What Greatness Looks Like on a Daily Basis

I just wanna share it here.

This simple scenario of young people in America asking pictures with Manny Pacquiao shows that he is the greatest athelete we've ever had.

What makes it cool is that those fans are black. If you're into boxing you'd know that the biggest critics of Pacman are black fans. It all started with the debate over who was better between him and Mayweather (the hood's GOAT). Fans from both sides started mocking the fighters with funny meme, Pinoy fans called floyd "gayweather" while they called manny "pacroid". It went on for years and turned into pure hatred from some fans. So seeing some young black fans taking pic with our champ looks pretty fun to watch.

How underwhelmed are you with the current Gilas program?

I wanted to post this in r/PBA but it won’t let me because of my karma score.

To anyone out of the loop, the current Gilas program is facing a multitude of issues:

  1. The team needs to win 6 straight games to qualify for the 2027 World Cup.

  2. A number of key players are unavailable, especially bigs like QMB (6'10) and Mike Phillipps (6'8).

  3. Our best homegrown player, Kai Sotto, is being a diva and refusing to play unless his insane wage demands are met.

  4. Our naturalized player, Brownlee, is 38 and coming off an injury.

  5. The Coach and his Staff are stubborn dinosaurs who refuse to consider other players and prefer the team to be Gilas Gin Kings.

Me, personally, I don’t have any confidence in the coaching staff and team management. Even if we qualify, it’s going to be 2019 World Cup all over again where our assess got handed to us—way worse than 2023.

The Hidilyn Diaz Effect - Team Philippines is currently ranked No. 1 on the medal tally on both youth and junior level at the ongoing Asian Youth & Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

My Honest Analysis of TLPH's Latest Announcement

The closing line of Team Liquid PH's (TLPH) latest video https://youtu.be/GDdcpLsvShk?si=gTR3SBBRTutnsqx_ - 'And to everyone else, doubt us' - feels like a manufactured victim mentality. First of all, their MSC 2026 run was a disaster and arguably their worst failure to date. How do you go from being defending MSC champions and 3-peat MPL PH champions to getting dethroned via back-to-back sweeps in the early rounds?

The issue isn't simply that they lost - nobody is invincible. The real issue is HOW TLPH lost. Let’s be fair: most of us had high hopes for them precisely because of their regional dominance and having the GOAT, KarlTzy, on the roster. What few saw coming prior to MSC 2026 was that other junglers in the tournament would outright outperform KarlTzy. Their match against Aurora seemed to shatter them mentally, which ultimately triggered a second sweep by an underdog team that didn't even reach the knockouts.

It raises a broader question: what is the real weight of domestic titles like a 3-peat or 5-peat if you can't carry that momentum onto the bigger international stage, as we saw with TLPH in M7 and MSC 2026? It's similar to why Kairi is often called the 'uncrowned king' - despite his MPL ID streak and MSC 2023 title, an M-World crown has eluded him, much like how Kelra held that title until M6.

That said, just because TLPH stumbled badly in MSC 2026 doesn't mean they aren't the favorites for MPL PH S18. I won't be doubting them heading into next season. Why? Because until local teams prove there are better junglers than KarlTzy within MPL PH, or better teams vs TLPH, it's far too early to count them out. Coming into MSC 2026, nobody doubted TLPH; they were top bets until an international shift occurred. Domestically, until proven otherwise, TLPH remains the team to beat.

Stop hiding behind a fabricated underdog story to deflect from accountability - nobody doubted your championship pedigree, we were simply embarrassed by your total collapse on the world stage. Nobody doubted you before MSC - you simply failed, got outplayed, and manufactured a victim complex to avoid facing the reality of your own collapse. And now coming MPL PH S18, I will not doubt you, unless what happened in MSC 2026 will happen again in MPL PH S18.

Chinese brand vs Nike

Nag laro ako this week ng basketball. So syempre maulan, ung court na nilaruan ko medyo may moist so madulas.

Whereas ung mga kasama ko, mostly mga kobe and other nike shoes almost all of them madulas. What are your thoughts on this?

Basketball shoes recommendation

For context, I stopped playing basketball as a hobby around early 2020 before magpandemic because nawalan na ako ng interest, wala din akong proper self confidence and yung court inside our subdivision ni-lock and may fee na to use, which is lame considering na free for use yon for the subdivision. In that time, my basketball shoes are the Nike Zoom Rize na regalo sakin ng father ko. I still have the shoes and minsan minsan lang maglaro pero never regularly. Now na natanggal na yung BOD and may new set na of BOD, the court was opened na and bumalik yung interest ko in playing back again. This time idgaf on what people will say, i will just play with confidence kahit di ako magaling.

Now my Nike Zoom Rize, pasira na siya. I am now looking to buy a new pair pero right now, I don’t have any idea on what shoes are good now and napapangitan na ako sa mga designs ng basketball shoes today unlike before (or tumatanda na siguro ako lol. 27M).

Right now, yung natitipuhan kong bilhin is the Believe That by Anthony Edwards. Can anyone recommend kung anong pwedeng basketball shoes for mainly outdoor use? Kahit any brand.

Edit: budget ko po is maximum of 6k.

No. 20 in the world and trained by the top 3 best in history. Malamang maging alamat 💪🏽

Naffeel na nya yung calm confidence na being a top player. Any day pwede na sila matalo sa yo. And that shows nung natalo na nya pati world number 3 at Olympic winners.

At dahil nasa likod nya si Nadal na makikinabang din pag tinuro nya lahat kay Alex, mas lumalaki ang chance na papunta na sya to become number one and truly be Alexandra the Great.

At dala pa nya lahat ng magugulo at makukulit na Pinoy na manonood tuwing laban anywhere in the world. Home court advantage sya anywhere in the world. Laking bagay nun for her confidence; and distraction sa kalaban.

Dati mukang hindi pa apparent na pwede sya at this level of tennis. Pero ngayon, lumalabas ang talent nya talaga. Lalong nakaka-believe na one day magiging ka-level na nya si Pacquiao as a world-class athlete.

Amazing job on her.

And with Pinoys behind you Alex... TO THE MOON!

The Filipino LeBron James Nobody in America Has Seen Yet: Francis Lopez

Watching his transition from Overtime Elite to UP, and now playing as an import in the B.League, got me thinking about his actual development trajectory...

Sa athleticism, walang duda cheat code talaga. 6'5", 42-inch vertical leap, panalo sa open court, and he can legitimately switch on defense. Even against experienced pros in Japan, mataas pa rin finishing rate niya inside the arc (around 55%)

Pero every time the game slows down into half-court sets, halata pa rin yung same core issues:

  • Tira sa labas: Sitting under 30% pa rin from 3PT range. Iniiwan lang talaga siya ng defenders on the perimeter para mag-clog sa paint!!!
  • Handle / Self-creation: Nahihirapan pa rin siya mag-create ng sariling tira off the bounce kapag naka-set na ang depensa :/

At this stage, tingin niyo may chance pa ba talaga siya makakuha ng NBA Summer League or G-League spot down the line?? Or is his realistic peak becoming an elite, high-energy 3-and-D wing for Gilas? The LeBron comparisons are a lot.
