Portfolio Feedback

Investment Horizon: 15-20 Years
Risk Tolerance: High Risk

Emergency Fund taken care. Invested the Lumpsum in Arbitrage fund as it is tax efficient for me.
Health and Term insurance taken care

Current Allocation:
Goal 1: Wealth Creation

  1. Nippon Small Cap - 18% of SIP amount
  2. Tata Small Cap - 14% of SIP amount (might replace this with SBI small cap)
  3. HDFC Flexi Cap - 22% of SIP amount
  4. Motilal Oswal Mid Cap - 22% of SIP amount
  5. Nifty 50 Index - 14% of SIP amount
  6. Nifty next 50 - 10% of SIP amount

Planing to add 5% oversees exposure by cutting the same % from small cap portion when oversees mutual funds start accepting SIPs.

Goal 2: Child Education

  1. SBI children's investment fund - 10K

I also investment lumpsum amount into Balance Advantage, Multi-Asset Allocation and Arbitrage Funds to purchase real estate in future (4-7 year horizon)

PF from company

Very few direct investment in new age stocks.

Axis Arbitrage Fund Taxed under Slab?

Is it a wrong info from Tijori/Zerodha? Or something in fine print. I was thinking all Arbritrage Funds are taxed as equity.

guide me

I'm a 2nd-year B.Tech Mechanical Engineering student, and I started investing around a year ago. Since then, I've been trying to learn about mutual funds, investing, and the stock market on my own.

Looking back, I realize that one of my biggest mistakes was putting a significant portion of my investments into Gold and Silver funds. At the time, I was mainly influenced by the high returns they had delivered recently, without really understanding concepts like asset allocation and diversification. Thankfully, it turned into a learning experience, and I've gained a much better understanding since then.

At present, the only SIP I actively invest in is the Navi Nifty 50 Index Fund, using my monthly savings as a student.

My investment horizon is long-term, as I'm investing for my future, and I have a high risk tolerance since I won't be needing this money anytime soon.

I've attached my current portfolio, and I'd really appreciate it if you could take a look and share your thoughts. Whether it's something I'm doing right, something I should improve, or mistakes that I might not be noticing, I'd be grateful for any advice. I'm still learning, so I genuinely welcome constructive criticism.

My long-term goal is not just to invest in mutual funds but to develop a solid understanding of the stock market—how businesses work, how to analyze companies, and how to become a better investor over time. I'd love to build investing into a skill that can eventually become a meaningful side income alongside my engineering career.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Any suggestions, resources, or advice would mean a lot to me.
