We all know there’s a wide range of printed canvas quality and I’m not against the idea. But how bad is it really when it comes to trying to stitch let’s say a medium quality canvas? I’m not sharing the canvases or designer because you’ve all dragged her before for things unrelated to her print quality lol but she has 5-6 canvases that I love for my daughter’s room. I don’t want to spend money for everyone to say I told you so lol

What is the purpose of being in monthly clubs just for them to resell it? I see so many bar cart clubs, tiny animal club, mjd flower club, etc on destashing pages.

I've been saying it for months but my needleminder from The Studio Stitch flinging off my canvas has motivated me to start my list of low quality needleminders. If they can barely hold a needle, add 'em. And if people disagree, I'm still adding it because it could be a quality control issue which also deserves shaming!

I just don’t even understand the appeal

Friends and I traveled all the way from the Midwest to NYC for PL’s NYC exclusive canvases this weekend and have to say the experience was a huge disappointment. Each of us wanted an exclusive canvas that ended up not being in stock, including “I’m walkin here”, PL metro card, NY apple, and MANY more. Honestly their selection was pretty minimal, including the non-NYC canvases.

Asked if we could preorder their out of stock NYC canvases since we came all the way to the store, employees just said no and were overall unhelpful. ??why you can’t order for shipping from the store like literally ANY OTHER store, I have no clue. We were advised to contact customer service who pretty much said “sorry about your luck, guess you’ll have to come back”

Normally I wouldn’t be so upset, but they’re constantly dropping new releases of canvases and then never restock the popular ones. It’s getting annoying and we were super disappointed in this part of our trip.

On the bright side, the girls at Rita’s and Morgan Julia were super fun, amazing, and helpful! Would definitely recommend heading to those two shops while in NYC.

Can someone give me the TLDR on all of this... I can not keep up/make sense of it!

I recently got into needlepoint and loving it! Is it just me or do so many designs read as cheesy! It’s giving someone who has corny or cliché text signs in their house like "Live, Laugh, Love," "Gather," or "Home Sweet Home". They often feel old, basic or tacky. Are there any brands that have designs that don’t give off that vibe? Also, what are some fun things you can do when finishing your designs? Not looking to hang mine up or use as ornaments.

Anyone else have a problem with Silk and Ivory not lying smoothly? I’ll have a skein that’s perfect then one that’s stiff.

I have good tension, let my needle unwind every couple stitches, and I go with the “smooth direction” of the thread. I turn the thread after I pass through a hole to try to get rid of lumps or bumps, but it’ll still look wonky sometimes.

Thoughts?

What do you typically charge if painting for someone else? I like to paint more than I like to stitch, so if people need ghost painters esp with fall market coming up, what would be fair? Does anyone even like to do this or is it too expensive if you’re US based?

What is reasonable - per canvas? Per hour?
