Planning an 8-day Skardu trip in mid-July - Need some advice

Hi everyone!

I'm planning an 8-day family trip to Skardu in the middle of July and would love some advice from people who have visited recently.

  • How is the weather in mid-July?
  • Does it rain a lot, or is it still a good time for sightseeing?
  • How crowded is Skardu during this time? Are the tourist spots and hotels very busy?
  • Are the roads generally safe and open?

I'm also looking for accommodation suggestions.

Would you recommend staying at resorts like Shangrila and Himmel, or would it be better to stay in guest houses surrounded by nature for a more peaceful experience?

Lastly, I'm looking for a reliable, honest driver+guide with a Prado for the entire trip. If you've personally had a good experience with someone, please share their contact details.

Any recommendations for hotels, guest houses, or drivers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Heading to Nangma Valley with 5 friends, need advice + local guide contacts

Hey everyone, a group of 6 of us from Karachi are planning a trek to Nangma Valley this season.

We haven't booked any tour operator and honestly don't plan to either ,we're carrying our own food, tents, and all the essential gear. What we do need is a local village guide for the trek itself, mainly for navigating the route and just having someone around in case of an emergency. If anyone here has done this trek before and worked with a guide they trusted, I'd really appreciate if you could share their contact. Also curious what a fair budget for a guide like this looks like these days, since we don't want to overpay but also don't want to lowball someone doing a genuinely important job.

If you've actually done the trek yourself, I'd love to hear how tough it really is. We're reasonably fit but none of us are seasoned mountaineers, so any honest take on the difficulty would help us prepare better.

Second question once we're at the basecamp, what would you suggest next? Is push onward to K6 basecamp worth it for a group like ours, or is there another extension/side trek from there that's more realistic? If anyone has an itinerary from their own trip (days, distances, camping spots, that sort of thing), please share it would save us a lot of guesswork.

Really appreciate any help, even small tips. Thanks in advance.

trip to north

Salam, Hope everyone is doing great. I am m21 and I am planning to take a trip to the northern areas of pakistan. I will most probably be solo traveling in july so I would appreciate recommendations for travel groups which are inclusive or people who are just looking for others to join. I am aiming for around 10 - 15 (or more) days of travel and I am looking for a trip which is trekking and remote intensive. I want to get away from the city life and spend nights in the remote areas to refresh the mind. I am flexible and can literally live anywhere (i would actually prefer spending the nights in camps). I am not aiming for hunza or skardu as I have been there. I want to explore the underrepresented areas and see the untouched beauty of Pakistan. If there are any like minded people please get in touch. May you all be blessed. JazakAllah.

Any lush green places near islamabad (below abtobbad) for 2 days stay with family

Hello everyone,

My family is planning to visit northern areas next week. But due to my sister's health conditions, we can't go beyond abtobbad.

So I'm looking for a lush green safe place to stay in 2-3 days and explore, which is above Islamabad but below abtobbad (it can be in the outskirts of the islamabad). It should give a good view of mountains (my eyes are yearning for mountains😭) and have a relatively good weather.

So if you have any suggestions for such places, kindly tell me.
