More Dark Age Irish tonight. Thought I’d “grow up” and have a go at hand painting some shield designs on this lot.

I must say that they turned out better than I expected so hopefully the next 30 or so I do will get better & better!!! 🤣

28mm wargames Atlantic plastics, really like these figures as they have no shoes and I really don’t like painting shoes!!!

Halfdan Oathbreaker swore before gods and men never to abandon the shieldwall.

At Stamford Bridge, he broke that oath… and butchered friend and foe alike in the madness that followed.

Harald hardrada and his viking host held out and delayed Godwinson long enough resulting in a VIKING VICTORY! My Saxons and I were defeated but great game just gunked up the bridge to fast and not enough KILLING!

P.S. Hardrada was the last viking holding the bridge to tough.

First time painting a non-GW mini outside of the occasional commission. Really impressed with the quality on Victrix stuff. Used Two Thin coats flesh wash for the first time and will thin it in future as it made him swarthier than I intended. Still, happy with him as a nicer end of tabletop, and it was fast to do!

Game later today I'll definitely take some pic and let everyone know how it goes.

Look like they’ve spent the last six months sleeping in mud, drinking ditch water, and arguing over who gets the first axe swing.

Exactly how I wanted them.

So I built my models before reading any list building or rules. My unpainted models should be easy enough for to correct, for example the guy with the spear and sword. Btw, I paint the shields separate, I like the pose and I was thinking of putting a shield on his back. But reading the rules I now know her can’t have a spear a shied and it’s wysiwyg. So either count the spear as a jevaline or remove the spear and put a shield instead.

I suppose the same wit the horseman, I have two with spears and I put sheathed swords on. I guess I can either pluck off the swords or count the spears as javelins and have the additional hand weapon. But that would be extra points bend used up. Any thoughts or ideas?
