DOE's Coal Investment ---- Topic Area 2

I was thinking about Yesterday's DoE awarding $75 million as part of a multi-tiered, $1 billion federal funding architecture managed by their Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation.

There is an additional 175M for the Mines & Metals Capacity Expansion program, for Topic Area 2 expanding funding to midstream processing, separation, and recycling across all industrial sectors.

Selections for this tranche are scheduled for Q4 2026.

---

The REE Demonstration Facility Program 135M

It funds the design, construction, and operation of a demonstration-scale facility to extract, separate, and refine rare earths from acid mine drainage and mine waste.

This program strictly mandates an academic partner, aligning perfectly with the WVU pipeline, which ALOY is firmly entrenched as the midstream and metallization partner.

----

Critical Minerals and Materials Accelerator 50M

A concurrent rolling program designed to fast-track late-stage, market-ready commercialization technologies within a compressed 3-to-7-year window.

----

Federal cash flows directly to the coal operators - Ramaco - or WVU partners to build and operate raw extraction pilot plants.

The grant covers 50% to 80% of the upstream Opex and Capex needed to process toxic acid mine drainage or coal refuse into Mixed Rare Earth Carbonates.

The capital flows to ALOY as an economic subsidy embedded in the feedstock.

Since federal grants fully subsidize the upstream extraction infrastructure, MCM and Ramaco supply ALOY with highly enriched feedstock at a drastically suppressed, stable cost-basis under long-term offtake agreements.

----

The EPA provides no direct funding to ALOY.

However, its strict enforcement of perpetual pH neutralization mandates for acid mine drainage forces coal operators to continuously process mine runoff.

This environmental mandate legally guarantees ALOY’s upstream partners a constant, highly subsidized supply of pre-concentrated raw waste material.

What made you choose WVU?

Hello! Rising senior here. WVU is currently my top choice due to it's campus, student life, and it's the only school I'm considering with the major I want (sports psychology).

What made you choose WVU? What do you like, not like about it? Is there anything you regret when choosing WVU?

Thank you so much!

Are there any NICE apartments in the Morgantown area for a 37 year old that doesn't want to be in college housing?

I'm moving to Morgantown for continued education at WVU. I'm 37 years old and will be there for 3 years. Looking for a nice apartment, unfurnished, that I will be comfortable in.

I've scoured the internet (and some reddit threads) for the past week and have a few candidates, but no clear frontrunner. Figured I'd ask reddit since I'm sure not everything is listed or as advertised...thank you!

WVU International Student Health Insurance (ISO)

Hi everyone,

https://preview.redd.it/ysco08kekvah1.png?width=1918&format=png&auto=webp&s=a09eeac2a4c91c2e5434e9ce8569ef12b471c5b3

I'm an international student at WVU, and I noticed that the WVU student health insurance plan is quite expensive; it increased by over $100 compared to last year. I'm looking for alternative insurance outside of the school and came across ISO (https://www.isoa.org/schools/west-virginia-university).

I see that ISO offers three plans for WVU students: ISO Share, ISO Care Elite, and ISO Care. My main question is: are all three plans accepted by WVU to waive the school insurance? I'm particularly interested in the ISO Share plan because it fits my budget better. Has anyone successfully used ISO Share to waive the WVU student health insurance?

Any advice or experiences would be really helpful. Thank you!

How to meet with advisor

Hello, I was wondering how do you schedule an appointment with your academic advisor? I met with her (Carolyn Kitchens) for NSO, but I guess something messed up within WVU’s system with my degree-seeking credits that is messing with my finical aid. HUB told me to meet with her, but I can’t find the button or link to do it anywhere. I tried to go on navigate, she wouldn’t pop up, mostly likely going to email her.

Mon Co Flock Meet

Wednesday, July 1st 10AM at Monongalia County Courthouse

Come tell the County Commission how you feel about their decision to spend YOUR opioid settlement funds on Big Brother surveillance. They need to know we're upset, and that we want this rolled back.

Commissioner Tom Bloom has consistently shifted the onus to the Sheriff, who has been historically and conveniently unavailable to talk about the use of the surveillance devices. When anyone has deigned to speak about it, they give the same tired excuses that we've come to expect. This is not enough. We deserve better from our elected representatives. No one should have to live in a panopticon, and West Virginians are no exception.

(I am not the original poster, please find them on instagram @morgantownfnb and @runoutofwit)

Parking Garage

I’m thinking about getting a 24hr parking pass to either the Spruce St or University Ave parking garage. Is either one of them objectively better than the other? Does anyone have experience with getting a parking pass to these places?

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a leadership opportunity for anyone at the University of Delaware who is passionate about service, public health, or making a real impact in the community.

Hearts for the Homeless International (H4H) is a student-led nonprofit that provides free blood pressure screenings and heart health education to homeless populations across the U.S. and globally. Our team includes undergraduate students, medical students, PhD students, physicians, and other professionals who are committed to improving the well-being of underserved communities.

H4H was originally founded by students at the University of Central Florida and has grown into an international organization with 15+ chapters across the U.S., Brazil, and India. Im living in College Park this Semester, how do I pick a meal plan?

Basically the title, living at college park this semester so I didn't have to select a meal plan when I signed my lease. I would still like one though and there is no option for the fall semester on the "Off-Campus Student Dining Plans" on WVUs housing site. Anyone know what I need to do?

One bedroom apartments available?

Hi, I was recently accepted to WVU Law, so I am scrambling to find an apartment last minute. Everywhere I look is fully leased or far from campus. I’d like to stay under $1k and need somewhere that allows a cat. Just looking for a safe, clean place, but in unit laundry would be great too. Any suggestions are much appreciated.
