The soft sell

weird sales experience. I stopped in the dealership to take a look at the 500e. the car doors were locked. couldn’t even open the trunk. no one approached me to help out. I had to go find a salesperson to ask questions. talk about the soft sell. she told me that fiat was basically doa in America. and gave me every signal to walk away from the 500e.

tbf $37k for an ev with 140 mi is kinda nuts

New here!

First one but unlikely to be the last.

600e. Competizione spec. Didn’t get the pick of colours but I’m glad I didn’t. Would have wanted black but the orange pops a treat! 👌🏻

Only 120 miles on the clock but so far so good.

Controversially like the sound generator given that she’s electric but interesting to find out that as of this year all sound generators will cease to be fitted to the current spec as its decibels are too high - laughable!

Planning on tints to the front two windows to help it look less like a van 👍🏻

First Abarth - UK buying tips?

Looking to get my first Abarth. I’m in the UK - coming from an S2000 so want a 595c.

Is there a secret society of Abarth buy and sell somewhere or is it just PistonHeads, Autotrader etc?

Have read about buying unmodified, cambelt and service history importance…any other tips? Rust a problem?

Budget c£10k so hoping I can get something fairly low mileage and well looked after. Delusional?

ELI5: Torsion Bars Vs Sway Bars.

I’m looking to either get a rear torsion or sway bar. I’ve been trying to do my homework/research and it pretty much come up as “same but different.” Does anyone here have a good explanation to differentiate the value between the two?

I’ve wanted one of these cars since they came to the US when I was 13, today I finally got one and I wonder why I waited so long.

Do you ever drive without sport mode?

Personally I’m too used to the higher throttle sensitivity of sport that I can’t get a good start without it lmao

Having trouble with ignition in the mornings

So I’ve just bought it a month ago.
Switched the Oil, the coolant fluid had a leak fixed it as well.
And fixed the cosmetics of the car.
Previous owner said he never had this problem and thinks it’s the spark plugs or coils.
I think it’s the plugs, coils or the battery.

Anybody had this problem before?
Just a quick check with you guys before starting do dissemble the car trying to find the problem.

I’m over 60k miles & 9 years old… time for a timing belt change?

I want this car to last forever. It’s a 2017 Abarth 500 USA with about 62,000 miles on it now, and based on all the research I’ve been doing, it seems like I’m getting close to timing belt service territory.

The timing belt itself doesn’t seem expensive, but the actual job looks very complicated from the videos I’ve watched. Compared to other cars, it seems like on the Abarth they have to take apart half the engine bay just to access it.

Is this something a normal mechanic can realistically handle, or should I specifically look for a Fiat/Euro specialist?

I’d prefer to have a Fiat dealership do it, but I’m worried they might give me issues because I have aftermarket parts installed like:

- MADNESS cold air intake
- Blow off valve adapter

Has anyone here gotten their timing belt changed yet?
How expensive was it?
Was the process complicated?
Can an average mechanic handle it properly on the 500 Abarth?

One thing I’ve noticed with my car is that a lot of mechanics who’ve worked on it clearly don’t have much actual Abarth experience. They usually spend time figuring out where parts are located or how to access things, and it feels more like they’re relying on general mechanic knowledge rather than knowing these cars specifically.

Summary:

- 2017 Abarth with 62k miles and approaching timing belt service
- Timing belt looks inexpensive, but labor appears complicated
- Concerned about whether regular mechanics can properly do the job
- Unsure if dealership will work on modified car
- Looking for real owner experiences on cost, difficulty, and mechanic recommendations

Hatch won’t open on 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth (US)

It opens sometimes, sometimes it doesn’t

I haven’t been able to find any wiring issues, the license plate lamp also doesn’t work when the hatch doesn’t

I’m seeing that it could be the wiring harness, the actuator, or the handle?

I’m so confused, any videos I look up only show me how to manually open, not how to diagnose what the issue could be

When I have it open sometimes the button works and sometimes it doesn’t, meaning that when I press it the motor makes a sound/flips the latch, and sometimes it doesn’t

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Putting My Wheel Back On

What's next?

- Remove the wheel centering stud.

- Hand tighten the remaining wheel bolt

- Tighten all 4 bolts in a cross pattern with the 1/2 inch impact wrench on high.

Some people do it this way, I'm curious how many.

Bobardone R4 on a 595 Comp

So after having the valve actuator sheer on the record Monza it felt fitting to get something a little silly to put on in the meantime... Sounds fantastic inside and out. Going to struggle to take this off now I've heard it!
