For those of you with pr have owned L320s...

What would you say is the most trouble issue. Also how long have you ever gone without requiring a mechanical repair?

Help with coolant upgrade

Hi all, I finally felt a slight coolant leak when I did a 1300mile road trip on my 2015 Range Rover Supercharged. I carried some coolant as I had to fill before I start. Looks like its leaking from the plastic hose outlet from cylinder heads to the heater. I got the supercharger and all removed and all of the things I am about to swap, except the thermostat housing. I am trying to get the thermostat housing off but its hard to get it separated from the plastic piece between the radiator hose and the thermostat housing. Amy ideas on how to get it removed. Also I am not getting OEM ones(except the gaskets, seals and washers) as landrover is still selling some of them in plastic.

The other thing I want to ask is the PCV system leaking oil. Is it common and what is the fix? Complete valve cover replacement?

Auto lights or wipers doing what they want? Alarm going off randomly? Here's a fix..

As the title; My alarm started to go off randomly for a couple of nights, then stopped, then started again. It got to the point where I couldn't lock my car.. Diagnostics was showing a faulty BCM but as I needed the car, taking it out and sending it off for repair wasn't an option.. It then it cured its self.

Fast forward a month and it was doing the same again but with the autolights coming on and off sporadically in the daylight, and the auto wipers doing the same.

Now, four CAN wires that are tucked away in the main loom are held together, from factory, by tape. These come apart/corroded and create the issues mentioned above.

Simply remove the seat, and the module housing underneath (leave the cables attached to the module), pull back the carpet and the tread plate, find the three 'red with orange trace'wires from the front of the loom and join these together in one end of a crimp, then attach the single 'red with orange trace' to the other end of the crimp.

Carried out on a 2012 L322

Job jobbed. Hope this is of use to someone because it drove me fucking nuts.

Just picked up this clean L494 Sport spec. Am I sitting on a future classic or a financial death sentence?

Finally pulled the trigger on this silver right-hand drive setup. The lines, black roof contrast, and overall road presence still look sharper than most brand-new SUVs on the market, in my opinion. That being said, my anxiety is through the roof. Half the community swears the L494 is the peak modern chassis, and the other half makes it sound like a ticking time bomb waiting to snap a crankshaft, blow a turbo, or collapse its air suspension on the motorway. Be honest with me: if I follow a strict 5k-mile oil change schedule and baby the engine, can I actually daily this thing reliably, or should I start pre-booking a flatbed tow truck right now? Let's hear the real ownership truth.

Urgent help with my velar (rattling + smoke)

Drove my velar (180d 2018) about 100miles journey, at the end started hearing rattling noise, parked the car and left it for 5 days (was abroad). Came back to the same noise but had to drive it back the 100 miles to get back home yesterday. Woke up today to check and found smoke coming out of the engine as shown in the video.

I already changed the turbo and cambelt on this car once. Mileage is ONLY 36k which is crazy for all this to happen.

Problem now is I have to drive the car from Liverpool to London on Friday evening, have no choice. So need to know what this issue might be and find a mechanic here (in Belfast) to repair asap. What could be the issue guys? (Car always have a diesel like smell)

My research says oil leakage and possible heat shield movement?

EDIT: THERE IS NO OIL IN THE CAR! I was advised if that is the case then it means the engine is pressurised! Don’t even know what that means.

EDIT: If anyone knows a mechanic who can work on it in Belfast asap please let me know

2016-2018 RR sports realistic mileage expectations

Looking at purchasing a used 2016-2018 RR sport as a runaround car for my wife.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202511077742437?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=ios-app

Something like the above. Will be paying cash

Realistically what mileage would be stupid to buy above and expect to get much further usage out of. Will drive 6-7000 miles/year. Can I get away with buying one at 90k and pushing it until 130k or am I being naive?

Only owned BMW prior so need expertise please, TIA

L405 Thoughts

Hello all!

I am really thinking about pulling the trigger soon on an L405. The value is amazing on the used market and I always dreamed of owning one.

I have specifically been looking at the supercharged v6 power train and my research has told me to swap out the cooling lines for the metal if it doesn’t have it and it is a reasonably solid ride for longevity.

I’m currently in a w212 Mercedes Benz E350 and buy my cars based off of proven long term reliability. I maintain my own vehicles.

How has ownership been with the supercharged v6 L405 and any high mileage owners feel free to let me know how it’s has treated you!

Is there a specific year I should look for? I’m not scared of higher mileage especially if maintenance records are supported. I would also call any dealerships/shops that did the work for their experience with the particular car before I bought.

I truly appreciate any input, thanks!

Question About 2026 P400 SE LWB

UPDATE: The tech said the tire pressure was never dropped from being transported on the 18 wheeler. Apparently they set it very high during transport. I'll let you know once I pick it up if the issue is resolved. High tire pressure makes sense for the resonant sound.

We test drove two different P400 LWB and the inside was very quiet. The exact model the wife wanted showed up on a truck so we bought it since we knew this was what she wanted. They get the car ready and we pick it up after it goes through all of the initial setup the techs do.

On the drive home the wife calls and says "is there something different about the one we bought? This one is really noisy and I can hear a lot of road noise"

I drive it and clearly at 40mph I start to hear a droning sound, almost like a wheel bearing is going out or just excessive road noise in a base model car like a Kia or Nissan. Basically the opposite of the models we drove.

The techs have it and are diagnosing it but their initial reaction is nothing is wrong but are still looking into it.

Anyone know what could cause this particular model to be so loud on the inside?

Engine issues HELP

Chasing cylinder 1 and 3 misfire on a 2017 supercharged V6 . Vehicle starts and runs fine until it idles down and goes into the maintain idle settings and that is when the codes start rolling and it struggles to stay running / idle . We have replaced coil packs , plugs ,plug wires, O2 sensors, and now injectors . Issue has not changed . It appears to be dumping fuel into the motor ( running rich ) which led us to injectors . I’m at a total loss as is the top rang/ jag mechanic here. Vehicle is a 17 Fpace with 50k miles . Very well kept no issues ultimately a nice vehicle but is now a lot rock . Has anyone seen this in the supercharged V6 if so what was it …. I’m leaning towards electrical / ECU but that is not my speciality HELP … vehicle still has a note on it so it’s being paid for and leaves no transportation . Really a rough spot

1999 P38

Looking for input. I don’t know much of anything at all about this type of vehicle and am not very mechanically inclined.

My mom and dad purchased a 1 owner 1999 P38 4.6L with about 15k original miles back in 2015. It was my mom’s primary means of transportation for a few years before her passing. My stepdad has kept it but it’s been his secondary vehicle.

Recently the heater core went bad and the repair cost more than he’s willing to spend so it’s been sitting for a few months.

I jokingly mentioned taking it off his hands and he told me I could have it…for FREE. It has a tad over 40k miles with the only known issues being a dead battery and heater core. Understanding I cannot use the heat without replacing the heater core (non issue as I have a reliable daily driver), is there a scenario in which I regret this acquisition?

Honest feedback appreciated!!

2019 V8SC. Dream car acquired

(The ex, 2014 RR V6 gave out @140k)

I am a happy man. Purchased this classy beast for just under $40k w 36.5k total miles driven. I just had to wrap it immediately after purchase…you can’t beat that gleaming santorini black. Thing flies as well, the V8 is a monster, my gosh.

I appreciate the 2019 infotainment, Enough tech that actually looks good unlike the L460 with the cheap looking tablet interior. Exterior wise JLR should go back to the boxier body style as well come 2030. I truly don’t think you can beat the exterior look of a post-facelift L405.

Super happy with the purchase versus a more expensive, brand new (non Range Rover) car with half of the look at the end of the day.

Velar P400 HSE —> Sport P360/400?

Unfortunately facing trading in my Velar P400 HSE for a larger SUV within the year here.

My Velar HSE is perfect. Perfect spec, perfect tri screen PIVI setup, metal speaker covers, massage seats, extended Windsor leather with contrast stitch, and Velar styling my god a Velar on 22s is one of the most beautiful things you ever will see.

Unfortunately I will miss all of these things if I get a Sport P360 or P400 which is what I’m looking for. It is ok— the depreciation tax savings SHOULD outweigh my sentimental attachment to why I bought a rare P400 HSE Velar in the first place.

Concerns:

P360 engine not enough power— will i notice this? My Velar has incredible pickup. But is lighter and smaller.

2023 build quality— what signs should I look for in this model year? I remember something about wind noise with these.

Pros:

Help me! Other than tax savings, I’d be very happy driving my Velar for years! I picked this specific model for a reason.

I’m not an ego “I have a bigger RR” person either, so it being a Sport does not matter to me. I just like that it’s heavier to qualify!

Bigger seats— I’ve sat in the new sport, the seats are heavenly.
