If you lost a string trimmer off your trailer this afternoon, I saw it coming off and ran after you in my socks trying to get your attention. Left it out by the curb the rest of the day in case you retraced your steps looking for it. I have it inside for the night.

“Event City” loves to advertise all there is to do here, but where does all that money go?

Taxes go up every year for citizens, and what do we get? Want to park on the street overnight? Sorry, it’ll cost you more. Want access to the yard facility? Sorry, pay up. Free mulch? Pound sand, mulch it’s ours.

Oh but they send out the goon squad to canvas the city, looking for “safety” violations. That little yard trailer you got parked off in the corner? That’s unsafe, pay up or move it. That sidewalk slab looks like it’s got a little lip- safety issue- pay up.

Screw this city.

Our transit system shuts down at 6:45 PM while nearby cities run service until midnight or later—leaving Oshkosh workers stuck paying $15 for a cab ride home. I started a petition to demand extended hours, Sunday service, and reliable routes so we can actually get to work and back.

Sign if you believe Oshkosh deserves a transit system that works for everyone.

How do we change the ridiculous invasion of privacy that is needed to qualify for a community improvement loan? Our friend in the city of Oshkosh, applied for a low interest loan to pay for roof repairs. She has a very small apartment rental in her home (separate residence). The city wants the following info from her tenant: tax return, ssn, net assets and a copy of the tenant's SSA statement for 2025! This tenant doesn't own the property. The infomation request is in addition to the tax return, assets and SSA statements which are required for the owner ( which is understandable)

Why would the city require this and who do.we contact to get these requirements changed. This is egregious and a violation of privacy.

I live in the area and drove past around 9pm, looked like there were 10 cop cars on the block.

Hey everyone. Apologies if this is not allowed. I've been in the area for 5 years and miss the sense of community interaction and involvement I had at my previous city. A large chunk of what I think is missing is connection to other people in my neighborhood (let alone the city at large): community gardens, food drives, self defense classes, book clubs, labor/skill swapping, and other forms of mutual aid. I was wondering if there are any progressive or leftist community centered organizations in the area that one can join or volunteer for? Does not have to be in Oshkosh exclusively, as I'd be willing to travel to other cities in the Fox Valley.

For ethical concerns, I'm hoping to steer clear of some of the larger nonprofits like Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Boys and Girls Club, and the Democratic Party.

It looks like there used to be a DSA chapter in the area and every once in awhile I'll see a Vets for Peace poster up, but I'm not sure if those are active.

I understand that this is a fairly conservative town (more so in some of the surrounding communities), but I'm hanging on to hope that there's something like this in the area.

Anyone know what’s going on at Fleet Farm? There’s over a dozen cops in the parking lot closed off and you can’t get in.

Ive been talking to this guy from Milwaukee, he wants to visit and spend time with me for his upcoming birthday, and I want ideas for fun things to do or show him around the Oshkosh/ Appleton area that is either free/ affordable.

Hes a really kind person and I really want to make this birthday a special one for him!

I'm hopefully going to move in with my partner from a different state next yearish- but we are planning on moving back to Oshkosh together the following year or so. I only have my small bedroom worth of stuff.

People with experience, what is the best place to look at in the area with an affordable price? I was looking at U-haul but $80 and up a month seems like a lot- though I have zero experience, so that's why I'm asking for help

Any recommendations is welcome, as well as thoughts, opinions, and warnings on the options in the area. Thanks in advance!
