I’d been looking for a reasonably priced scale that gave real time flow rate. So when I saw this scale drop with a promotional 20% off, I jumped on it.
My coffee ending volumes with my pour overs seemed off so I checked the scale vs my old scale. Sure enough, the Timemore is way off. I don’t have a calibration weight to say how much but I attached a video to demonstrate. Moving the server slightly around the scale displays significantly different results. This makes the scale completely unusable. I emailed Timemore about it today and will update with their response.
Just a quick warning for anyone considering this scale.
Hi, I want to know your experiences with this grinder. Is the Pro handle worth 15€ more than the normal c5 esp? Also do you recommend this grinder for espresso or is it too tiring after a few weeks?
Hi everyone! I’m looking for advice on which settings to use for espresso machines. I’ve been testing around 0.7.0, but I’d like to know if that’s close to what other users use.
The first look on the upcoming flagship coffee grinder from Timemore - the Chestnut S5 hand grinder. The last two pics compare the new Chestnut S5 (left) with the current Chestnut S3 (right), and their burrs size.
Source of photos: Instagram posts here and here - more pics there, please visit them and check it out. If you are on the Insta, please appreciate and like the work of the original photographer. Many thanks to them!
The new S5 has a 48 mm burrs (outer burr diameter), while the current S3 has 42 mm burrs, and apparently, there might be even bigger difference in the inner conical burr diameter: the S3 has a 31 mm inner burr, while the S5 could be 40 mm or more, based on the photo.
All pics seem to be Black & White, as the Timemore logo on the grinder body appears silver, while in reality, its gold in color on the S3.
When changing from pour over back to espresso grind I get chirping on my 078S. I’ve only had it for about a month but don’t know if this’ll normal or if I need to check my burrs? The chirping does stop once o get it down to my grind size.
I'm retiring my now 3-year old Timemore C2 next week, so dropping a review for anyone still looking to buy this guy in 2026.
The C2 has been a treat so far, and I would actually have continued using it as I got some replacement burrs. However these fit the new model, not my older one, and so I've finally decided to shift to the KinGrinder K6
Everything I love about C2:
It was one of the few grinder options readily available on Amazon in India for a decent budget of 70 dollars back in 2023
Grind factor, yes the microns per click are a little high at 80 per click, but trust me, that's just fine. If you're just just 1-3 years into brewing, still extremely sufficient. It's easy to dial in for new roasts I pick up and delivers very good clarity. I've brewed at a few homebrew events with this, and it's delivered.
Versaility, while it's absolutely useless for espresso, I've brewed moka pot to some success with this, it can go very fine. Although be ready for an arm workout.
Sturdy: I must have at least dropped it 20 times, and it's travelled a lot, not a single scratch on it.
Con:
Age hits it. At the 2 year mark (for about 8 months it was getting used twice per day) it started slowing down. I never timed it, but I'd say at least 1.2x slower. At the 3 year mark, it's 1.5-1.6x slower. The last of the barrel takes super long to grind and it's quite squeaky.
Although, if you're in a place where you can get replacement burrs, you're sorted. I had to get mine from the US, and as I mentioned, they didn't work out with my model. The adjustment nut on the old C2 model doesn't align with the outer burr of the new one.
Point being, if you're someone looking for a grinder now in 2026, are seeing the C2 as an option but are hesitant to invest due to its age. Don't. Super good option.
P.s. another pro, disassembly and cleaning is super easy. Get a small device pump.
Ask me any questions you have.
Somehow the grind-setting dial got jammed, and can only go up to setting 4. I am also unsure if it is actually even changing the setting, as it seems loose, then gets jammed at 4.
I don't know what happened to it, I left it with some friends over the weekend, and got it back like this.
Thanks!
