actually improve stability enough to justify the upgrade. Or if the real limitation is my current setup and how I’m securing the load rather than the bike itself. I’ve been looking at rear racks and tie-down systems. Including some options from Facebook marketplace, Ebay, Alibaba but it’s hard to tell what actually improves real-world stability versus what just adds extra weight and complexity without much benefit. For riders who’ve moved from a 125cc commuter to a slightly larger bike for occasional cargo or motorcycle pickup use, what changed the most in practice? Is it stability under load, rack capability, or overall confidence when carrying uneven weight?
