Tigers rooting gaijin ok at Tokyo Dome?
I have a ticket to tomorrow’s Tigers / Giants game at Tokyo Dome, somewhere high up behind home plate. Just want to be 100% sure I won’t be committing a faux pas by wearing a Marishita shirt, especially as a gaijin
Foreign visitor: Jingu or Koshien?
Coming from the US with my kids (ages 8 and 11). Want to catch a game and it will be between the Swallows at Jingu on June 19 or the Tigers at Koshien on June 24 or 25. I’ve been to a game at Tokyo Dome so would like something new. First NPB of any kind for the kids.
Which should I choose? Obviously for Hanshin, I’d need to get secondary market tickets.
Tigers Shota Morishita blasts a walk off homer, his 11th home run of the season
Going to first game tomorrow (but probably not...)
Is there a chance in hell the swallows game isn't cancelled?
I'm already trying to plan a new way to spend the day but maybe I'm overreacting to the weather report. I would love to still at least stop by the team store if that remains open?
I could get tickets to the hanshin tigers game the next Wednesday in Osaka to make up for the poor luck if there are any tickets available
Buffaloes center fielder Haruto Watanabe makes a great diving catch to end the inning
Tigers Randy Bass ties the NPB record by homering in his 7th straight game (from 6/26/86)
Where to get gear?
I’m landing in Tokyo at 2pm and headed straight to the stadium. It’s at Meiji stadium but my tickets are in the Giants section. Any way I can get sticks or any orange gear? thanks This is my first game.
chance theme 2. CLM
I like this chance theme but they hardly ever use this.
Hanshin Tigers experience in the 3rd Base Alps v Hiroshima Carp - 16/05
Just an absolutely unbelievable experience on Saturday, a real bucket list item ticked. I loved every single second of it and feel very privileged to have secured a ticket through 'special ticket for foreign visitors'. As a baseball fan this very much felt like something of a pilgrimage.
It's a shame others in that section didn't feel the same.
The guy next to me left after the 4th inning and never returned. The majority of that section (which was clearly all the 'foreign' tickets grouped together) left by the 8th inning, and it's not like the game was settled as it was 3-0 at this point and Hiroshima very nearly got a tie in the 9th. With the whole stadium staying behind for the post-match celebrations, it was just me and one other guy in a Dodgers hat surrounded by empty seats in our section.
While some people did get into the experience, get decked out in merch etc a lot of them seemed to have no interest at all in the actual game and spent the whole time talking about where they'd been on their trip or Googling places for dinner in Osaka. One guy was just shouting "I don't know what's going on!" every time the crowd cheered.
I get that people want to tick it off and have probably been influenced into going. I also get that a lot of people will also be watching baseball for the first time, or have limited knowledge of the sport, and maybe this will turn them into baseball fans. No problem wanting to be there for the experience, which is incredible in itself.
However, these tickets are like gold dust. I know genuine hardcore baseball fans who have been unable to get Hanshin tickets when visiting Japan, and no doubt missed out to these people as well. I was very lucky to get a ticket myself as the site showed 'sold out' right after I purchased. The idea of having gone through all that just to leave half way through is baffling to me.
It's great that so many people want to experience Japanese baseball, and nobody should be a gatekeeper, but somewhere like Tokyo Swallows is a much better place to get a 'casual' intro while not taking up a seat.
If you do get a ticket for Hanshin Tigers but aren't so interested in baseball, please at least stick around for the whole day and make an effort to get involved!
The hottest team in Japan right now? The Seibu Lions!
For the first time in 768 days, my favorite team, the Seibu Lions, are back in first place in the Pacific League**!**
Right now might be the perfect time to experience Lions baseball in Japan.
Belluna Dome is full of energy:
passionate cheering, amazing fans, unique stadium food, and a festival-like atmosphere every game.
If you’re visiting Japan this summer and want to experience real Japanese baseball culture, come watch a Lions game ⚾
Tokorozawa is also an easy day trip from Tokyo, so it’s a great option for travelers!
Feel free to ask about games, tickets, food, or how to enjoy Japanese baseball.
