Rizal Memorial “Blocked” dates being booked

How is it possible that these dates—tagged on the web site as “Blocked”—are apparently booked as you can see on Reclub?

Are these rescheduled bookings? Or are these signs of corruption?

Beginner looking for advice on my first racket 🎾

Hi! Newbie to tennis here, with around 3 coaching sessions pa lang. My coach pushed me to join the intermediate class this Sunday, so I was hoping to get some practice in on my own before then.

I'm thinking of getting the Adult Tennis Racket Kuikma Easy from Decathlon since it's pretty affordable and I don't want to break the bank while I'm still figuring out if I'll stick with tennis. I'm also pretty petite and I've noticed that I tend to prefer lighter rackets during practice.

I'm not really sure where to start when it comes to buying my first racket though hahaha

  • Is the Kuikma Easy a decent racket for a beginner?
  • How do I figure out what grip size I should get?
  • Does Decathlon string it for you when you buy it, or does it come already strung?
  • Do I need to worry about the grip right away, or can I just use whatever comes with the racket?
  • How many balls should I get if I'm mostly just practicing on my own?

I'm trying to keep the racket + balls around ₱2k max for now.

Sorry for all the questions! Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you so muchhh!

1 year since picking up a racket

Started playing tennis less than a year ago back in Manila on a shell court. Patience is the key talaga sa tennis to gain some confidence sa court. No UTR level yet but can hit and rally decently naman. Best decision ever 😅
Hitting from Melbourne!

A free alternative to Reclub for running open plays and tournaments

I heard more and more complaints about Reclub cost and limitations so I launched an app named SliceWin a year ago for people to run open play and tournaments easily.

It’s getting quite popular in the Philippines (check the map in the last picture!) so I thought it would be useful to share it here.

Here's what is does :

  • All formats : Knockout, Rotations (race to 6, race to 4 etc.), team tournament, singles or doubles, and it adapts to the number of courts.
  • Time saved for hosts : Bracket generation, fair rotations, registrations, and leaderboards are all automated, saving organizers a ton of time.
  • Better experience for players : Players are not forced to install the app to play. Hosts can manually add players and manage scores for them. If a player decides to download the app later, the host can just link their profile. Once they install the app, players can self-report their scores, upload photos, track leaderboard and upcoming events.
  • Player Tracking: It also offers an Elo-style ranking system that tracks all your matches, so you can actually see your progress over time.

It’s super easy to set up your club or community to start making your events more pro and competitive!

It is free on both the App Store and Google Play :

Where to buy tennis racquets near Qizhong Tennis Center / Minhang District in Shanghai?

Hi everyone,

I'll be visiting Shanghai near the Qizhong Forest Sports City Arena (Minhang District) around the Shanghai Masters tournament, and I'm looking to buy a tennis racquet while I'm there.

Could anyone recommend good tennis shops or sports outlets in or near the Minhang District (or easily accessible via Metro Line 5 / Line 1)?

  • What I'm looking for: Authentic brand-name racquets (Wilson, Babolat, Head, Yonex, etc.).
  • Preference: Stores with professional stringing services, or big sports malls/outlets nearby.
  • Location: Near Minhang / Qizhong area or central Shanghai along the main metro lines heading to the stadium.

Racket Reco for Single Backhand

Hi. I’m a female playing with single backhand, currently using Babolat Pure Drive 285g. It’s a power racket with decent spin. But now I’m looking for rackets with more control and feel.

Recommendations are appreciated 🙂

Is a Babolat Pure Strike 1st Gen still worth buying in 2026, or should I just buy new?

Hi everyone! Beginner here, currently looking for my first tennis racket. I found this Babolat Pure Strike 1st Gen (100 sq in, 290g, 16x19, Grip 2) for ₱3,000 (~$52), condition is listed as 8/10.

I know it’s an older model, so I’m wondering if it’s still worth buying today or if I should just spend more on a newer racket.

I’m also considering a newer Babolat Pure Aero Team Gen9 (285g), but it’s around ₱12,700 (~$220). My goal is to buy a racket that I can use for a long time and hopefully not have to upgrade again, so I’m really trying to maximize my first racket purchase.

For those familiar with the Pure Strike 1st Gen, would you still recommend it in 2026? And if you were in my position, would you go for the used Pure Strike or buy a brand-new racket?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you po 🎾

Newbie Hell with Tennis Strings

(30/M) I’m already about 6 tennis lessons in just to give you context and I just bought a 2nd hand Wilson Blade 100L v9 (for 8k this is a good deal alr right??) and it was listed as 9/10 condition.

Now I’m wondering if I should already have it restrung because I’ve been asking ChatGPT for advice and it mentioned that it strongly recommends me to buy new strings agad not because the old strings are worn out but so I can have a proper baseline because I basically know nothing about these old strings sa racket (seller can’t be contacted na)

What do you guys think? And do you have any recommendation (I prefer Wilson brands if ever because I want to have consistency sa equipment and apparel ko 😭🤣) also about tension or whatever needs to be considered pa.

EDIT: HELP YAN NOT HELL OMG

Yonex Mall Release

Hi! New to Tennis, looking to get an Ezone Espresso at release date, do they release them at their mall stores? Asked a few days ago and the staff don’t seem to have a clue about anything. I’m still wary of the people selling sa Marketplace bc I don’t have an idea which are legit or not.

Just wondering bc Wilson has updated stock and proper releases.

Clash 100 V3 hurts my hand, but Pure Aero doesn't?

Hey everyone, beginner here.

I've been using a Wilson Clash 100 V3 with Luxilon Element 1.25 @ 50 lbs. Whenever I play with it, the area between my thumb and index finger starts to hurt. I also notice that the ball tends to launch a lot, even when I'm not swinging that hard.

What confuses me is that the Clash is supposed to be one of the most comfortable rackets out there.

Recently, I borrowed a friend's Pure Aero with Dunlop Black Widow @ 55 lbs and played with it for a bit. Surprisingly, I had no pain at all and actually felt more comfortable hitting with it.

Both rackets are Grip 2, so I don't think grip size is the issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a Clash?

Also, based on what I'm experiencing:

  1. What would you change first in my setup?
  2. Is it possible to make the Clash work for me, and if so, what strings, tension, or other changes would you recommend?
  3. Or is it possible that the Clash just isn't the right racket for me, even though it's considered very arm-friendly?

Thanks!

Is now the right time to start playing again?

Hello guys! A little background about myself, I’m a 33 y/o that used to play tennis casually. I started playing when I was in High School, had lessons and played in local junior tournaments in our province. During college I played quite infrequently but had it as my PE for a semester. After that I barely touched my racket as I focused my time on other hobbies (video games, weightlifting, and diving).

Flash forward 15 years, I’m no based in Manila and living a pretty sedentary lifestyle. I’ve let go of myself and gained 10kgs in a few months, due to a plethora of things. I was thinking of increasing my cardio, as well as meet new people and expand my social circle.

Since the last time I played sa province pa and I don’t know any clubs sa metro. I looked online for some resources, surprisingly there seems to be tension against newbies and the newer players. Though I am happy that there are apps to connect with other players like Reclub, though from what I’ve read these are usually overpriced?

Anyway, is now a good time to start again or should I wait for a couple of months in hopes that sessions won’t be overpriced after the “hype”?. Or should I just try another sport 🤣?

ASICS Gel Resolution X for Women with Flat Feet & Mild Overpronation — Worth It?

Anyone here with flat feet + mild overpronation tried the ASICS Gel Resolution X?

Do you recommend it for tennis?

I usually wear Nike US Women's 9.5 (JP 26.0), but l've heard ASICS runs narrower.

Should I stick with JP 26.0 or size up to JP 26.5 for comfort/insoles?

Would love to hear your experiences!

Budget tennis shoes recommendations

For context, my PE this sem is tennis. Our coach told us that we should wear tennis shoes during class because regular running shoes can injure us. My budget is just 3k because I am just a beginner and I don’t wanna spend anything more than that. Thank youu in advance
