Fancy an eclipse thread?

Thought I'd share my eclipse photos, and anyone else could share them as comments too.

Hope you all got to safely see it.

Solar eclipse filter?

I've taken the odd shot of sunset or alike, but not directly of the sun.

From what I've read I need a 16+ stop ND filter. I wasn't due to be home for the eclipse but now I am, but it's too late to get a new filter delivered in time.

I have variable filters 2-32 and 64-1000 which I think combined would give me a 15 stops? If that's right, could I use them on top of each other at their max and use a high iso and f11 or alike to get some shots. I know it'll not be ideal in terms of quality, but would like to try, however I don't want to cause damage to the camera?

For reference I'm using a Canon 77D aps-c body, and those filters are for my 55-250 IS STM lens.

Thanks.

Zippo prize delivery.

Thanks to the mods and Zippo for organising and supplying the prizes.

The bag has already been appropriated by my wife, and my kids are after the lighter and keyring, but they're mine.

The lighter is even better looking in person, great to add to my very small but specific collection.

Thanks again.

How to remove bathroom light cover to replace bulb going insane here :)

Hi

Italy

Circle light in bathroom. Have one in each bathroom. Could never figure out how to replace bulb. Previous tenants have clearly tried/succeeded whilst simultaneously pulling the light off the wall

It has 3 clip looking things that never budge

I've tried to rotate (but it's not fixed to ceiling anymore so difficult)

Pull downwards

Screwdriver whatever I could

UPDATE: thanks all I will get the landlord to replace it completely. Cable ties cannot solve everything, it appears..

Little bit of crafting to explain lock picking to my daughter.

I've been teaching myself to lock pick for a bit of fun, and my daughter asked some questions.

Meant we did some crafting to build a giant demo lock to help her understand how they work, and she's now spent a bit of time trying to learn how to pick them too.

Remove and prevent Seagulls from roof?

One of our neighbours keeps feeding seagulls, despite us politely asking them not to.

Because of this, the seagulls have taken to our roof as we have a loft conversion (large flat area), and I'm unsure if they have nested or not.

We are now unable to sit in our garden as the seagulls dive at us, and they are regularly crapping on the car.

Anyone know a decent company that could remove them if they've nested, and also fit something to prevent them taking to our roof?

Thanks.

Finally took the plunge

Been using cheap fidgets (sub £20) for many years now, but had been eyeing the Lautie Choc (specifically the titanium coloured one) for around a year, and kept going back to it.

I had reservations due to its cost and size, but it appeared to be my perfect fidget.

Finally took the plunge and bought it, with it then arriving today.

It was 100% worth paying for it, such a nice quality build, great action and just feels exactly as I hoped it would to use.

Might need to get a second with the silent slide for when I'm out, but this one is going to my desk to use all day at work.

Just did a family event

Just completed the local race for life with my wife, 8yo and 3yo kids to help raise money for cancer charity.

Have done it the past few years in memory of some family we've lost to cancer and some others still battling it.

Edit: Forgot to put, in extended family group we raised £1255 + £165 gift aid.

Do you often meet up as friend groups?

You see shows like Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother and Friends where groups of friends/couples meet regularly to do activities or eat meals together.

Does anyone actually have this as a life, or is it just the ideal sitcom style setting?

Just shared this in the parenting, but know there are lot more people on here who may want to know.

I've been unable to find Bernard Matthews Turkey Dinosaurs for a while now, and spotted a few other people commented the same.

With this in mind I thought I'd email Bernard Matthews direct to get an answer.

Turns out they're all being changed from Turkey to Chicken, so whatever you might find is the last of it, see part of the email reply below:

*Thank you for your email regarding the Bernard Matthews Turkey Dinosaurs – We are currently going through a transition process, switching all of our frozen coated poultry products from Turkey to Chicken (the Hamwich being the only exclusion remaining as Turkey).*

They didn't say why they are making this change, but looks safe to say it's a permanent change.
