Please make sure not to leave behind anything in your car.

There’s been bunch on break- ins in the Aspen Hill area, mostly targeting cars that had things or items left behind.

Why are the gas stations off Rockville Pike in the western part of Rockville the cheapest in all of southern MD?

I understand why they are cheap. I'm curious if anybody knows why they are the cheapest in all of southern MD.

Indie-pop favorites Cults will headline Saturday night at SilverVox Film & Music Festival

*** SATURDAY JUNE 20th

New York's CULTS have spent fifteen years perfecting the bittersweet anthem — songs that sound euphoric on the surface but cut you open underneath.

Formed in 2010 by Madeline Follin and Brian Oblivion while both were students in New York City, the duo broke through almost immediately with their viral debut "Go Outside," earning both Best New Music honors from Pitchfork and a deal with Columbia Records quicker than most bands get a rehearsal space. Their self-titled debut landed in the top 50 albums of 2011 and launched them onto stages alongside Pixies and Vampire Weekend.

What followed was a decade of fearless evolution, resulting in five studio albums that never sounded like the same band twice. Their 2022 TikTok breakout "Gilded Lily" introduced them to an entirely new generation, while their 2024 album To the Ghosts is among the most emotionally precise records of their career.

Live, CULTS bring a full band and a sound that is bigger, louder, and more alive than anything their recordings suggest, while Follin commands the stage with a presence that stops rooms cold.

CULTS’ Saturday night headlining slot sits within a music lineup with additional acts to be announced in the coming weeks, alongside 125 film premieres and screenings, in-person filmmaker Q&As, and the festival’s entertainment industry talks and panels programming.

Previously announced marquee programming includes “Strange Journey: The Story of Rocky Horror,” with director Linus O’Brien, son of Rocky Horror Show creator Richard O’Brien, attending for a live Q&A, followed by a presentation of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show”; Sundance 2026 and SXSW 2026 official selection “Joybubbles”; and SXSW 2026 premiere “Their Town,” directed by Katie Aselton and written by Mark Duplass; alongside a hometown homecoming concert from American Idol breakout star Rae Boyd.

Incredibly foul smell at Wegmans Rockville

Has anyone been to the Wegmans in Rockville in the last couple of days? The parking smells really foul, like there has been some sort of big sewage leak or spill. Wonder how the residents of the building are dealing with it

Loud Diners

Ate a a fancy steakhouse in Rockville. Smallish dining room. Mostly booths and tables for 2 or 4. Several tables were pushed together for a gathering of 12 20-30 somethings having a really loud and ruckus conversation including howling and laughing really loud. Couldn’t hear ourselves over their noise. Other tables were staring at them and obviously upset, too. Management wouldn’t say anything to them. Offered to move us to the far corner. But it’s a small dining room and the noise would have carried. I got up and asked them (angrily, to be honest) to tone it down. Several other guests thanked me. On the way out, a different server from ours thanked me, too. Just a terrible experience and a waste of $$$$.

Roofing company with adjuster?

I had some shingles that got removed due to snow last time.

Opened a claim with all state. Their adjuster said it will only cost $500+ to replace 11 shingles which is absolutely baloney since my townhouse is 4 stories high and has a ver steep pitch. No way that would cover it.

Been doing a back and forth with these guys for months ( original estimate from thier adjuster was $400 for repair. WTH)

Does anyone have a roofing company with a good adjuster to talk to these guys?

OB Recommendations

Hi everyone! I just found out I’m pregnant and am currently looking for an OB.

We have United Healthcare insurance, and I’m hoping to deliver at Shady Grove Hospital. We live in Bethesda, but are open to Bethesda, Rockville, Potomac, or nearby areas.

I’m still learning how all of this works, so I’m not sure if I need to find a doctor specifically affiliated with Shady Grove or if there are certain practices I should be looking into. Any recommendations, advice, or experiences would be so appreciated!

Thank you so much in advance🤍

Nail Salon Recommendations

Hi! I’m new to Rockville. My old salon, in Northern Virginia, is too far to drive to monthly which is quite tragic because I loved my nail tech and the entire salon. In my research, I was fairly surprised at the cost differences in Rockville vs where I used to go, with everything in Rockville being quite a bit more. I would get a gel x full set for $65 or a refill for $55. Is there anything in Rockville that runs a similar cost?

New "Renters United" Issue: Dishonest arguments, getting affordable housing, and who owns your building?

The May/June edition of "Renters United" is here! It's Rockville Renters United's community newsletter by Rockville renters for our community. It covers topics from how your neighbors are organizing their buildings to how we fight for stronger renter's rights.

In this issue: Foes of rent stabilization raise dishonest arguments, housing expert says; Realtor blames developer greed for County’s lack of affordable housing; Who Owns My Building?: BLVD Ansel, BLVD Forty-Four and The Reed; NO Rent Stabilization = MORE Evictions; ?? Did you know ??

Foes of rent stabilization raise dishonest arguments, housing expert says

>Opponents of rent stabilization are making dishonest arguments, according to an expert on housing law and policy.

>In a recent paper in the Washington University Law Review, Prof. Brandon Weiss charges foes of rent stabilization:

>Falsely claim rent stabilization is identical to crude rent control laws enacted in U.S. cities in the mid-1900s. Base their arguments on abstract economic theory rather than real-world experience.

>Weiss says modern-day rent stabilization laws are not “silver bullets” or a “one-size-fits-all” solution to shortages of affordable housing. However, they have proved effective at keeping more people securely housed for longer periods of time when combined with other land-use reforms aimed at increasing access to affordable housing. Such reforms include streamlined construction permitting for developers, tax credits and other financial supports for buyers and renters, changes to restrictive zoning laws and other polices to encourage new development.

>But without rent stabilization, none of those reforms protect tenants from losing their homes, Weiss argues

Realtor blames developer greed for County’s lack of affordable housing

>Developers are building homes for the wealthy and leaving other county residents without affordable shelter, a local realtor complains.

>“It’s stupid to build communities that only the top 20% can access while ignoring the other 80%,” says Fernando Herboso, managing broker for Samson Properties in Gaithersburg. “We’re making a catastrophic mistake.” Herboso oversees 400 agents and has 25 years’ experience in Montgomery County real estate.

>“Every week I watch another ‘luxury community’ break ground,” he continues. “We build $600,000 townhomes…(then) scratch our heads wondering why teachers, nurses, firefighters and young professionals are fleeing to Pennsylvania and West Virginia.”

Who owns my building?: BLVD Ansel, BLVD Forty-Four, and The Reed

>Comstock Holding Companies (CHC) is a powerhouse in the DC Metro region: fast-growing, and with far deeper pockets than may first appear.

>It’s $65 million in total assets barely cast a shadow in the high-rolling world of real estate. But CHC wasn’t created to own real property. It was created to manage property owned by its
principal investors. In return for providing a full suite of services—parking, maintenance, building and financial management— CHC collects rent and fees from the residential
and commercial tenants. That’s how it makes money.

> The vast majority of assets belong to Comstock Partners, a $5.6 billion private equity company owned by Christopher Clemente, CHC’s CEO, and his father-in-law Dwight Schar. They buy and develop properties, then sign long-term, fee-for-service contracts (on very favorable terms) guaranteeing CHC — which is 59% owned by Clemente and Schar—steady flows of cash with minimal risk and no debt.

Out of state title transfer in Maryland question

Hi everyone! I recently moved to Maryland and went to the MVA to transfer my out of state title last week. They gave me a 30 day temporary registration and told me to finish the Maryland state inspection first, then come back to the MVA after that.

I already finished the state inspection, but now I’m kind of confused about what I’m supposed to do next. Do I just bring the inspection paperwork back to the MVA? Is there anything else I need to bring or update?

Has anyone been through this recently and knows what the next step is? Thank you!!

Best shop for a tire alignment around Rockville/Gaithersburg?

Hi Folks,

I just got a new set of tires at the Gaithersburg Costco, but since they don't handle wheel alignments, I need to take my car somewhere else.

Looking for recommendations. Thanks!

Thank You Rockville Community! (Update on fun events for young adults)

Hi!! I just wanted to say thank you to ALL of the people who have offered their own personal help, have offered their own business and ideas on how to continue this.

I knew other people felt this way but it has been such a big amount! I am currently organizing all of the info, trying to talk to those who reached out and messaging business to make the first event.
I know this was geared to 20 year old somethings, but as we grow I plan to make different events for different groups. They will all be fun regardless (:
I will continue posting my journey on this on Instagram (@sun.hostings), but will put out the next event here.

Thanks so much Rockville !

Fun events for 20 something’s in Rockville - Searching small businesses

Hi good morning ! My name is Ivana and I’ve lived in Rockville for almost four years.

I’m in my twenties and living in Rockville has been so amazing and beautiful, but I would like to do more activities in addition to go to happy hour, book club, run clubs etc. Don’t get me wrong, I love those so much! But I always compare it to the experience other 20 year olds have living in or around DC.

They experience community talent shows, eating contests, PowerPoint nights, game tournaments (geared to something all 20 year olds have played, like an Uno tournament! )

I am starting out very small. I have experience in hosting, but I want to document online what type of events I can do personally in hopes of working with a small business in Rockville to host to a bigger community here besides my immediate one.

Hopefully you can follow my journey on Instagram or TikTok at @sun.hostings ! Also hopefully to find a venue where if you are 20 something, we can all hang out and have fun!

Please let me know if you think of a small business in mind that is willing to let me use their space to host as I could build up a community and they could also build up customers as well.

Thank you!

Very good historical exhibit at Rockville library

There’s a poster exhibit that traces three lynchings in Montgomery county on display that discuss the context and aftermath of three Black men that were killed by lynch mobs in the 1800s. Worth a moment to read if you’re at the Rockville library

Montgomery county eliminates 692 itoc property tax credit impacting seniors and people with homes values less than 750k. Moco is for rich ppl

Montgomery county eliminates 692 itoc credit. The most impacted are people with home values less than 750 k. So hardworking ppl with less income and own homes are taxed more. Commercial and rental property owners can lobby and get incentives. This will impact all lower income and senior people disproportionately. https://bethesdamagazine.com/2026/05/15/county-council-budget-straw-approval/
