RTX 5080 Models – Which One for Best Cooling, Noise & Reliability?

I’m currently choosing an RTX 5080 and I’m looking for something high quality, long lasting, quiet, and with very good cooling. I don’t care about squeezing out a few extra FPS, I care more about stability, noise levels, thermals, and long-term reliability.

These are the models I’m considering (sorted by price in my country):

  • Inno3D RTX 5080 X3 / X3 OC — 1308€
  • Gigabyte RTX 5080 AERO OC SFF — 1311€
  • Palit RTX 5080 GamingPro — 1337–1372€
  • Gigabyte RTX 5080 WINDFORCE OC SFF — 1349€
  • Gainward RTX 5080 Phoenix — 1360–1372€
  • PNY RTX 5080 Triple Fan — 1371€
  • MSI RTX 5080 VENTUS 3X OC — 1372€
  • PNY RTX 5080 EPIC-X RGB — 1374–1406€
  • Zotac RTX 5080 SOLID CORE OC — 1426–1436€
  • Gigabyte RTX 5080 GAMING OC — 1444€
  • MSI RTX 5080 EXPERT OC — 1449€
  • Zotac RTX 5080 AMP Extreme INFINITY — 1449€
  • MSI RTX 5080 VENTUS 3X OC PLUS — 1450€

I specifically want to avoid issues like bad thermal paste/pump-out problems, poor hotspot temps after a year, rattling fans, etc.

I’m willing to pay ~100€ more if it actually gets me noticeably better cooling quality, lower noise, and better long-term reliability.

Which one would you personally choose and why? Especially interested in real-world experiences with temps, noise, and long-term behavior after several months of use.

3080TI was an amazing card, but so is the 5080. Very happy with the switch.

For what I was doing and playing the 12GB vram was getting very very close to filling up.

I started to notice I wasn’t getting full DLSS support and frame gen on certain games as well. Thought it was a good time (not price wise) to upgrade. I also have been playing VR, the 5080 man handles VR.

I will probably keep my 3080TI as it seems to be a semi-rare edition of the card.

If anyone else is out there in a similar position, the 5080 was absolutely worth it.

Currently have it overclocked 300+ on core 2000+ on memory, custom fan profile, runs around 62-63C on full load. For comparison my 3080TI pulled more wattage (around 390W+) and got up to 82-83C.

5080 is the goat.

Me pasé a Nvidia 🤝

He's trying his best

This is the closest I could get to a stock 5080/9800x3d score. Please remove if violates rule #1. There's not much of a subreddit for this card.

They called me a madman

They said it was impossible, to match a 4090 with my 9070 XT, they called me a madman… yet here we are all the same.

448.9 watts, +5mv to gfx

I did get one run over 74 fps, but I forgot to take a picture, so it’s up to you to believe me, regardless it’s air cooled and the ambient temp is 83 with a daily high around 90+ so im done until the AC gets turned on (yes I live with my parents, unfortunately, grateful tho)

Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
GPU: XFX Mercury RX 9070 XT White (Samsung unfortunately)
Mobo: ASUS ROG Strix B650-A
RAM: Klevv Cras V RGB White SK Hynix A-Die 6000MTs CL30-36-36-76
PSU: Corsair RM1000X 2024
SSD: WD_Black SN850X 1tb
Case: Corsair Air 5400
CPU cooler: Corsair icue-link Titan 360 RGB

9070XT to 5080?

Hello, looking for some thoughts on whether it's worth making the switch. I originally bought my 9070XT before an unplanned upgrade to 4K, and although it looks amazing, I've not been too happy about the performance since. I was using a 3060Ti before this, and shortly the 9070XT at 1440p.

I've also had plenty of driver timeouts to the point I need to restart my PC or even reinstall the drivers entirely. So, some stability would be nice.

Will the 5080 provide enough of a performance uplift? Especially with RT, FG and all of the other features that NVIDIA's doing better, which I'm realising I would actually enjoy using?

Lowest price I can get one for looks to be about £1000.

Direct x error OC detected

Had this error twice now in the past week. I don't have a crazy OC. 2k memory and 350 core. I have been running this OC for a while now. Should I scale it back a little? Warzone is the game it's happening in.

Horizon 6 4k performance

Bought Horizon 6 today but I noticed I’m just not getting the performance I want for now. No matter what I do I just cant get it higher then 60-65 fps with certain times dropping down to as low in the 50’s. Lowering settings doesn’t help all that much. Same for dlss and fg. Doesn’t matter if I choose quality or ultra performance, or put on 2x FG.

Anyone know what might be wrong? Anything I’m missing?
