Tunecore takedowns glitched or broken

I need to take down an album, since Tunecore's incompetent support staff are once again giving me nonsensical reasons why they won't approve it. So I do the usual and re-upload the album, and it will get approved easily this time.

But then I have to take down the other one, which usually isn't too difficult with their ridiculous system. But now they've added a new feature: "Reason for taking down this release".

As you may know, you have to browse through an unsortable list of your releases, and find and identify the one you want to take down using only the cover art to identify it. But when you go to Page 2, it says "You haven't saved your changes" which usually isn't a problem.

But now when you click Next Page, it says "Why are you taking down this release?" because it's still trying to submit a takedown, as before.

And then you're stuck. All you can do is select a reason why you're taking it down, but then it says "You haven't selected a release to take down."

So the only way to get to Page 2 would be to take down all your releases on Page 1.

Too much AI accusation

I make music in FL Studio and never have I used their mastering or any other tools that would be generative AI yet TuneCore support wants to give me problems. All of this has gotten far worse than I thought, it seems like no one can put out music without it being flagged and or taken down.

TuneCore put my withdrawals on hold right after I updated my payout card just to test a $1 withdrawal

I updated my payout card because my old one expired. Before withdrawing my balance, I decided to test it with just a $1 withdrawal to make sure everything worked.

Instead, TuneCore rejected the withdrawal, put all my withdrawals on hold, and now my account is under an "internal review." Support told me to wait 3–4 business days.

Seriously? I wasn't trying to withdraw a huge amount. I was literally testing $1 to avoid problems.

If changing your payout method automatically triggers a security review, at least warn users beforehand instead of freezing their funds after they submit a withdrawal.

Has anyone else had this happen? How long did it take for the hold to be removed?

This has been a really frustrating experience and doesn't inspire much confidence in TuneCore's payout system.

UPDATE #1:

TuneCore replied and said they completed a full review of my account. According to them, my account was flagged for "abnormal activity," so:

  • My music has been removed from stores.
  • My funds will remain on hold in accordance with their Terms & Conditions.
  • My TuneCore account has been permanently closed.
  • They will no longer distribute any releases from this account.
  • They also stated that uploading new content to this or any other TuneCore account will not be supported.

I am honestly shocked by this decision.

We just launched a free music distribution plan for independent artists

Hey everyone,

We're the team behind DNM, a music distribution platform that primarily works with independent artists.

Over the past few months, we've spoken with a lot of artists, especially newer artists, and one thing kept coming up repeatedly:

Many artists wanted to release music, but weren't comfortable committing to annual subscriptions or upfront distribution costs before they had even built an audience.

So we've decided to launch a completely free music distribution plan.

A few details:

• Free forever (not a limited-time promotion)
• Unlimited song releases
• 80% royalty share
• Songs stay available for lifetime
• YouTube Content ID included
• Up to 2 primary artists
• Instagram profile linking
• Pre-save & release links
• Songwriter pages
• Revenue reports
• Spotlight Studio Basic Tier access
- Dedicated Dashboard

We also offer paid plans with additional features and higher-tier services, but we wanted to make sure artists had an option to release music without needing to pay upfront.

A couple of things worth mentioning:

  1. This free plan is currently intended for individual artists.
  2. We are not removing or changing the free plan after a few months. The intention is for it to remain available long-term.
  3. We're still actively improving the platform and would genuinely appreciate feedback from artists who try it.

If anyone has questions about how the plan works, royalties, Content ID, release management, or distribution in general, we're happy to answer them in the comments.

Thanks for reading.

TuneCore asking for documents I don't have as an independent artist – what should I do?

Hi everyone,

I’m an independent artist currently dealing with a rights verification issue involving TuneCore’s Copyright Administration team.

I received an email saying that screenshots are not accepted as proof, and they requested documentation proving exclusive release and monetization rights, such as:

• Signed distribution / label agreement • Reversion / termination notice • Rights assignment document

The issue is that I distribute independently through TuneCore, so:

  • I do not have a signed label agreement because there is no third-party label involved.
  • I do not have a reversion or termination notice because this recording was never distributed through any previous distributor.
  • I do not have a rights assignment document because no rights were transferred from another party.

I have already requested more information regarding the conflicting claim because I’m trying to understand what asset or uploader is creating the conflict.

Has anyone here faced a similar issue as an independent artist?

What documents actually helped resolve it?

Did a self-declaration, ownership letter, timeline document, DAW screenshots, raw files, or distribution records help?

Any advice would really help. Thank you.

TuneCore is demanding licenses for beats I used in 2020, but I can’t contact the producer anymore. Am I out of options?

Hey everyone,

I’m hoping someone with experience in music distribution, licensing, or BeatStars/YouTube beats can help me understand my situation.

Back in early 2020, I recorded and released several original songs using instrumentals I found on YouTube. Now I’m trying to redistribute them in 2026 (I took them down a few years ago) and two of the beats I used are coming back as “Copyrighted” by two other artists (both around 2021).

The songs were released by me in 2020 and are the exact same recordings I’m trying to distribute today. They are not remixes, not new versions, and not derivative works. I’m simply re-releasing the same masters that were already released years ago, which TuneCore distributed.

So tuneCore flagged these two tracks and claimed they contain third-party samples. They are now requesting:

A master use license
A derivative work license
Documentation proving I have the rights to distribute the instrumentals

The problem is that I no longer have any contact information for the producer, and I’ve been unable to reach them.

What I do have:

- The original upload dates from 2020
- Proof that my songs were released in 2020
- Evidence that these are the same recordings, not new creations

What I don’t have:
- The formal written license
- A contract
- Any recent communication with the producer

My questions are:

Has anyone successfully dealt with a situation like this?

If the producer has disappeared and cannot be contacted, what options do I have?

Has anyone gotten TuneCore to accept alternative evidence when a formal license wasn’t available?
If I legally used the beat under the terms that existed in 2020, should I still be able to re-release the same recording today?

I’m not looking for legal advice, just trying to understand how distributors typically handle situations where older recordings were created using “free for profit” beats and the original producer is no longer reachable.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
