This is my first gaming pc in 20 years lol and the guy sold me the 5080 like the greatest thing for the money. Its paired with the Ryzen 7 9800x3d.

I’m trying to learn more about the 5080 and how to get the best without frying it.
Why are the ways to get the most of it for the games I play? Is it worth it certain upgrades or updates.
I love the idea of the DLSS 5 but I also heard some horror stories.
Looking for some advice from yall!

Im currently planning to buy a 5080.

However, Im stuck between 1440p and 4k.

I play games like COD, Forza and occassionally older story games, or if any good ones come out, Id play them.

Ideally i would want max graphics at a bare minimum of 100fps, if I do play 4k. However, I would wanna experience something higher, as it would be a 240hz monitor.

For those who have experienced 4k and 1440p, whats your take on the performance on both and is 4k oled paired with a 5080 worth it?

And is the difference between 1440p and 4k noticable?

For context I have a 34inch va 180hz monitor and a 5060.

No context, except for:
- “High-tier” / “premium” best RTX 5080?
- “Average” best RTX 5080?

Let me know your thoughts below, what really is the best in the market, and what is totally acceptable vs overkill/overrated?

Never buy the latest and greatest GPU, I have learned my lesson… the damn thing black screens after 1 hour playing Witcher 3 remastered or cyberpunk, or basically anything that requires high level GPU performance.

I am continuing to test, trying to fix it, but such a waste of time and money…. Hate it when expensive shit doesn’t work.

After the black screen and having to restart, I checked the reliability monitor and found it says there was a hardware issue resulting in a kernal error… I believe 1db or something like that.

Tried:

1. new nvidia drivers
2. rolling back to old drivers
3. switched from DP cable to HDMI 2.1 cable
4. stress tested using OCCT with no errors
5. set ram to EXPO 1… it was on EXPO 2
6. turned off g-sync and variable refresh
7. turned down monitor Hz from 240 to 120
8. checked cable between PSU and GPU with no clear damage or connection issues
9. it’s not getting to hot, 74C at max.

Next:

1. install new BIOS drivers for mother board
2. turn off integrated GPU
3. try a different monitor, 1080p (currently using ASUS ROG 4k)
4. throw it out the window ;)

Such a pain. Everything looks really pretty until it black screens, so at least I have that going for me.

I currently own a 9070XT I paid $404 after trade in from 7800XT when it was $599 msrp on challenger 9070XT. However should I upgrade to 5080 since my goal wants its the best BEST BEST GPU? Because since 5090s are over 5k maybe 5080 or a pre owned 4090. Looking something last longer and my goal is play nearly 160 fps or 150 fps at Forza horizon 6 native maxed out my cpu is Ryzen 7 9850X3D

got myself a 3090 founders for a birthday present on christmas of 2020. thinking of doing the same this year.

With the cost the 5090s are selling for it feels very compelling to sell up the 5090 zotak I have and switch for a 5080, i dont play anything competitive online other than trackmania which doesnt take much to run, so running DLSS at 3-4x is fine when gaming for me, ive got the LG 45 5k2k 165hz, im swithering with selling up and pocketing the difference, whos done it and how does it compare downgrading?

I am pairing my 5080 with 9800x3d, what monitor should I look at? I want to maximize for competitive source 2 games, i play that the most and I’ve only experienced 1080p and 240hz, so my experience is limited when it comes to considering 1440p or 4k for gaming.

A lot of people seem to say 360hz is not worth it which is most definitely is the case for casual games but since im buying the monitor for long term use, i might as well consider it.

Hi everyone, I recently bought a PC with. Rtx 5080 build. It’s in a 3 chamber case (Corsair air 5400 rsr argb) so the cpu AIO is in a separate chamber from the GPU and motherboard.

I’m getting temperatures of 60-69 degrees under 95-99% load. I was wondering is this okay? 69 degrees is when I play games with ray tracing. The main section of the case has 3 intake at the bottom and 3 exhaust at the top. This is where the GPU is.

I’m just worried as I play my games on ultra at 1440p and have a pretty aggressive fan curve but I sometimes feel like I’m going to fry my GPU in due time.

Is the 6 dedicated fans enough? And are my temperatures okay? Thank you very much and apologies if I sound like a total noob.

Hello. I need some help identifying the cause of an intermittent GPU crash.

About two weeks ago, while playing World of Warcraft, the game switched from gameplay to a cinematic. Both monitors suddenly went black, the GPU fans ramped up to 100%, and the PC had to be forcibly restarted. After that, I reinstalled the GPU drivers (version 610.88), and everything worked normally.

The exact same thing happened when I launched STALKER 2 for the first time. Both monitors went black again, the GPU fans went to 100%, and the only way to recover was to perform a hard reset. After restarting, STALKER 2 ran normally without any issues.

The same crash also happened once last year while launching Mafia: The Old Country, with exactly the same symptoms. So far, this has happened three times in total.

And today the same thing happened with first lauch Gears of War E-Day. But it only happend onec per game, mostly during the first launch. Only thing i can thing off is that the every time when this happend whas when my was idle for hours.

In Windows Reliability Monitor, I found a LiveKernelEvent 141, as well as two other errors, 1B8 and 1A8. I’m not sure how relevant these are.

The main problem is that I cannot reliably reproduce the crash, so I’m not sure whether the cause is the GPU, the drivers, or possibly the power supply. I don’t believe the motherboard, CPU, or RAM are likely to be responsible.

My system specifications are:
GPU: Palit RTX 5080 GameRock
CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D
RAM: 32 GB DDR5, EXPO enabled at 6000 MHz
Interestingly, after today’s crash, I played STALKER 2 again and then spent the rest of the day playing World of Warcraft without a single problem.

I’m therefore not sure how I can reproduce the issue or determine where exactly to start troubleshooting. My main concern is that the GPU itself might be defective

Can anyone confirm that the regular wireview pro 2 is compatible with the PNY triple fan OC RTX 5080?

Will it ever restock by this point or is it too late? I've been needing to go down in size and like the look but trying to find one used at a decent price is also really difficult.
