Private work space in public

I'm looking for a library, cafe, quiet pub, or any kind of public space that has reasonably private small nooks where I can do some work. Spaces with separators on either side for a bit of privacy. Power sockets for a laptop would be ideal, but I can survive without that.

There's a place in Liverpool, I think the Costa on Lord Street, that has the sort of cubicles I'm after. Does anyone know of somewhere on the Wirral please?

Thank you

West Kirby swimming pool

Has anyone been to West Kirby Concourse swimming pool in say the last month? We used to go last summer but in winter the pool was FREEZING so we started to go to Guinea Gap instead.

Just wondering if they've made it any warmer now it's getting into summer or whether it's still worth the extra journey to Guinea Gap?

Horses on the beach … and the mess that they leave.

Enjoying a morning coffee at the beach enjoying the warm morning. Delighted to see a couple of horses (and riders!!) on the beach enjoying a stroll. However, one of the horses needed to defecate and did so.

The rider paused at the horse did its business and then rode on.

There have been loads of posts in the past about dogs fouling on the beach and owners being compelled to clean it up, but what about horse riders? This is a big mess and above the high tide line so it isn’t going to wash away. We are about to enter a bank holiday weekend with hot weather forecast so the beaches are going to be busy. I was planning to bring the kids down … but I think I’ll pick another part of the beach to sit on.

What do people think? Should riders dismount and clean up? Am I in the minority thinking that this is wrong?

NHS dentist

Are there any dentists local to Bidston taking NHS patients?

I currently travel 2 hour round trip for my current practice and living on the Wirral I’d rather one here.

TIA

https://www.livpost.co.uk/how-king-charles-profits-from-merseysides/

"Then there’s the Mersey Gateway, the six-lane road bridge opened in 2017 to connect Runcorn and Widnes, which cost the taxpayer £600 million to build and now charges drivers a toll. Halton Council must also pay the King for the right to operate the bridge."

Takeaway

I'm struggling to find a good takeaway in the Wirral.

What's your favourite takeaway?

And the best item from the menu?

Preferably near the Bebington area.

Thankyou!

I'm near Heswall and my water has turned to garbage over the past two months. I noticed scum in my tea which I don't usually have so I decalcified my kettle, then a week later had to do it again. Got out my water test strips and did a new test and the water has gone from soft to very hard. No notification from UU just a whopping increase in my bill.

Interestingly (for me anyway) the best water we ever had was after there was a serious problem over in Flint. I guess when they fixed that they accidentally improved our water. But now we've been SNAFU again.

Best late night pubs Central Birkenhead

Where's the best place to grab a late beer in Central Birkenhead that isn't Weatherspoons. Bonus points if they sell San Miguel on tap and stock JD Honey.

Tunnel queues in the morning

It's a long time since I commuted to Liverpool but I'm looking at a job over the other side. What are the tunnel queues like at around quarter to eight in the morning? It is quicker these days with tflow and more people WFH? Any advice appreciated

Edit: sorry should have said Wallasey tunnel as I'm closer to M53.

Brits on Hantavirus death ship being sent to Arrowe Park Hospital to isolate

24 Passengers and Staff remaining from the MV Hondius where passengers contracted Hantavirus will be shipped to Arrowe Park Hospital for isolation upon returning to the UK. The patients arriving have not contracted the virus, those that have will be transferred to another facility.

The blocks used to isolate the passengers and staff will be the same accommodation block units used for quarantine measures for those affected by the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

Patients showing no symptoms will be transferred to Arrowe Park Hospital, and are to start using the isolation facilities from 10th May. If becoming affected during the isolation period, patients will be transferred to another facility.

Climate concerns discussed at packed Heswall event

This film, The People's Emergency Briefing, is fronted by Chris Packham and spearheads a major push to tell the British public the truth about the risks to the UK from the climate and nature crisis and about the solutions that exist - if we act fast enough.

Screenings focus on local action and the local MP is always invited and asked to ask the Government to do a prime-time, televised national emergency briefing on the crisis, mount a proper emergency response, and show international leadership.

Great to see it in the Wirral, with more screenings to come.
