What are your travel hacks for traveling with kids?

My wife and I were avid travelers before our kids, and still try to travel a lot now with our 9 and 12 year old. However, the experience is very different now, a lot less leniency and planning on a whim lol. Any parents have any travel hacks that they live by?

I’m having the biggest headache when booking tours and activities for clients, can smth help for this?

Hey, been trying to sort out tours and activities for clients and honestly it’s turning into a bigger headache than I expected.

I’ve been looking for a proper travel agency style setup, something that can help with good tours, local options, and just make the whole thing smoother for clients without me having to chase everything down myself.
for context, i’m not really after some random booking site, more like something that can handle the travel side a bit more like a real agent would, if that makes sense. just want to avoid piecing together stuff one by one every time.

If anyone’s found a decent way to do this, or a service that actually helps with bookings and planning without being a pain, I’d love to hear it.

Zam zam on layover

ZamZam water on multi city flights

Salam, I am planning a vacation to TURKEY after Umrah from India Hyderabad

All flights would be with Saudi Airlines

  1. HYD - JEDDAH

  2. JEDDAH - ISTANBUL

  3. ISTANBUL - (Jeddah layover) - HYD

So I am worried about the Zam zam water bottles

...Will I be able to purchase it on my last, return flight on Jeddah layover? Will I be eligible for it?

(or)

...Do I have to purchase it on the 2nd flight only, and if so will I be allowed to carry it back on the 3rd flight?

Can we bring alcohol from Delhi (purchased in Gurugram) to Hyderabad via domestic flight?

Any recent travellers from Delhi to Hyd who purchased alcohol? If yes, did you face any trouble and how much alcohol did you bring.

what’s your process for finding tours and activities in a new destination when you’re out of options

When I'm in a new place and i've run out of the obvious stuff, I always end up stuck scrolling random pages and half the listings look terrible or dead I want the kind of local tour or activity that feels worth the time, not just the usual tourist filler.

Do you just check the big booking sites or is there some better way I'm missing? feeling a bit lost with this one tbh, thanks in advance.

Why is the return so much cheaper than outbound for my trip?

I’m currently in the planning stage of a 5-day trip to NYC from London in March. It will be my fourth time in the states, and I always fly from London as the train there and the flight tends to overall be cheaper than a flight from my nearest airport in Manchester.

Due to my relatively low budget and monthly wage, I often book these trips in chunks. Rather than paying for both outbound and return flights at once, I’ll book the outbound one month and the return flight the next.

As I browse Skyscanner and Google Flights, I’m noticing just how much cheaper flights from the US are to here. My outbound to NYC will cost around £300 at best, whereas the return will be often below £200. Not just for New York too. It would cheaper for me to fly back to London from Oregon, than to fly from London just to NYC

Is there a specific reason for this price difference that I’m not aware of?

How likely am I to get an Uber or Rental car on Christmas day at Tampa airport?

Flying from Chicago to Tampa FL on Christmas day to surprise my parents. I have to wonder how likely it is that I'll be able to get an Uber or Rental car that day though? I have no idea how this works so any information is helpful.

How do you plan a family trip when everyone wants something different?

I’m planning a trip to Canada from Paris with my family — 2 adults, 2 kids, and one older parent.

I first looked at private family tours through local travel agencies, but the quotes were way more expensive than I expected.

So I figured I’d just plan it myself. Now I have the opposite problem: there’s almost too much information online.

The kids obviously want fun stuff, and my husband want to actually see Canada, and I also need to make sure the days aren’t too packed or tiring for my older parent. Then I start comparing cities, hotels, transport, how many nights to stay, what’s actually worth doing... and suddenly I have 7 r/canadatravel open and no real itinerary 😅

For anyone who travels with kids and parents/grandparents, how do you actually plan these trips?

Do you do everything yourself, use a travel agent, use a planning tool, or some mix of all three?

I’d especially love to know how you balance everyone’s different pace and interests without making the trip either exhausting or ridiculously expensive.

And if anyone has any good places in Canada to recommend, please drop them in the comments. Thank you!

What's a place you almost skipped but ended up being one of the best parts of your trip?

Would love to hear from people who nearly cut somewhere from their itinerary but decided to go anyway- and it turned out to be a highlight instead.

Expedia cost me $1,900

Last week I did a search for a specific hotel for specific dates. The hotel showed available so I booked it. Immediately after booking the room for 3 nights ($1,800) non-refundable, I noticed that the dates were changed. Instead of showing “not available”, Expedia instead showed “available”, but for different nights. I didn’t notice the dates changed as who would book a hotel for different nights? (Exactly one week earlier…so the days were the same).

I immediately called Expedia and the hotel and was told that they couldn’t do anything about it. So here I am, having saved my hard earned money for a simple trip and now I have nothing.

Trip cancelled.

Will flights to New Zealand get cheaper?

Hi! I am looking at booking a flight from Boston to Christchurch NZ in January 2027. Yesterday I was looking at flights and ready to book one for $1500. I went through capital one travel portal and it suggested that I wait to book, as prices may drop by $300+. This morning I looked at the flight and it had jumped to $2,100.

Do you think this flight will drop in price or is it only going up from here? I’m nervous I wasted a bunch of money and should have just booked yesterday.

Hotel changed on at airport on arrival in Greece, what can we do!?

This is for legal advice UK as we live in England and paid for the holiday in the UK.

I’m wondering if anyone can help. We got a last minute holiday with Jet2, we weren’t going to go away but the hotel and location looked perfect. We have both been a little stressed and wanted to go somewhere quiet for a few days to relax. We booked the Arion by Seagonia, an adults-Friendly Boutique Hotel in Pogonia, Paleros. A very quiet non touristy area on mainland Greece with no big towns or other complex’s near by.

We flew into Greece without any issues, collected our luggage and picked up our hire car. At that moment we got a call from a Jet2 rep asking to speak with us, she met us by the exit of the airport and told us “the hotel we had booked was overbooked and not available, it’s peak season and there is nothing else available except a hotel 2hrs in the opposite direction to your original hotel but it’s still really nice and it’s a bigger room.” She eventually talks us into just going and seeing what it’s like, the hotel is fine but it’s a family friendly, lots of kids, very touristy area and absolutely nothing like we had originally booked. We are now in our second day here, we have spoken to local Jet2 rep but he keeps telling us “it’s great here, let me find some great things for you to do etc”. We have heard nothing about compensation, nothing about them really trying to rectify the situation or make things better for us. If we wanted to just go back home the next flight isn’t until Wednesday and it looks like they would give us half our money back but that would mean we still paid well over £1000 for a few days away somewhere we really didn’t want to go and much of it was taken us with talking to reps and trying to figure out this mess!

What should we do, what are our rights? I well like I ordered chicken and got given fish and then I was told I just had to eat it and also pay the bill…

We live in Kent in England for context.

Why I started this community and a little about me!

31F 👋 I teach Secondary school around the Stratford area and I LOVE getting out of London whenever I can.

I’m always driving to national parks, Wales, going hiking, camping or just exploring somewhere new 🥾⛺️🚗

The problem is, most of my friends and family are working during the week when I’m off, and doing these trips solo gets expensive when you’re paying all the fuel yourself 😭

I’m also at a stage in life where I have quite a lot of freedom. No children and not many responsibilities tying me down during the holidays, while some of my teacher friends have families and other commitments.

So I thought… surely there are other London teachers in a similar position?

People who have the same time off, want to get out and do things, and would happily split the fuel and explore together.

That’s genuinely why I started this community.
If any of this sounds like you, come join us 👋✈️ And share it with another London teacher who might be looking for the same thing.

12-day Mexico adventure during Día De Los Muertos 2027

Looking for advice on a 12-day Mexico adventure

  • I’m planning a 12-day trip to Mexico in late October / early November 2027, specifically within the 22 October – 10 November window.
  • The main goal is to experience Día de Muertos in Oaxaca, ideally being there around 1–2 November.
  • I’m not looking for a typical relaxing/touristy vacation — I want this to be a full adventure trip, with culture, history, nature, wildlife and some challenging experiences.

Places / experiences I definitely want to include:

  • Mexico City
  • Día de Muertos in Oaxaca
  • Oaxaca / Hierve el Agua / Monte Albán, with some hiking and outdoor activities
  • Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in Michoacán (if the sanctuaries are open)
  • Chichén Itzá
  • Cenotes in Yucatán, ideally including some less-touristy/adventure-oriented ones

The itinerary we’ve put together so far:

  • Oct 28–30: Mexico City
  • Oct 30–Nov 2: Oaxaca
  • Nov 3–4: Monarch Butterfly region
  • Nov 5–8: Yucatán / Valladolid / Cenotes / Chichén Itzá
  • Then fly back home.

The itinerary was put together together with ChatGPT as a starting point, but I’d really like local and experienced travelers’ opinions before I start booking anything.

I’d especially love advice on:

  • Is this itinerary realistic for 12 days, or am I trying to squeeze in too much?
  • Would you change the order of the destinations?
  • Is late Oct / early Nov a good period for the Monarch Butterfly Reserve, considering that sanctuary opening dates can vary?
  • What would you recommend doing in Oaxaca during Día de Muertos that goes beyond the typical tourist experience?
  • Any hikes, cenotes, villages, wildlife experiences or adventure activities that I absolutely shouldn’t miss?
  • Are there places/routes you would remove because they’re too touristy or not worth the time?
  • Any advice on transportation between these destinations?
  • And most importantly: if you had 12 days and wanted an adventure-focused Mexico trip around Día de Muertos, how would you do it?

I’d love to hear both “keep this” and “you’re doing this completely wrong” opinions. 😄

Thanks!

any reliable sources for last minute rental deals?

i noticed that booking a rental close to the travel date can sometimes produce surprisingly different prices but im never sure whether getting a good deal or just looking at whats left.

with booking trips with only a few days or a week of notice, where do you usually look? do you compare airbnb/vrbo with hotel sites, check property managers directly or use sites that focus more specifically on last minute rental deals? i have come across a few of those recently but im curious what other travelers actually use and trust.
