Going out in the Summer

Hey everyone! I'm a 21 yr old college student from another big party school coming in this summer for an internship and was curious about the nightlife scene. I know WVU is known for being a party school during the semester, but what's it like in the summer when most students are gone?

I like to wind down on weekends by going out for drinks and I'd love to know if there are any solid bars or spots worth checking out. Are the bars still active or does the whole scene basically die down once the school year ends?

Also, I'll be coming in not knowing many people, so if anyone is around this summer and down to go out on the weekends, feel free to drop a comment or shoot me a DM! Always down to meet new people and explore the area together.

Any recommendations or tips from locals or people who've spent a summer there would be super appreciated. Thanks!

Reminder to Rate your Landlords and Professors

As everyone heads home for summer, I just wanted to take a second to reflect on the past year at MSU. East Lansing always has a way of turning chaos into memories somehow.

This year was a mix of late nights, random memories, stressful moments, great people, and a lot of lessons learned. Now that classes and finals are mostly behind us, it feels like the perfect time to leave some honest feedback that could help other students next semester.

If you lived off-campus this year, especially if you dealt with a landlord or property company, consider sharing your experience on https://judgemylandlord.com . Good landlords deserve recognition, and bad ones shouldn’t keep getting away with ruining students’ housing situations. Your review could genuinely help another student avoid signing a nightmare lease next year.

And if you haven’t already, take a few minutes to review your professors on https://www.ratemyprofessors.com too. A lot of students rely on those reviews when choosing classes, and honestly, the professor you get can completely change your experience in a course.

We have way more power as students than we think. Sharing honest experiences makes college life more transparent for everyone coming after us.

Hope everyone has an amazing summer, stays safe, and enjoys the break. And congrats again to all the graduating seniors ❤️

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a leadership opportunity for anyone at the University of Delaware who is passionate about service, public health, or making a real impact in the community.

Hearts for the Homeless International (H4H) is a student-led nonprofit that provides free blood pressure screenings and heart health education to homeless populations across the U.S. and globally. Our team includes undergraduate students, medical students, PhD students, physicians, and other professionals who are committed to improving the well-being of underserved communities.

H4H was originally founded by students at the University of Central Florida and has grown into an international organization with 15+ chapters across the U.S., Brazil, and India. We’re currently looking for motivated student leaders at the University of Delaware who want to start a chapter and serve the growing and often overlooked homeless community.

This is a great opportunity if you’re interested in leadership, medicine, public health, nonprofit work, or community service. We provide guidance, structure, and support — all we ask for is your time, compassion, and willingness to lead.

Our work has been recognized by the U.S. Congress, the Brazilian government, President Clinton, major educational and medical institutions, and organizations such as Forbes. Our students have also led disaster relief efforts for homeless populations during hurricanes and partnered with major companies like Bombas.

Level 1 grade appeal *HELP*

hey y’all, i’m a second semester senior mechanical engineering student (literally about to graduate on sunday!).

i received my final grades on monday and saw that i failed a class. throughout the entire semester i could only see my homework and quiz grades on ecampus. there were 2 exams and a final alongside these quizzes and homeworks. i only ever received exam 2 back, but it was in my student mailbox and never on ecampus.

I NEVER RECEIVED MY EXAM 1 GRADE TO THIS DAY PHYSICALLY OR VIRTUALLY.

anyway, i submitted a level 1 grade appeal because my grades were never transparent. i would have gone for help and submitted extra credit assignments if i had known my true grade, but from my point of view, i was doing quite well in the class with an A average on homework and a B average on quizzes. my exam 2 was an 80. i was blindsided by my final failing grade and i am panicked because i have a job lined up in a different state with a lease already signed!!! wvu will not let me take this credit elsewhere due to the transient credit policy and they don’t offer it over the summer so i would have to take it in the fall????? they already denied my level 1 appeal because the professor of the class said he abided by all the “tenets of grading” when the FIRST tenent is literally “correct and consistent grading and entering grades”.

someone please help or give me advice, i am so stressed.

edit: forgot to say im 0.7% away from a passing grade.

pooping at the bars

i’m an incoming freshman and i poop around 2-4 times a day, i really wanna party and that’s why i chose to come here so i can party every night, the only thing is i poop so much during the day and i always need to poop at night, so is pooping in a bar acceptable? my poops are a relatively consistent texture, very soft close to diarrhea, and they don’t smell great i mean it’s poop after all, but if i take a dump at a bar will i get made fun of, especially if im drinking because whenever i get sloshed i have diarrhea

Want to get in but low GPA lots of credits will I get accepted?

I currently am saving money in the oilfield to go back to college, and will be there soon.

I want to transfer from a TX school I went to in the past. I want to be an education major. I have about 119 probably about 140 attempted college credits. On my education major alone I had over a 3.0 gpa (2021, 89 credits) and then from a university ( 29 credits in accounting with over 3.0gpa ) however if you added in all my other credits from my oilfield related major my gpa drops to about 2.4 cumulative & I saw that they want a overall 2.5 for education majors, what could I do about this?

Would i still get admitted? would i need to come in with a different major then swap?

edit to add: all credits are from cc, and not a university with the exception of the 29 credits in accounting. also want to add that i am not worried about transferring any of the credits just want to get admitted into EDU. (granted the more I can transfer would be nice too!)

update edit: pulled my transcripts today turns out my cumulative is a 2.8 with 125/134 (received/attempted) credits. only 58 directly in EDU!

Evensdale vs Nightlife

So, I’m an incoming freashie and I’m living in Oakland hall in the fall, and from what i’ve seen online it looks pretty isolated from nightlife and the collage scene. So do people just commute from Evens dale to downtown and back, and vise versa? Is there anything that really happens in Evens dale?

Question about graduate program acceptance rates

Is there a way to see the online graduate program's acceptance rates? I am trying to figure out if I should apply to different online graduate universities for options or not. Thanks in advance!

coming to WVU for an REU this summer, i have so many questions

hey everyone! i will be starting my summer REU in WVU on the 18th (super excited!) and this will be my first time in WVU (and the state of West Virginia overall). i haven't gotten a whole lot of information on my living situation however, apart from the fact that i will be living in Brooke Tower in a double room, and i will get a stipend + $250 for travel & meals, but would need to provide my own meals otherwise.

currently my main concern is food. does Brooke Tower have a communal fridge, kitchen, or microwaves in case i want to cook every once in a while or even just make instant noodles. also, are there a whole lot of vegetarian options on/around campus? i am vegetarian so that always concerns me a bit.

in general i'm also wondering what facilities i would be given access to. i'm hoping to work on a personal project over the summer so i would like to use any makerspaces there if that is at all possible, in addition to general places like the gym, library etc. also will there be shuttle buses reliably operating during the summer?

finally i would love any recommendations for things to do on/around campus while i'm there for the next 10 weeks!!

I have a question

When retaking a class during the summer that you failed and you end up passing the class and getting a significantly better grade does the grade you end up getting over the summer improve your term GPA from the spring or fall depending on when you failed the class?
