I made a daily MRT game — can you name the shortest route from Bugis to Orchard?

link to game: https://mrtle.lol

I built a simple MRT game for daily commuters — you get two stations and have to connect them in the fewest stops possible. The map gets populated as you guess the stations. Have a go!

After being scrapped in 1927, Trams are making a return to Singapore through the Greater Sentosa Master Plan.

SMRT does not seem to care about fixing rain leakage on their newest trains

Saw these shared online today and I remember similar videos circulating on social media before.

All if not most of those incidents captured the newest Alstom trains on the North South Line and East West Line.

Is this not a serious problem because it was one of the reasons why authorities did not want people drinking on the trains: wet, slippery floors due to spillages?

Fascinating alternative history MRT map if Singapore were still in Malaysia in the 21st century

5 differences that stand out:

  1. Colonial-era Anglicisations revert to original Malay place names. Fort Canning becomes Bukit Larangan. Redhill becomes Bukit Merah. Woodleigh becomes Bidadari. But the name of Pulau Belakang Mati (changed to Sentosa after independence) fades into history
  2. LKY’s Mandarinisation drive never happens. Nee Soon never becomes Yishun. Peck San Teng never becomes Bishan. Aukang never becomes Hougang
  3. Bahasa Melayu orthography follows peninsular Malaysia standards. Tanjong becomes Tanjung. Telok becomes Teluk. Bras becomes Beras. Sungei becomes Sungai. Ayer becomes Air. Kampong becomes Kampung
  4. Little India and Chinatown remain Kandang Kerbau and Kreta Ayer, no touristy rebrand
  5. MRT naturally integrates into Johor through NEL, NSL, TEL, JRL

If a male child was eligible for PR when young but did not take it (to avoid NS)

As an adult, it becomes extremely hard sometimes impossible to get PR later. Maybe that is why some people complain they born in Singapore study in Singapore whole life and their whole family in Singapore but cannot get PR after repeated tries. And they are going to be 30 years old.

Update: My SG bus app reached #59 on the App Store❤️

About two weeks ago, I shared my little SG bus app here (the original post is still on my profile if you’re curious 🤣). A lot of the feedback I received ended up becoming actual features—pinned bus services, UI improvements, live bus arrival indicators, MRT line status, and plenty of smaller fixes.

Thanks to all that feedback, the app even reached #59 on the App Store Travel charts at one point, ahead of many of the bus apps I’ve personally used for years, which feels surreal.

Thank you everyone for the feedback and support! If you’ve got more ideas, I’m still actively working on it before school starts in August. ❤️

When are we enforcing the PMA law?

Very brazen. Much annoying. The guy runs on the Roads. Yes, actual roads and tries to muscle in the crowd with this oversized PMA.

The CCL Signage Didn't Need to be Completely Redesigned

hi hi !!!

This is probably the millionth redesign you've seen in this subreddit, but I'm not here to propose something radical. It's clear that the common concensus among us is that the CCL signage had room for improvement, and I largely agree with this too. In my opinion, the original signage that was rolled out just needed some work to make it a decent design.

If you consider the strenghts of the first design, it had ✅️ clear indication of direction (clockwise and anticlockwise), ✅️ a nice visual flair to affirm the direction (though some might say it adds clutter). However, the main drawback was that it had ❎️ unclear indication of terminating or looping status. The "improved" design has pretty much the opposite characteristics of the old ones.

I figured that the natural step up was to combine the strengths of both designs. Ie: ✅️ clear indication of direction, and ✅️ clear indication of terminating or looping status. So I put together a quick mock-up of this in Powerpoint. Can this design be improved? Of course! As you can probably tell, its a really rough mock-up. I didn't want to spend too much time on something that realistically isn't going to be adopted. Nonetheless, I hope it gets my point across that there wasn't a need to radically redesign signage for the CCL.
