Still no plans to upgrade to PS5

I only bought my ps4 pro in 2020, I was playing on pc before that. With uni and work, I didn’t get to play much in the past four years, now I’m about work full time, I have so much games to catch up on. I have not finished last of us and yet to even start the Assassin creed series . I’m looking at another 5-6 years before I will need to upgrade. By then, ps6 will be out so I could either get a cheap ps 5 or go back to PC since all games are going to be digital.

Not much of a question, but just curious if anyone else is in a similar boat?

Just like the PS3 store is closing down, eventually the PS4 store will close down too.

As someone who has been building a digital library for more than a decade, I'm honestly terrified. It leaves me with a few questions:

- Will our digital libraries even work after the shutdown?

- Will we still be able to redownload games we legally own, and will it download their updates and patches?

If the answer to these is "no," then what are we actually paying for?

Finally bought a PS4

Recently got back into gaming after not owning any consoles for about 15 years 😅🥲 probably longer. I started gaming again with a PS2 since that’s what I grew up with. But started looking more into games and consoles, so I decided to get a PS3 (probably my favorite console so far). Then I bought a PSP. I kept watching gaming videos and saw that the newer God of War games were available on PS4 so I said “fuck it why not?” Finally arrived today 🤩💪🏽🙂 So excited to play all these games I missed out on for the last decade and a half.

I don’t think I’ll be getting a PS5. Most games on there seem to be just remakes or remasters.

P.S. Keep physical media alive!

What’s the game that keeps your PS4 plugged in?

Hey all,

Very quick background: I grew up on PlayStation as a kid and teenager, but disconnected from the brand almost altogether from the PS4 generation onwards. I’ve not owned a PS5 (nor do I plan to until that generation is end of life) and most of my gaming happens now on a PC handheld, or a retro handheld console via emulation.

That said - I’ve always loved PlayStation games - just not their business practices. With the recent physical disc announcement, I’m hunting down a PS4 Pro console and wanting to build a nice physical library of PS4 exclusives.

Would love some general collecting tips given we are well past the consoles’ official life - and some exclusives you love that are must-play games.

Thanks heaps, looking forward to chiming in in this community a bit more! Happy Gaming from Australia.

The best way you as a consumer can protest is with your wallet.

Don't just boycott Sony's gaming division. Don't buy Sony's anything. If the people who care strongly enough about this make an effort to avoid the Sony brand we can make a difference. The louder we are the harder we'll be to ignore.

Playstation gonna ruin gaming

Hearing Playstation will not sell Physical copy on games in the future. I love having the physical disc because you own it and can share it with your friends like how Playstation said back in 2013 with the PS4 The fact they are turning the another way is crazy, even being on Santa's Naughty list now is crazy if buying isn't owning then pirating isn't stealinf Mods stop defending Playstation

Time to realize PS4 is peak

Physical disc is gone from 5pro and soon physical games will disappear entirely from PS6. PS4Pro had 4k rdr2, god of war and endless other exclusives at years ago with graphics that can outmatch games today, That will continued to be played for likely decades. Unique thing about PS4 is that it is the first generation where the graphics and mechanics of it's library won't be considered ancient or outdated in the future. New players claimed it was just checkboard 4k, Now they suck 60dollar copies of "remake" liberty version of PS4 games at 30fps Pssr 4k rendering like they are holy grail. At least they got what they asked for. With "better performance".

What are the best PS4 games that come complete with no required "Day 1 patch" to install ?

I want games you can put in the drive bay completely offline and play like the in the PS1/PS2 days.

What are the best games that fit that criteria?

Welp, all the more reason to get things physically.

I know this isn't strictly about the PS4, but how long before Sony pulls the plug on our store? Buy physically, make sure the game is on the disk, and don't buy games released after 2028 ig.

Is buying a console of Ebay better than amazon?

(Might delete soon for personal reasons) (Thank you all for all of your comments)
Am looking to purchasing my first gaming console a PS4 I at first tried amazon but the prices are too high and the reviews are not great. Am thinking about using Ebay however it will be my first time doing so. Is it safe or trustworthy to buy a console off of Ebay instead of amazon if so what to look for?

Console Sharing / Game Sharing on the brink.

After the disc discontinuation announcement, I wonder if PlayStation will stoop even lower and disable the console sharing feature sooner or later, having knowledge of how people rent digital games or split the cost of a game between each other.

I'm not saying that they'll put a blanket ban on console sharing, but perhaps they'll restrict it to a scenario where only consoles connected on the local single WiFi network will be able to console share the games. This will eventually force the genuine consumers (i.e. distant friends or family who split the cost of one game amongst themselves) to eventually purchase the full digital edition which will get them MORE profit.

Can I yap about PS4 Minecraft?

Yo back in like, 2016 or 2017, right? Right. I was introduced to Sony. Right? Right. And let me tell you how good the first game was... it was Minecraft. That carried my life up until 2024 or 2025. Right? Right. I had two controllers, me and my brother used to play all the time. That was the peak of PS4 games in my opinion. Thanks

Where is the Studio Canal discourse?! This is not okay!

Where is all the discussion about the 500 plus movies being removed? Posts are being deleted about this across multiple PlayStation subs. This is not okay.
