Hello! Can anyone recommend accommodation options for a solo female traveler in Siargao? Preferably near restaurants or beachfront areas. Thank youuu 😊
Is it possible to get circumcised as a tourist in Philippines, for example in Siargao. Would it be recommended or what's important to know about it?
I'm a student and my plan is to travel around the country for a longer period of time and I was thinking about getting it done there since it is really common there and cheaper than in my country. That's why I was curious if it's worth getting it done there. Thanks for any help or clinic recommendation.
To the Siargao community, in coordination with local law enforcement agencies, I'm currently establishing a secure pipeline to assist victims of sexual harassment and misconduct in Siargao who wish to pursue official legal action or investigation.

I’ll be arriving on Friday, May 22nd, around 8am but the hostel check-in time is at 2pm. Any light activities suggestions to kill my time before check-in? I’m traveling solo (M28, a bit fruity lol) and it will be my first time in the island. Thanks!
I’m planning to bring my foreign friends here, but I don’t want them ending up in random TikTok/Reels etc. videos posted by locals, since that’s become very common nowadays.
Hello I’ll be traveling again sa Siargao for the nth time around suggestion please where to stay🙂

Siargao has always felt different from the other islands for me. I first came for the surf and beaches, but what stayed with me were the slow mornings and the feeling that you never really need to rush.
Cloud 9 was easily one of my favorite spots in Siargao. Even if you don’t surf, just watching the waves and staying there during sunset already feels worth it.
For the locals, if you go back to the island, what will be the beach you go to again?
According to reports, a group of Israeli nationals allegedly destroyed CCTV cameras, threw rocks, and physically assaulted the café owners after seeing a pro-Palestinian flag displayed outside the establishment. The family, including their very young child, was reportedly present during the incident.
The owners were reportedly badly beaten. According to circulating information, the police and ambulance response reportedly took around 2-3 hours, although it remains unclear whether the incident may have been reported late to authorities.
Many are now calling for a proper investigation and for the safety of everyone on the island, regardless of nationality, beliefs, or political stance.
Of all subs on this website, i've never seen one so desperate on censoring to protect people who are completely ruining the harmony of the island. Locals are getting assaulted, abused, spat on, disrespected and you wont allow a space for discourse in dealing with this.
Stop being a C U Next Tuesday.
Is it me or are the surf “instructors” here only interested in teaching women?
Whenever I walk around with my wife she gets offered lessons first, board rental second. Whereas I only get offered just board rental.
Not only that but whenever we’ve had instructors (even apparently certified ones) we’ve noticed my wife getting better overall instruction.
It’s also weirdly difficult to get a certified instructor. I’ve messaged a few places and either get no reply or given 1 hours notice.
To top it off I’ve noticed so many of the “instructors” stealing waves from foreign surfers. Especially the male foreigners.
I read up on surf etiquette and watched videos about it. I generally stay out the way and I’m pretty sure I don’t push in. But it’s getting to the point where I feel like just going for whatever wave I want, regardless if there is a local instructor waiting for it or not.
Hi! We'll be going to siargao next week and booked a placed where there is no pool. :/ any recos where we can actually have a day use of a pool that's also consumable? :) looking for a nice place to spend the afternoon at least
I’ve been spending time in Siargao for a while now, and honestly, something feels different lately.
One thing that really worries me is seeing more and more tension between foreigners and locals — especially after what happened recently around Catangnan and Cartoon Bar involving Israeli tourists and the reactions that followed.
And before people jump immediately into extremes: this is not about nationality. At all.
This is about respect.
Siargao is not Dubai.
It is not Bali 2.0.
It is not a playground built for foreigners with money.
It is a real island with a real culture, real struggles, and local people who were here long before tourism arrived.
What shocks me sometimes is the attitude some foreigners bring:
arriving in a small island community and acting as if local people should adapt to THEM, their politics, their lifestyle, their behavior, their noise, their entitlement.
No.
When you travel — especially to places like the Philippines — you are a guest.
You do not own the island because you pay for a villa or cocktails.
And honestly, I think many travelers have forgotten that.
One of the things that made Siargao special was always the warmth and humility of local people. But tourism can destroy that balance very quickly when visitors stop respecting boundaries and start behaving like colonizers with surfboards and WiFi.
You can support whatever political ideas you want personally. That is your right.
But bringing division, arrogance, confrontation, or superiority into small local communities that already deal with enough problems is incredibly irresponsible.
Respect the locals.
Respect the culture.
Respect the island.
Otherwise places like Siargao will lose the soul that made people fall in love with them in the first place.
