21F International student looking for accommodation recs in Leeds+ part time job advise

Hi everyone!

I’m 21F starting at University of Leeds this September and I’m looking for accommodation recommendations.

> What I’m looking for:
- Budget: £135-£140/week ideally
- Type: En-suite, self-catered preferred
- Location: Close to campus / 15-20 min walk max
- Vibe: Safe, social, and good for international students
> I’ve seen Sentinel Towers on the uni site but it’s a bit over budget at £161+/week.
> Also open to any other recommendations or places to avoid!

Part-time job question:
Should I start applying for part-time jobs before I arrive in the UK, or is it better to wait until I’m there and settled? Any tips for international students on finding jobs in Leeds?

Thanks so much 🙏

Excitement

Am I right in thinking UoL is really social. Been pinching myself out of excitement to go to uni but I have a fear its just going to be dead individualistic. I have been told from friends that once i get into it I will be wishing I was back in college. Any thoughts?

Does anyone have experience living at Threadworks?

Hello! I’m an incoming international student at University of Leeds looking for an accommodation. Does anyone have experience staying at Threadworks? How is the overall experience? Thank you in advance.

What Leeds accommodation do I apply for as an exchange student?

Hello!

I am a Kiwi heading to Leeds this September for a semester abroad and need help picking the right accommodation to apply for.

I am looking to pick somewhere that is in a good location, social, and has a lot of exchange/international students as I’m looking to not be with just freshers haha.

As long as I have my own room, I don’t really mind sharing a bathroom. I imagine I’ll be doing some travel during the weekends as well.

I am also not sure if it’s better to go catered? On one hand it would be very convenient, but obviously it’s more money (are catered accommodations known for being more social?) and I don’t know anything about the quality of the food (I’m not very picky though).

Any advice would be appreciated! I’ve had Charles Morris, White Rose, and Central Village recommended, and apparently, you only get one choice — so if you pick a popular hall you risk not getting in and being placed somewhere else.

Thanks!

PhD student and budget friendly hall

I’m applying for university accommodation, and I am inclined towards Royal Park Flats which from my research is the best option.

It seems to be the best combination of low cost and postgraduate environment. Is it aimed at PG students? Is there a better option?

DO NOT EVER SEND YOUR DEVICES TO GADGET FIX EVEN THOUGH U ARE DESPERATE

Cause I can 100% confirm you will get your laptop back months after, with endless trip to the store asking the progress of your device. Lack of communication, slow progress, and very dodgy system. Rude as well, I don’t know just a lot of bad stuffs there I wished I never sent my laptop there.
