Found this cutie at the bottom of the pool and she survived… help:)

Houston, TX. I collect dead bugs as specimens and found her at the bottom of a chlorine pool. After laying her out in the sun for an hour, she came back! I kept her. She was very skinny and weak so I didn’t expect her to make it and just wanted her to pass comfortably but now it’s been about two weeks and she looks much better. I’m in the process of building her a proper habitat as well. She’s currently having a tiny supervised meal worm but doesn’t seem very interested. She’s only had flies and I’m looking into where to find Dubia in my area(?). So now I’m an ignorant spider mom..any tips, info, etc about her would be so appreciated! An ID especially would help so I can research her preferred diet and all the good things:)

Farewell...

Here's my girl (asked the sub before, seems others agreed female) that I took in last November with only 4 legs. She was tiny and struggling, but I was able to help her catch fruit flies. I built her a small enclosure and made her hide out of baked polymer clay, which made me love her even more because unlike my jumping spiders, she actually used it quite often!

It was so much fun watching her strengthen with every molt, and go from hunting fruit flies to then crickets. Sometimes, I would even catch her pouncing on the springtails that were kept in her dirt! I grew attached to her as I knew I would, but knew she would need to be released in the spring. I kept putting it off as temps occasionally still dropped to the low 40s or it was raining all week... but today was the day.

She definitely seemed hesitant for awhile but I was able to gently nudge her, she stepped out onto a blade of a daffodil and rested for a bit. I blinked once and she was gone. I let her go under a rose bush in the shade, right next to a vegetable/fruit garden that I'm sure will bring plenty of pests for her to hunt! I really hope that she lives a long and happy life, that nature will be kind to her. Farewell sweet girl, thank you for helping to aid me further in no longer fearing spiders. I hope you hunt to your heart's content and find a mate to bring more wolfies to the garden! ❤️

Who did I discover in my clothes?

This is my new friend, Terry. I think (he?) is a wolf spider. I have kept him a few days to fatten him up before releasing him, and I'd just like to know who he is. Found in northern Maine. Spider foot for fun.

Pet Spun Egg Sac

This is my beautiful lady. She laid one egg sac before this and I passed her along to a friend that was better equipped to deal with babies, but she dropped the sac. I got her back home today and redid her (pretty dry) enclosure and she immediately spun another sac. Any tips on becoming a grammammy? I’m not gonna give her back in case it’s another dud. I can’t tell if this is viable since I found her in a death curl almost frozen to death and my friend said that may have caused issue with the fertility, or just because she didn’t like how dry her enclosure got? but this is the second one she spun so idk. I wanna prepare for the worst (so many babies but I’ll try! 😭)

stuck spood :[

I've got what I'm pretty sure is a juvenile male stuck in my bathroom. I was content to let him chill for a bit until I could shoo him back outside, but he's somehow gotten himself stuck in my cat's litterbox and can't climb out. Anyone have any ideas on getting him to freak out less to free the poor guy?

gave kittie her first cricket today!

i’m super super terrified of crickets so i never bought them myself, but some came in with my new tarantula sling and they’re too big for him, so i gave one to kittie for a treat. hopefully i will get over my fears soon so she can have more crickets. what is the healthiest bug to be feeding your spider?

Is this a Wolf Spider? Pennsylvania.

I was moving rocks in my garden today and uncovered her. She didn’t move at all and she was uncovered for maybe 30 seconds before I put the rock back on her. It looks like she’s sitting on an egg sac? I’d say she was 1 inch big and chubby!

Question about Wolf spiders

I hope it’s okay to ask just a question, I didn’t see it was against the rules.

I live in USDA zone 6b (Great Lakes Midwest), we’ve always had a robust wolf spider population, but they’ve been MIA for two years. All I see are the grasslands spiders and the occasional black widow now. And while I’m sure grassland spiders are just fine, they don’t really act like a murderous bouncer in my garage or plant room. I miss the hyper aggressive with anything they encounter behavior wolf spiders have. Does anyone know why their numbers may have dropped so significantly in my zone?

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Lowkey obsessed with the size diff in my two wolfie egg sacs

Both are Hogna antelucana. One momma has just a little pebble of eggs and the other one can barely walk with that absolute boulder attached to her booty! I am both excited and terrified to see how coated in slings she will be once they all hatch lol. Biggest clutch I've ever seen on a wolfie! If anyone might be interested in some baby wolfies in the near future, I will definitely have some lmao
