X430 hooking the bumper bar

X430 hooking the bumper bar

FYI Navimow - not the first time either.

The software could use a feature for “partial vision fence” - ignore grass but avoid sticks. Vision fence on will allow more and more tall grass to build up around trees etc. Vision fence off works for large trees - cuts reasonably close - but will hook small trees when turning around.

A wrap around bumper bar would also work for avoiding the unit hooking its front wheels on objects.

100% charged to 85%

After the last update I noticed it is charging to 100% even though I lowered the limit to 85. Does this mean it is 100% charged to 85% capacity?

Any suggestions if that is not the case.

Thanks

Loud noise from X430 when cutting

We have a Navimow X430 that we purchased from a local dealer in Norway in April, and it has recently started making a really loud and unpleasant noise while mowing.

I’ve cleaned the underside thoroughly and can’t see any obvious issues with either of the cutting discs or the blades. There are also no signs of anything being stuck underneath. The mower appears to be cutting the grass as it should.

I was thinking about removing the cutting discs to inspect them more closely, but I’m wondering if it would be better to send the mower in for service instead. Has anyone else experienced the same problem?

Driving around, wasting battery

So I've noticed that mowing around no-go zones is highly unoptimized. For example, today the mower decided to mow around a no-go zone on the complete opposite side of the zone from the one it completed.

And it does that basically every time. Instead of mowing around the no-go zone right next to the previous one, it decides to go to ones further away and continue there.

I get that it is a robot, and I shouldn't worry about it as long as everything is mowed (which it is), but that is just wasting battery and lowering the efficiency of the mower.

P.S. My yard is hell for these robots with all the no-go zones, so in general, I am very happy with how it deals with them. Some are so close the mower barely fits, but it still manages that. (i210 lidar pro)

Why is there no universal deck height measurement for robot mowers?

Simple questions require simple answers.

I am asking this question because I currently have two lawn robots. The difference between what the two of them believe is a 3-in cutting height, is about 3/4 in.

My lawn tells me that the apps disagree by that much.

Traditional lawn mowers have a obvious way to measure their deck height before they start a lawn job.

How can I get the same data from my lawn robots? Serious question! 🤔

WTF is Up w/ Henrietta Kids?! (Stealing/Destruction of Property)

I gotta rant about this, I am pissed.

My friend's automower (automatic/robot lawnmower) was stolen in Henrietta this morning by a group of kids and when police finally located it (which was just down the street from where it was taken), it was completely wrecked. The kids had cut all the wires/cables, severed the power supply, and even fucking spray painted it. (See photos)

Seriously, what kind of hell spawn does this? It's bad enough that they stole the mower (& from their neighbor no less) but to completely destroy something someone else spent obviously a lot of their hard earned money on just for ~funsies~ is beyond fucked up. They clearly had zero intention of trying to use it at all, otherwise why destroy it? What kind of fucked up person does that, much less a group of them?? They can't even claim they thought it was trash since it was in the middle of mowing the god damn lawn!

The police did talk to the parents and they'll be paying for a replacement, which my friend is satisfied with, as long as they pay. But personally, I think those kids deserve to be punished. I call them "kids" but they're definitely old enough to know better and they need be taught a lesson for once in their life.

Unfortunately, the parents are most likely going to be the ones paying for replacement so those kids are basically just getting away with it and will probably do it again. It's not like I want them locked up or anything but maybe if they were charged or something it'd teach them that there are real consequences for their actions. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Part of me wants to just post their names/address and publicly shame them/let the internet do its thing but my friend doesn't want me to and I (kinda) agree morally. I just wish those fuckers would get whats coming to them, then grow up to be decent citizens...

Side note: Normally, automowers getting stolen isn't actually too much of an issue since most have great anti theft features. Most have location trackers that are incredibly accurate (like exact gps coordinates accurate) & the location tracking usually can't be turned off without completely disconnecting/severing its power supply. Plus, they're pretty much bricked outside your property. Police typically get them back to you within a day or two.

Resume mowing after charging

My X430 is set to charge to 85 percent and recharge when down to 15%. If it is in the middle of a one-time moving request and heads back to the base to recharge, will it not head back out until it is fully charged (to 85 percent in my case)?

Baby #4 just arrived! I enjoy lawn care, but family time is the priority. Will Navimow help recapture precious family time?

We bought our first home in 2018 and with one kid, I had the time to invest in our lawn. Did a full rehab and have been very proud of the results, see pictures. I’ve enjoyed maintaining the investment I made in the lawn. Fast forward to today and we have four kids and a dog. I still enjoy lawn care, but feel guilty not spending the time with the family. We don’t have the money right now to hire a service and we haven’t found a reliable high schooler in the area.

I’m considering tapping into some home maintenance funds we’ve saved up to buy a Navimow. Seems like the best way to still be responsible for lawn care, but with fewer (and less time-consuming) maintenance tasks. I know I’ll still need to trim and work through mapping/software issues, but the thought of playing ball with my sons while mowing the lawn seems like fatherhood optimization!

For those who have made the leap, are the time savings real and has it been worth it for you?

We Hear You: Why do you want clockwise/counter-clockwise border cutting? (Product Team Inquiry)

Hey guys,

First off: We hear you loud and clear.

We’ve been closely following the discussions and subreddits lately, and we know there’s been some frustration. We want you to know that the team is actively listening, and our main priority right now is to roll up our sleeves and make things right.

To do that, we need to build what you actually need, not what we think you need. That’s why the product team wanted to come directly to you regarding a highly requested feature we've been seeing: The ability to change the boundary/border cutting direction (switching between clockwise and counter-clockwise).

We want to make sure we code this exactly right, so we need your real-world feedback to understand the underlying problem.

Here’s our current engineering logic (and why we want your input): Right now, for the main lawn pattern, we use 6 different mowing angles to distribute the wheel tracks evenly so your grass doesn't get matted down. However, since boundary cutting always follows the exact same perimeter line, just flipping the direction from counter-clockwise to clockwise doesn't actually change the wheel track path—the tires are still rolling over the exact same dirt, just in reverse.

Because of that, we want to know the "why" behind this request so we can build a solution that actually solves your daily yard pain points:

  1. What is the main issue you’re facing with single-direction border cutting right now? (Is it soil compaction, tire slipping on specific turns, or something else?)
  2. If we add the option to choose the border direction, how exactly will it improve your lawn?
  3. Is it about the blade rotation? (e.g., Do you need the blades to spin/cut from the opposite side to lift the grass up better against fences and walls?)

We’re here to listen, take notes, and get to work. Lay it all out for us in the comments!

Thanks for helping us make the bot better. Cheers!

Crabgrass, the x450 cant cut it

So, the gas company serviced the line going to my house a year or two ago and planted crabgrass as part of the repair. The x450 will not cut it. Huge stalks, going to seed. very annoying. Recommended solution?

X430 Updates & Charging Limits Exceeded

I'm going to assume it's the iPhone people who don't understand this premise.

Whether it's a phone or a robotic mower with a charging limit for battery health that you enabled. An update may cause your phone or robotic mower to charge temporarily to 100% or higher than what limit you had imposed. This is common sense 101 stuff for tech.

We have been able to set charging limits on Google Pixel smartphones for years.

Segway Navimow X430 Updates Incoming..

Saw these updates dropping on the west coast before midnight for the X430. Let's gooo!

I came home from the store with my phone's bluetooth still on. Since my X430 is on my back patio and close to my living room where I was sitting. I heard the mower waking up to update through my phone.

Stop Rebooting X430 After Updates

I have updated my X430 3 times without doing a single reboot. I sent the X430 out after last night's update on a trial run this afternoon. The mower didn't do anything stupid. I sent the X430 back to the dock after the mower transitioned between the front and backyard.

Whoever told you that you MUST reboot the X430 after every update is tech illiterate. Phones, computers, and the X430 will AUTOMATICALLY reboot themselves when WARRANTED after receiving any updates.

Getting life back

The addition of a robot mower has helped me get my life back, and I can spend more time with my kids. Yard is just under half acre, majority of it hills up to 38 degrees. I suffer from cluster headaches and mowing had always been a trigger. My son would help mowing, but with all his school stuff and part time job, he’s not always around. This year we had a great Father’s Day as I felt good, no cluster headaches since adding the robot mower. It’s been fantastic so far! It goes out every 2-3 days and it just simply works!

Bermuda

Considering my first robot mower. Bermuda grass upkeep has been too much lately with a 18 mo old and another baby coming this year.

Mowing 0.5 acres every 4-5 days to maintain the yard was fine before kids but spending Father’s Day mowing took some time away from the little one. I’ve got mild to moderate slopes maybe 20-30 degrees with forest line around the property. Entering the contest to try out but also open to suggestions on models to consider. Thanks.

Home Depot sale + coupon = x430 for $1899

I received a Home Depot flyer in the mail with a 10% off coupon and no-interest-for-one-year financing for any HD credit card purchase over $299. So last night, I ordered an x430 for $2099-10% = $1899. Not sure I'm going to find a better deal than that!

Any chance to have PD coupons again?

Missed the PD giveaway and regret it now. That coupon would be over $100 off. Anyone know if Amazon or official site coupon is still available somewhere? I was hoping to get X430 with that discount, but looks like I checked too late...Looking for comfort here...

Vanity strips?

I'm guessing the x430 or any robotic mower won't be able to cut these vanity strips? There's a curb there too that makes it a pain to mow with anything...

Force mow

Hi all,

Been on holiday last week so my i220 Lidar didn’t run for 7 days.

My grass still has some fast growing weed which my mower now tried to avoid as they are sparse but too tall (some higher than the robot). Is there a way to force the mower to go through these places and mow anyway instead of avoiding them ?

Many thanks!
