Gauging Feature Interest: Perimeter Testing

I've been setting up my Navimow mowers for two years now and I'm curious if others would find this feature helpful.

Issue: I always verify that the mower can handle each zone I create before I start scheduling and letting it mow while I'm not around. I've found that the vast majority of issues that need to be worked out occur at the edge of zones rather than in the middle. Testing each zone is time consuming because it wants to continue mowing, so you have to stop the mower, end the task, then set it to mow the next zone to test.

Feature: Perimeter Testing

What It Would Do: The mower would just do the perimeter of the zones you select for testing, allowing you to take notes and then update/fix the map after testing is finished. I do something similar with my sprinkler system. I can run each irrigation zone for 2 minutes to see if there are any issues. I can take notes, and then make the fixes.

Would this be helpful to any others?

X430 Potential Return

I am debating whether or not to return my Segway Navimow X43O. Simply because it will freak out sometimes along the driveway channel. Turning vision fence off for the channel or setting up a vision fence off zone doesn't resolve the issue. Because the mower will just slam into the 4 inch curb that spans the length of my driveway since it runs along the channel.

  1. Speaking of the driveway side channel for the X430. There is an opening between the curb and a sidewalk lamp post. The X430 decided it would be a great idea to try and shoot through that 36 inch wide opening towards my neighbors Corvette he's trying to restore. His driveway and car sits only 2 ft from the property line. I stopped the mower before it crossed the property line. In all fairness, I think the mower was confused after I picked it up since it ran into the curb.

I moved the mower from the driveway edge to the sidewalk. At this point the map was probably off. The mower goes the opposite direction from my lawn towards my neighbors property via sidewalk by about 3 ft. I point it back towards my lawn and it figured things out.

  1. The mower doesn't have a good logic for mowing. They haven't made any updates to the mowers logic either. For example, if you turn edge mowing off. The mower should theoretically mow over the edges, especially IF they rest along a sidewalk or driveway. The mower DOES NOT. It should continue its mowing pattern across the boundary.

  2. I don't think it's good for the mower to perform the same edge mowing pattern every single time. Edge mowing would be irrelevant if what I stated in paragraph #2 was resolved.

  3. Where are the updates to resolve these issues?

  4. Glad I purchased my mower from Home Depot. I have 90 days to return the X430.

Thin ice

I watched a few you tube reviews before pulling the trigger. I felt the 30 day money back guarantee was enough insurance for me. The mower arrived today and I haven't convinced myself that I'm not going to put it back in the box.

First impressions: It's confused and underpowered.

I installed it outside and powered it on - after setting up the app and connecting to wifi it took 30 minutes of updates before it was ready to roll.

I tried manual drive first - Have some tall grass - but nothing a "normal" mower could not take care of. It took several tight overlapping passes to get it knocked down. It seems like the blades are not very large and

I then did a map of a part of my yard. After completing the map and setting it loose - it went in the opposite direction of my original walk, it got into a corner where it was not able to honor my boundary - just did a small part of the area and moved on.

Instead of cleanly tracking the boundary or intelligently avoiding obstacles it is stopping, pausing and then moving in weird patterns.

The grass is also not cut very well - and may take several passes which is looking like a day or two at this rate.

It managed to mow .08 acres with a 75% charge.

After having seen it in action in my yard - I think that the videos are misleading as to it's efficacy and abilities.

We shall see.

Help me find where my mower is hiding lol

you will not find it, cause I do not have one yet! I really need suggestion on robotic mower for the daily mows so that I can actually enjoy my weekends. My backyard layout is a bit messy with the landscaping, and I have more space to work with in the front yard. Total lawn is around 0.12 acres. A friend suggested Navimow, and have been looking at the i215 and the H210. The H210 looks on paper like it may have better performance out of those more complicated corners, but since my yard isn't very large, I'm wondering whether the i2 series is enough. Has anyone here tried both? Wondering if the navigation update is even worth it.

Segway Navimow X43O Striping

I asked Google AI why the Segway Navimow X43O doesn't do striping. Here are the results:

The Segway Navimow X430 does not actively create high-contrast mowing stripes like a traditional heavy gas mower. This limitation comes down to its ultralight weight, omnidirectional turning system, and a software design focused on grass health over aesthetics.

Why the X430 Doesn't Stripe

StripeUltra-Lightweight & No Heavy Rollers:

Traditional striping is created by heavy mowers (or dedicated rollers) that bend the grass blades in specific directions. The X430 is a lightweight, autonomous robot with a floating deck that cuts tiny clippings frequently rather than pressing heavily into the turf.

Omnidirectional Navigation (Xero-Turn): The X430 utilizes all-wheel drive and pivoting front wheels to make zero-turn maneuvers without tearing up your lawn. This causes the mower to change its mowing angles frequently (often rotating up to \(30^{\circ }\) on sequential runs) to promote healthy, even growth, which prevents the uniform bending of grass required for visual striping.

No Manual Stripe Settings:

The app’s built-in parameters rely on alternating grid patterns (like North-South/East-West grids) to avoid soil compaction and grass-leaning, but it does not have software functionality to force the strict, single-direction passes needed for traditional aesthetic striping.

Blade Guard Design:

The X4-series features specific blade protection and smaller exposed cutting widths that reduce the overlapping edge-to-edge passes associated with creating bold striping patterns.

Airtag suggestions X4

Looking for some suggestions on where to put an air tag on an X4? Any good spots people have tried?

But my dude, don't you know you can link it to your Apple account. Yes bro, I do know that, however I don't have an iPhone, so the unit is linked or binded to my android phone number as the primary user.

But my wife does have an iPhone and I'm hoping to link it to that too so we have a redundancy in case of theft.

Help i210 upgraded to x430

Hey everyone hoping to get some help i have a pretty standard cookie cutter house yard with neighbors and a fence. i had an i210 but my grading in my ard was terrible and there was some holes the i210 just kept getting stuck in, too many to fill. So I did what any reasopnable person would do and upgraded to the x430. I am having some main problems with it now.

  1. Although the boundaries are set pretty good it seems to literally just stop all the time turning, now it doesnt notify me that its stuck but itll just stop and wait for a minute or two then try again, until eventually it unsticks itself but it does this literally all the time. Is it normal for it to at first just stop in the middle of the yard? The i210 never did this, it just trucked along pretty good to be honest.

  2. It was a pain to set up the mowgate to it, it kept giving me error 6101 and 9105, the i210 never did this. I tried it enough times that it eventually did it but now it just refuses to go through or the door doesnt unlock and it just rams into the door and keeps pushing it. Again the i210 just worked everytime never had a problem.

  3. It just doesnt cut all of my yard and say its done, like random blank spots you can clearly see in the map not cut, again the i210 was amazing at this it cut every single blade of grass before it finished

I honestly rather deal with the stuck problems of the i210 than all of this crap. I hope I am missing something because this thing looks like a beast i just dont get what I am doing wrong.

Why is the i2 Lidar Pro less efficient than other mowers with the same battery capacity?

I’m considering buying the Navimow i210 Lidar Pro, but I’m confused by the battery/performance specs compared to the other models.

All of the following three models use the same 5.1 Ah battery, yet the mowing performance is very different:

- H2 1000 → 70 min charge, 110 min mowing time, 348 m² per charge

- i208 Lidar → 110 min charge, 110 min mowing time, 265 m² per charge

- i210 Lidar Pro → 90 min charge, 75 min mowing time, 195 m² per charge

Does anyone know why the i210 Lidar Pro gets significantly less mowing time and covers much less area per charge despite having the same battery capacity?

Is it because of different motors, LiDAR power usage, wheel setup, or something else?

Would appreciate any insight from people who own these models or understand the technical differences.

I210 Set Boundary is moving / creeping

I have set up boundaries multiple times remapped the boundaries and it’s always migrating or moving in one direction.
Has anybody else had this issue?
Essentially it just keeps going in one direction so over the course maybe two weeks it’ll be two or 3 feet off where it should be ?

Navimow H210 using 4g even when WiFi only selected

Any ideas on why this is happening. In the app I have it set to WiFi only. While it’s on the dock, it shows connected to WiFi and I can see on my Unifi network that mower is connected to WiFi. Once it leaves the dock and starts a mow, it switches to 4g and disconnects from the WiFi, in the Unifi app it shows the mower disconnects so I know the navimow app is not wrong when it shows it using 4g. I have a dedicated access point in the back yard, side yard, and front yard and have great WiFi coverage but can’t figure out why it’s still using 4g even when WiFi only is selected.

Navimow won't charge

It will go home and recognize that it's parked but won't charge. I've cleaned the contacts and it hasn't changed anything. The ambient temperature is 70°F. I purchased it about a month ago and worked fine up until now. Google and the Navimow FAQ page have not been helpful. Anyone here able to give me some insight?

latest ACU update (V1.0.2.3)

After the latest ACU update (V1.0.2.3), my i210 LiDAR Pro no longer returns properly to the charging station. It drives erratically, almost like it’s drunk, and leaves many uncut patches.

Before the update, everything worked fine.
How can I fix this issue? Is there a way to recalibrate the mower, restore the previous firmware, or reset the navigation system?

i210 8 Weeks Update

I have a love hate relationship with my i210. I ultimately chose this over the Mammotion Luba 2 mini simply for the mowgate since we have a little dog and we don’t want to accidentally leave the gate open for the mower to get from the back to the front.

I have St. Augustine grass in South Texas, approximately 3700sqft of grass, and angled islands between the sidewalk and the curb, so 4wd or awd was a must. With St. Augustine grass, we typically have to keep it longer to flourish, so mine is cut to about 3.5” the shortest.

The mowgate works great as expected and was simple enough to install. -Awesome!

I have to say, when it works, it works great, cuts great, and leaves beautiful cut lines.

I’ve been frustrated enough from the get go and wanted to return the darn thing, but since it was opened, had a few scrapes from self inflicted auto mapping, and having to face a restocking fee, discouraged me from doing so and look for possible solutions.

Issue 1 - often the Navimow would lose signal and begin recalibration, sometimes going around in circles for 20 minutes like an idiot.
*Solution - I installed the RTK antenna and took it off the network RTK.
For reference, I have a mesh network system and my WiFi reaches beyond the property line on all sides. I was not expecting to see the thing lose signal that often.

Issue 2 - the Navimow often gets stuck due to the grass being too high, even with it mowed down to the proper height, it was having issues.
*Solution - I cut the bottom of the body trim all the way around. This has resolved the issue of the Navimow getting stuck on St. Augustine grass. - video and pictures to follow.

Issue 3 - the Navimow has issues handling a 3” grass ledge at times, especially if the ground is at an angle, typical condition for South Texas. Very often, the small rear wheel would get stuck, and I’ve found my Navimow sitting in the middle of the street because it couldn’t get itself back over the curb into the grass. My curb is one of those gradual sloped curb, not the tall ones.
*Solution - I ultimately turned off perimeter cut to keep the Navimow away from the edge. - Resulting in more uncut grass at the edge.

Issue 4 - even with perimeter cut turned off, a handful of times now I’ve found the Navimow has slipped off the grass and landed upside down in the street like a turtle. The rear wheel would somehow slip off the grass 2-3” ledge at an angle, and since it’s only 1 wheel in the back, would flip over. - picture to follow.
No solution yet. If I can’t figure this out, my only option might be to map it even further away from the edge, which I think is ridiculous. I already programmed it to cut in a single direction to avoid possibly having the rear wheel slipping off the grass.

For reference, my island’s angle is only 12-18 degree angle in some areas.

My brother has expressed interest in purchasing one of these robot mowers, I’ve had to steer him towards the Luba 2 mini instead.

I’m hoping I can still make this Navimow work. These things are too expensive to just jump from one mower to the next. Right now I do not trust it enough to operate on its own without someone home for supervision, in the event that it gets stuck in the middle of the street and slipped upside down.

I welcome your inputs on things I could try.

Thanks!

X430 Issues - FML

I was having driveway issues with the X430. I had at least a 40 inch wide space for the mower to travel down our driveway. The mower had no problems after my wife returned from a trip in her second car. She parked her car alongside the channel for the mower. A few days later I started having issues. I tried a vision fence off zone and turned vision fence off while in a channel. They seemed to temporarily work, but the mower would still act finicky and try to turn around. Then it dawned on me after turning the bells and whistles back on for the mower. The mower beeped at my wife's car to say move! That's when I figured out the headaches and what caused 3 scratches on my wife's lower car deflector. She was parked too close to the channel. Having my wife move her new car over 18 inches resolved everything.
