The Aspirant Network

Hello all, I have made this website called theaspirantnetwork[dot]com

It has a community side which is much like a subreddit specifically made for UPSC. You can request reviews in a dedicated space for everything related to UPSC including teachers, mentors, courses, test series, study material, PG rooms, etc.

It also has an in-built YPT/Forest type time tracker so you can record your study hours from your phone as well as laptop/ipad etc.

The community and all of the mentioned tools are absolutely free.

This has taken a year's worth of work. I hope you all find this useful.
All the best!

UPSC Strategy setting through PYQs.

We are not able to navigate through the UPSC syllabus. I suppose, to an extent, neither is UPSC :P

I have started a free strategy series. The idea is to understand the strategy to cover a subject, in a topic-wise manner, through a public PYQ analysis.

Strategy ka rational IS the PYQ analysis.

Every video will be less than 20 min...10 min at 2x. Agar dekhna hai ki kya important hai aur kya important nahi hai padhne ke liye, prioritise kaise karna hai....then you can follow it. Attaching the introduction here.

Thinking of starting a free PYQ analysis series

A lot of the 'PYQ analysis' that is available online, especially on YouTube, seems to be basically just one person solving the PYQs.

In my opinion, an analysis needs to do a few things

  1. Categorise the questions - TOPIC wise, NOT subject wise (subjects are too vast). This is to be done on the basis of year, theme, knowledge needed, core concept needed, tricks used by UPSC, common mistakes that people would make in that question.

2. Provide the following:
(i) Frequency of questions
(ii) Identify themes in that topic
(iii) Identify the recurrent concepts that are asked
(iv) Provide actionable patterns that UPSC has used in the PYQs
(v) Give a final priority list for that topic based on the analysis done.

  1. Give the list of topic wise questions so anyone who wants to practice them first can do that too.

I don't see this being done anywhere. I would not mind doing this for free on YouTube, but it requires a lot of effort, hence I want to validate this...would you guys actually be interested in this?

TL/DR: Most UPSC PYQ analysis online just isin't good enough. It lacks actual analysis and insights. I am thinking of doing a free one on YT, would you guys be interested in it?

After multiple UPSC attempts, one issue that kept coming up for me was that I never really knew if I was actually done with a topic or just felt done after going through it a couple of times.

A friend and I started making a simple “Are You Done?” style revision approach...basically taking a topic and running through a set of questions to test whether you can actively recall and apply concepts.

I initially made these for a few juniors who wanted help with revision, but I’m curious if this kind of approach actually works for others, too.

Would this kind of question-based self-check help you in your prep? Or do you already use something similar?

If anyone’s interested, I can share a couple of examples in the comments.
