What would it be like if they met?
While I was watching Regular Show: The Lost Tapes this week, I started wondering if the same concept could’ve worked for Totally Spies.
For context, Regular Show, which aired on Cartoon Network from 2010-17, just got a revival in the form of “The Lost Tapes”. Due to Regular Show’s finale being pretty conclusive, “The Lost Tapes” aren’t new episodes that take place after the series finale, but rather they’re set sometime during the show's earlier seasons.
Some key aspects of the “The Lost Tapes” are:
In Totally Spies’ case, this could’ve meant:
Given that Jerry retired from WOOHP at the end of Season 5, perhaps the writers could’ve made an in-universe explanation such as Jerry in retirement looking over old WOOHP case/mission files that he’d forgotten about. The episodes could’ve then been set either with the girls back in high school (Seasons 1-4) or at Mali-U (Season 5). If the former option was chosen, we could've had characters like Arnold, David, Caitlin, Dominique, and even GLADIS return, and maybe gotten more episodes centered around them in order to give them more character development. Either way, Mandy, Britney, Dean, and the girls’ parents could’ve made a comeback and, in addition to new villains, the writers could’ve also tried fleshing out the backstories of already-established villains.
With the recent surge of Y2K nostalgia online, I also feel this format could’ve brought back more fans of the original show and perhaps also attracted first-time viewers who are looking to watch a different and “retro” kind of show. These are just my thoughts, of course. I’m still grateful that we got Season 7 at all. I'm merely wondering what your thoughts are regarding this hypothetical concept and whether or not it could’ve worked had Banijay chosen to pursue it.
We know that Totally Spies, The Amazing Spiez, and Martin Mystery are all in the same universe and on the same planet. But is "Team Galaxy," another Marathon cartoon, also in the same universe?
You can see that the art style for these four animated series is similar. My guess is that they take place in the same universe (based on the art style). Maybe we just don't know. What do you think?
Hey guys, Just joined the Totally Spies subreddit since i watched both the original and the reboot, Also i have gained more interest on that show!
Btw, Where does this image of this episode come from? If you all have this episode name, please let me know.
I always enjoyed the few times where Jerry gets involved and is on the field. He's a veteran spy with skill and experience, the way he holds his own against brainwashed Yoga Sam and captures her was excellent. As he said, he's still got it
We all describe Telly like this: Telly sends Mandy a friend request on social media during their Bev High days, but Mandy rejects it because of her arrogance (as we know). Telly was a nerd and geek, not taken seriously in those years (like Arnold). However, Telly quietly improves himself and manages to create a social media platform (while he was the president of the Computer Club in Bev High). He uses this website, called "Mandybook", to get revenge on Mandy (you already know this part).
Imagine wanting to confess your feelings to a girl and being ignored because you're a nerd and geek (not just one girl, but almost everyone), only to reappear a few years later, completely different, cool, smart and confident.
Telly's quote perfectly encapsulates it all:
"People like you don't get that; it's geeks like me who create the social networks you enjoy."
So, be careful with nerds, or you might end up working for them.
