Cheap filter problem

I visited LLandudno yesterday with my pinhole camera and a recently purchased cheap yellow filter. When I developed the film every shot taken with the filter on has bulls eye rings clearly eminating out from the center of picture. I think the filter must be uncoated and has caused reflections back through the pinhole. Lesson learned, I've just ordered a Tiffen filter that is definately coated. The last 2 shots were shot without a filter in place just to highlight the problem.

Recently bought a Silver Jewel Pinhole Camera.

Brought it out around Dublin for a test roll. A really fun little camera, and a few folks wondering what the odd little wooden box I was using was 😁 Film is Ilford XP2

A 6-Month Solargraph That Accidentally Became the Church's Final Portrait

I spent about six months making this solargraph. The first image was actually a four-day test to dial in the composition and make sure the camera mount would hold up. Once I was happy with it, I started the final exposure on the winter solstice with the plan to finish it on the summer solstice.

Just a couple of days before I was going to retrieve the camera, the church suffered a devastating fire that completely destroyed the steeple and roof.

It's a heartbreaking loss for the community, but there are plans to rebuild. I'll leave the GoFundMe in the comments for anyone who feels moved to help.

Looking back, the timing of this photograph feels especially meaningful. Without intending to, it became a record of the church's final six months as it stood. My pinhole photography journey also began with this church as my subject while I experimented with different cameras and learned through plenty of trial and error. I've included some of those earlier images to help tell that story.

I hope you enjoy these photographs as much as I enjoyed creating them. I'm looking forward to seeing the church rebuilt, and I hope its next chapter inspires me, and others, to keep making photographs for years to come.

382 sunsets behind a water tower

Today I recovered the solargraph I'd set up a year ago near a water tower. I was there for another hobby, recovering weather balloon probes. I'd brought some solargraphs in case I found an interesting spot. A year later, another balloon fell nearby, but I couldn't get it because it was stuck in a tree! At least I recovered my camera. Exposure: June 10, 2025, to June 27, 2026. Camera: Half-PVC tube, 40 mm focal length, Kodak Polimax.

Solargraph Anomaly

I can make a guess at whatever caused this “worm trail” in the image. My guess is that it’s a sun spot?
What caused it? Could a drop of rain on the pinhole have caused this?
