Is UPSC worth attempting if employability and financial stability are priorities?
I often receive advice to “just prepare for UPSC” because I come from a humanities background.
However, my concern is opportunity cost, uncertainty and the low success rate.
For people who have seriously prepared:
Would you recommend UPSC to someone who values stability?
Is it realistic to keep UPSC as a backup while pursuing another career path?
What would you do differently if starting again?
UPSC student having emotional breakdowns need help
For last few days I’m having emotional breakdowns, easily getting frustrated on simple things, always on verge of crying.
I was thinking about going to a therapist.
Having some personal issues+ failed prelims preparing from last 3 years
An introvert having 2 best friends& no social life
My Boyfriend Built His First UPSC App. Looking for Brutally Honest Feedback!!
Hey there!
I recently started preparing for UPSC, and like everyone else suggested, I began with PYQ analysis. But the sources available in the market felt so conventional. The booklets are expensive, and every AI chatbot I tried struggled with analyzing PYQs properly. I was honestly shocked to find out that most PYQs are still available only in PDF format. Come on, we're already halfway through the third decade of the 21st century. We at least deserve an app that makes PYQ analysis much more convenient!
So my boyfriend came up with an idea and literally designed an application.
And it's genuinely so good. It has UPSC Prelims PYQs from 2011 onwards in CBT mode.
You don't have to switch between different AI chatbots to analyze every single option in a question. (A serious aspirant knows that analyzing the wrong options is just as important as analyzing the correct one.)
And that's not all. It's a one-stop solution for many of the hurdles we face during preparation. It includes features like:
- Flashcards
- Micro-theme-based syllabus analysis
- Topic-wise tests covering all topics
- Full-length mock tests
- Real-time AI explanations for every question
The app is incredibly smooth, and he built it with so much love, dedication, and countless hours of hard work.
I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts. Do you think it's worth publishing? I feel Reddit is probably the best place to get honest feedback from fellow aspirants before taking the plunge.
Thanks! :)

Du girls preparing for upsc.
Interested in a small girls delhi uni UPSC group? Preferably arts/social science folks. (I have sociology optional)

Just looking for accountability with keeping (daily targets), and helping each other stay consistent through this journey. The group is looking for genuine participants rather than silent members, so the group stays useful for everyone. (the group is already made and we have over 10 members but we need some more members)

One week into SSC Maths, panicked in the mock and skipped the entire Quant section. Need advice.
Hi everyone,
I’m primarily a UPSC aspirant and have also started preparing for SSC 2026. I attempted a full-length mock today.
To be honest, I got completely flabbergasted when I reached the Quant section. I’ve been preparing Maths for only about a week, and seeing the questions made me panic. I ended up skipping the entire section instead of attempting it.
Looking for study partner for UPSC 2027

Current affairs Q for Veterans
Can any of these three magazines serve as viable sources for current affairs as far as UPSC CSE is concerned? :
- Competition Success Review
2.Pratiyogita Darpan
Civil Services Chronicle by Lexicon
They are standalone publications, not connected to any coaching institute. Wondered if they could work, especially if paired with daily reading of IE or The Hindu.
Thought of sharing my 2025 marksheet, had 120+ in essay :)
I was very sick during 2025 mains, however had a good score in essay.
If you wanna know anything specific you can comment:)
Upscprep.com coaching review
I am a student of upsc essential batch. Posting a review if anyones looking for it.
Pros - standard content provided, practice sessions, daily questions, time efficiency
Cons -
no personalised feeling or access - even mentor calls get tiring as its technically one on one but you have to introduce yourself every single time. There is no 'single mentor' for you
Test series is questionable. Its already provided during start of course and that means its not uodated during prelims or mains. You just have to trust somehow its relevant questions (i didnt take them i wanted more of current updated questions)
Some faculties are average some are good. Not going to mention the names but for me I had 2-3 faculties whose classes i loved, others i used to stick to content provided
Feeling of incompleteness - you feel a sort of having to figure out things by yourselves
With that said i wouldnt say its bad. its worth the money as it was affordable. But there is a lot of room for improvement.
Reality of corruption?
I am currently in 3rd year of my engineering btech at a decent college.
Just like many others, i also often wonder about the lives of indian babus, especially the ones in civil/revenue service .
I often hear many people saying that a typical pcs babu like bdo or sdm in rajasthan,up,mp,jharkhand, chattisgarh and haryana makes 50 lakh to 1 crore a year. Is this correct or just another myth?
Please help me understand the ground reality seniors.
