Ferrari No83 HyperCar at Night - A6000 55-210mm

I have mixed feelings about this picture as it's not as sharp as I would like, but then I also like the slight blurring of the car to give the feeling of speed. Any thoughts?

This was on my A6000 with the 55-210mm f/4.5-6.3 OSS lens with the following settings:

1/8s

F/5.0

83mm

3200ISO

I was playing around with the settings at the time.

Cool Filters for 16-50 kit

Hi, I know the kit lens is seen as a waste of money. But on vacation, for a low effort, low cortisol, low reward lens, I think’s it’s perfect, especially if it’s going to be very sunny and with a lot of light. I think It’s easier to “embrace” its flaws rather than trying to adjust them.

So I was wondering, are there any filters who can embrace the “imperfectness” of this lens, and add some “character” in-camera? For example warmer colours, a more pleasing digital noise (not sure if filters con go this deep), and so on.

Hoping not to sound too much like those cinematic vibe Instagram influencers who tell me to use 12800 iso, 1/1000s, f/22 lol.

Thanks!

My first month with Sony A6000 + 16-50mm kit lens

My first camera and really enjoying the learning process. Really want to learn the basics of a good photo and figure out my preferences before upgrading lens. Thinking of a Viltrox 35mm f1.7 or Sony 50mm f1.8. Any advice would really be appreciated.

What lens stays on your camera most of the time?

I can't shake this Viltrox 23mm f/1.4 off my camera to save my life. I also love my 1/4 mist and polarizer filter combination too.

Bought new lens againnn!!!

Added Tamron 17-70 f/2.8 to my A6000 family. I got so used to the 50mm and 85mm lens perspective that 17mm focal length feels unreal and space bending.

This lens will sit on my camera for 99% of the time unless I do serious person portrait.

I have yet to upload a batch of photos from Sirui 85mm, after that I might take photos only from the tamron. Will do the similar carbon fiber wrap on all other lens like the sony one.

Ducks in neighborhood pond

Went out to walk the dog and brought the camera along. I had to get a photo of these two.

Shot on the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8.

1/2500
50mm
ISO 100

Feel free to critique. I'm always looking to get better. :)

Final photos

Some of my last photos on the a6000 before I switch to an A7 IV, loved this camera / setup for a beginner and it was great to start on this to find out if I really liked photography (I do). I'm mainly upgrading for the video and full frame aspects of the A7. I was thinking of going to the 6700 but I found an A7 IV basically brand new for a great price near me. Photos taken mostly with Tamron 17-70 f2.8 and Sony OSS 50mm f1.8.

Guess I’m one of you now. Just got my new travel setup, and I’m impressed =^_^=

I have to admit, Sony never really excited me.

My full-frame Nikon Z with a few S-line primes is basically my dream setup. The problem is that this dream setup has been sitting at home for two years. Meanwhile, thousands of my travel photos were taken on a phone.

Why? Because the body with even one lens is about 1.25 kg, and for travel that is just too much for me. I also don’t love the idea of carrying something that expensive around all day and constantly worrying about damaging it or losing it.

So I started looking for a smaller travel camera.

Fuji was tempting, but still a bit too big and heavy for what I wanted, and the joystick-based controls on the newer bodies drive me crazy.

Then I looked at Micro Four Thirds. Olympus, Panasonic, all that. Very tempting too, but the 2x crop and the feeling of a slowly dying system made me hesitate.

So, almost as a last resort, I looked at Sony.

And honestly, I was biased. I had heard the usual stuff for years: bad colors, bad screens, bad EVFs, terrible menus. The classic Sony reputation.

But I also always remembered the NEX line as something special. Back then it felt like a real breakthrough, and I still think nobody quite repeated that idea.

While looking at old NEX cameras, I somehow ended up reading about the a6000. Then I found one used, in perfect condition, with only 300 shutter actuations, for about $375.

I bought it.

And yeah, I get it now.

This little camera is beautiful in its simplicity, compactness, and imperfection. It feels great in the hand, the weight is perfect, and the menu really is not that bad. After a couple of days, everything made sense.

Sure, it is missing a lot of modern features. But somehow that is part of the charm.

I immediately bought three small lightweight prime lenses, two extra batteries, taped over the EVF proximity sensor, and even blacked out the Sony logo with a marker because I am still not fully used to seeing it there.

Now I actually take a camera with me again. And I am enjoying photography in the same way I did 15 years ago with a tiny Canon Rebel XT / 350D and a Helios 44.

The a6000 is a legend. Such a weirdly pleasant and addictive little camera.

Guess I’m one of you now. New travel setup, and I’m impressed.

A6000 Lens not mounting? (Kit lens, Sigma 16mm, Sigma 30mm)

Hi all. My a6000 is now giving me a message saying to check and see that the lens is mounted. I have not changed anything and have never had any issues with this before.
I have tried different lenses and all have given me the same message. Has anyone run into this before/know what to do that might fix it?

Scored an A6000 + kit lens for $250 CAD — feeling pretty lucky 🍀

Recently, I scored this A6000 with the 16–50mm kit lens from a thrift store for $250 CAD.
It’s my 5th camera, so I probably need to stop buying more. 😂

Honestly, I’m surprised by how good the image quality still is. It’s super lightweight and easy to carry around. I’ve also noticed the blues look a bit deeper compared to my A6600, although that might just be different color rendering between the two bodies.

The only other thing I noticed is the mode dial is a bit stiffer than on my A6600. Not sure if that’s just normal for the A6000 or specific to this unit, but it doesn’t affect usability—just a small quirk.

For an older APS-C camera, it still holds up really well.

———————————————————————————
Edit: one thing I forgot to mention is that, for some reason, this thing had less than 2k shutter counts.

I wondered if the owner forgot it in a drawer and found it a decade later.

Picked this up today

Picked up the a6000 today, previously had a bridge lumix.

I'm still unsure on how everything works and can't seem to figure out how focus works on this. Hopefully figure everything out before i bring this out for pictures.

Would appreciate any tips y'all might have since this is my first ever proper camera.
