How to cook CHICKEN w/o sticking?

When cooking chicken it seems to stick a lot. Is it because it is a low fat compared to burgers?

I cook chicken breast frequently on the blackstone, season with a dry seasoning (kinder) of some sort. Half the seasoning sticks to the griddle....

  1. Do you coat griddle with oil (I typically use avocado) before using? If so, do you throw it on when griddle is hot or when you start pre-heating griddle?
  2. Do you have griddle really hot or just low temp when throwing on food?
  3. Any other suggestions?

Still trying to figure out blackstone, don't roast too hard 😂

Is this ok after a cook?

Cooked, cleaned and reapplied oil. Doesn’t look right to me. Thoughts?

Seasoning

This is what my blackstone looks like after winter, getting ready to do a first cook of the year. What should I do to season it again?

Is this what it should look like after cleaning and oiling?

This was after my first use.

Just got a Blackstone and have questions before my first cook.

I just set up my Blackstone 28" XL gas powered grill today. It has the omnivore grill plate and says it comes pre-seasoned. However, there was a huge poster on the griddle surface when I unboxed it and it appears to have rubbed off patches of season (see pic). As of now, all I have done is hosed down the griddle plate with water, per the instruction manual, and dried it off with paper towels.

My question is, based off of the picture, is it recommended that I re-season the griddle? I do have the Blackstone brand seasoning/conditioner. But if that's not necessary, I'd like to get straight to cooking. I'm really just worried about ruining my new grill right from the start. Thanks in advance for any advice.

New owner seasoning help

I just got this blackstone from my buddy who didn’t use it anymore. I’ve always wanted one so he said “get it off my porch”.

I cook nearly exclusively with cast iron, so I understand the process of seasoning and the purpose behind it. What

What I DONT understand is getting the seasoning to turn around the edges of the griddle top. Does this come with time or can I do something intentional to ensure that my top matches all around?

22 Inch Culinary propane question

Hey all, I just picked up a Blackstone 22 Inch Griddle and I fired her up for the first time this week. I found that when I hooked up a 30 pound propane tank that even on the lowest setting, my temperature temperatures were upwards of 4 to 450. I couldn’t control it. However, when I used one of the green portable propane tank tanks, it worked awesome. Is there a way around this so I could use a big propane tank for the summer and not have to always use the little ones? Is it something I’m doing wrong or is that just the way it is with the portable griddle?

Black Garlic Honey Chicken Sandwich

After waiting and waiting and waiting some more for my black garlic to finish, I can finally enjoy it 😂

Today on "Will it Blackstone" Black Garlic Honey Chicken Sandwich & some random stuff because they were out of pizza rolls 😆

After the black garlic was done I made confit and saved the extra oil. Mix some of both with honey, mirin, rice vinegar, tamari, & sesame seeds then marinate the chicken for a few hours before cooking. Bacon and onions always makes sandwiches better, so I tossed the onions in some red pepper flakes for a little kick 🤣

I also had to meal prep my dogs and make some veggies for my girl to go with her seafood I'm allergic to 😅

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong

I just did a reseason but it keeps flaking off, I’ve looked at tons of videos put the oil than wipe it off like there isn’t any, let it smoke and repeat

Sausage, onions, peppers and spinach.

Cooked up some sausage, spinach, onions and peppers on the blackstone. Combined that with quinoa, feta, kalamala olives and sun-dried tomatoes. Topped with sriracha.

22 griddle on the go

Just bought the 22 on the go griddle. DSG website shows the front of the grill looking different from what was in the store. The box does say date code: 1/26. Just want to make sure I got the newest model.

Safe to use?

I’m new to Blackstones and was gifted one a few months ago. The griddle was fairly rusty, but I spent several hours scraping it and using griddle stones on it. I’ve cooked on it a couple times in the past few months, and I always season it with Blackstone conditioner/seasoning afterwards. It looks like this currently. Is it safe to use in this state? What did I do wrong that caused rust to come back? I always keep a cover on it as well as a silicon griddle topper

First breakfast cook in the books!

Not shown: 🥚 It all turned out pretty tasty! (Except for the sausage patties-HEB put some strange maple flavor in them and it was like eating chemicals)

Is It Worth Restoring A Used Blackstone?

There are used Blackstones in my area for really cheap, and my wife will kill me if I buy yet another grill. Still, I really want a griddle, so I've been tempted to grab one that's been neglected and try and restore it. Are griddles like this worth restoring, or should I just consider splurging on a new one? (Sorry, I know griddle restoration is probably a really common topic here.)
