First Build
Assembled my first EVER Warhammer model today. I’m going to paint them all together after they’re built and show progress. Super excited!!
Big fan of 4 man sekhs, worth doubling up?
See title. I used 4 man Sekhetar Robots the other day, and I really liked the way I could project a real early game threat (at least versus my opponent who misjudged them). Free Overwatch was great! Now I'm wondering about doubling up and going 2x4.
Anyone tried it? What's your opinion?
Hoping to get my First Win
I will have I think my 9th game this coming weekend and I am really hoping to get a win. My opponent will likely run Deathguard or Necrons with a possibility for Tau.
He really likes to run vehicles so he either will use a ton of drones in dg or a bunch of battlesuits for tau. In Necrons it is mostly just infantry and then the Ctan.
I only have around 3k total of Tsons and the only stuff not in this list is Magnus and 15 rubrics + some leaders.
I wanted to bring all my big hitters but figured it would be unwise to drop all my scoring units to bring in Magnus.
So I am fairly confident with this list, the only thing I am unsure of is I should put my Screamers as a 6 man or 2 3 mans.

Thousand Sons progress 20 Tzaangors
Ended up doing the trim with an AK 1301 marker. Still needs some work but happy with the results.
Looking to expand
I am looking to expand my army. I started with the battleforce that came with the sehkitar robots. I ended getting some tzaangors and a box of rubrics on top of that. I recently saw at a lgs the other battleforce that has the MVB. Are these good to combine?
Mutalith Vortex Rider
Since I first saw the kit, I knew I had to kitbash it, I saw a similar idea on a tyrannid a while back.
Rubric color scheme.
I now play fully thousand sons. But I started with a chaos undivided so these guys were painted in black legion.
I had a friend paint these. And he killed it!

Got these sprues for free, what are they?
Got told they were Tzaangors, but they don't look like any of the Tzaangor sprues I've seen.
Is grand coven bad?
Hello, I am pretty new to the warhammer game and witha friend we have been dying to try it for some while. I havent played yet and I dont know so much about the rules, but I know a little, so I started investigating what to do and how to play thousand sons, because I find them awesome and I love their lore and I also love Tzeench and the rubric marines. I adore it. But when I saw every recommendation, it said that grand coven was the best detatchment rule, but when I read it for myself I found it was not really that good. At least to me. I found that rubricae phalanx was better and had more buffs, but I also want to understand fully why everyone puts grand coven as their detachment rule, and I also dont want to always be conditioned to use rubrics as my main everytime, and use more of the weird tzaangors and daemon princes.
If someone could please explain it, or give me some advice, I would appreciate it really much.
Thanks!
How will the change to flying models affect our army? Big improvement? Or small QoL?
11th Edition Detachments
Hello sorcerers. Now that we’ve seen plenty of the new detachment releases for other chaos armies, what are we thinking we’ll see for our 3 new detachments? Presumably we’ll get a Hexwarp Thrallband rework, but what about the other 2? Personally, I’m hoping we get a detachment for our Demon Princes!
Thousand Sons STURMTIGER ( Vindicator 😁 )
“Some machines become legends. Others simply refuse to die.”
One of my favorite things about building custom 40k lore is taking something that absolutely does not belong in the setting… and then making it fit perfectly.
That’s how Kurt Vogel and the “Iron Ram” were born.
Kurt was an ordinary German mechanic and Sturmtiger crewman during World War II. No chosen one. No legendary hero. Just a man who understood engines, steel and ammunition.
During fighting in a ruined city, his vehicle — Gertrud — was literally torn out of reality by the Synod of Je’Llov, a cabal of Thousand Sons sorcerers who travel through time, narrative and the warp in search of artifacts… and interesting things.
The problem was:
the sorcerers wanted the machine.
They didn’t notice there was still a man inside.
And so Kurt arrived on Je’Llov — a desert world of purple skies, floating islands and local Tzaangor tribes who worshipped the Synod’s sorcerers almost like demigods.
For over a thousand years:
- he barely aged,
- lived inside his workshop,
- repaired machines,
- smoked cigarettes,
- cursed in German,
- and kept Gertrud running.
The best part?
The Synod mostly left him alone.
The sorcerers were busy with their own wars and rituals. The Tzaangors, meanwhile, quickly grew fond of the “old man of the steel ram.”
Eventually the Synod began taking Tzaangors to war as light infantry and vehicle crews. And that is when the “Iron Ram” rolled onto the battlefields of the 41st millennium.
Imagine a Sturmtiger:
- covered in flaking Thousand Sons blue paint,
- hand-painted chaos symbols made by beastmen,
- bolters welded onto ancient armor,
- a Tzaangor with a Fatecaster Greatbow sticking out of the hatch,
- and Kurt sitting inside with a cigarette, still trying to understand why anything in this galaxy works at all.
My favorite part, though, is that Kurt never truly became a heretic.
He does not worship Chaos.
He does not love the Synod.
He does not seek power.
He simply… lives there now.
And somehow that makes him feel more human than most characters in 40k 😄

Could this be us? Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but the 9 seems oddly specific. Maybe AOS?
64x64 Pixel art Rubric Marine
Hi everone,
I drew a Rubric Marine's helmet in 64x64 pixel art. Thousand Sons is my main army and I hope I did it justice.
Feedback is appreciated!
